Educational technology has become an indispensable aspect of higher education, playing a crucial role in affecting student engagement, in particular. The application, advantages and disadvantages of learning management systems (LMS) and social networking systems in Chinese EFL courses, represented by Superstar--Xuexitong and WeChat, are introduced. The study aims to explore the relationship between the two educational technology tools and three dimensions of student engagement. Using an adopted and revised questionnaire from previous researches, the study measures the extent of impact of the specified educational technology tools on student engagement with the help of SPSS. Through the independent sample T tests, analysis of variance, correlation and regression, the study found that emotional engagement has the strongest positive effect on educational technology engagement. In addition, analysis of the four principal factors indicates that using LMS could engage students more than adopting social networking systems. There are significant differences in cognitive engagement between different genders, with that of males surpassing females. This article provides some empirical evidence for exploration into the use of educational technology in a specific discipline to foster better student engagement.

The frequency and contextual predictability of words have a fundamental role in determining "where" and "when" the eyes move during reading in both alphabetic and non-alphabetic languages. However, surprising little is known about the how the influence of these variables develops, although this is important for understanding how children learn to read. Accordingly, to gain insight into their use during reading development, we examined the effects of orthogonally manipulating the frequency and contextual predictability of a specific target word in sentences on the eye movements of developing Chinese readers. The findings show that both factors influence eye movement behavior associated with the early processing of words during reading, but that effects of contextual predictability are mediated by the lexical frequency of words. We consider these effects in the context of visual and linguistic demands associated with reading Chinese and in relation to current models of eye movement control during reading.

Extending studies on emotional design in multimedia learning beyond college samples and further considering individual differences, we examined the effects of emotional design on middle school students' learning and whether this relationship is moderated by learners' prior knowledge, using a computer-based lesson covering the topic "the formation of lightning." Participants were middle school students (N=124; 58 females; age range 13 to 16) who volunteered to participate with permission. Learners with high prior knowledge (n=63) and learners with low prior knowledge (n=61) were randomly assigned to one of two instructional design conditions: positive emotional design (colourful and anthropomorphic features) and neutral emotional design (grey and non-anthropomorphic features). The results showed that the positive emotional design operationalised via visual elements did not induce more positive emotions than the neutral design group, although there was a trend towards facilitating more learning transfer ([eta][superscript 2][subscript p]=0.02, p=0.098) and increasing the mental effort of learners with low prior knowledge ([eta][superscript 2][subscript p]=0.03, p =0.06). There was a tendency for learners with high knowledge to perceive higher mental effort ([eta][superscript 2][subscript p]=0.03, p=0.06), satisfaction ([eta][superscript 2][subscript p]=0.05, p=0.01) and achieve better transfer scores ([eta][superscript 2][subscript p]=0.03, p=0.087) compared with those learners with low knowledge. These findings suggest that positive emotional design should be cautiously applied in multimedia learning for middle school students. Individual differences must be considered in instructional design in a multimedia learning environment.

Counter-empathy may have more serious negative effects on women than on men. Sixty-four female Chinese university students participated in this study. Based on the counter-empathy model in a competitive setting, we examined how forgiveness affects counter-empathy. We manipulated the degree of participants' forgiveness toward their opponents by changing the type of information they received from their opponents. We also measured counter-empathy through self-reported pleasantness caused by opponents' facial expressions (smiles or frowns). We found that forgiveness can effectively alleviate women's counter-empathy, restraining their emotional experience from being inconsistent with the offender and enhancing their empathic concern toward the offender. STUDY QUESTION How many couples with at least one child under 3 years would like to have another one or more child(ren) in Eastern China and will an in-cash subsidy be conducive to couple's fertility intentions? SUMMARY ANSWER In sum, only 15.1% of respondents had further fertility intentions (FFI) before learning about the subsidy, and the planned in-cash subsidy policy increased respondents' overall FFI by 8.5%. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY Fertility has been declining globally and has reached a new low in China. The reasons why the Chinese three-child policy was under-realized, and how couples will react to a planned monthly ¥1000 (€141.2) subsidy policy, are not fully understood. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION During January and February 2022, a cross-sectional online survey aiming to understand families' expenses of raising a child under 3 years old, and couples' FFI, was conducted. During the survey period, 272 510 respondents scanned the QR code. This study reports the findings pertaining to questions on respondents' sociodemographic characteristics, household factors, FFI, and changes in intention from negative to positive after learning about the planned in-cash subsidy. After exclusion, 144 893 eligible responses were included. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS Respondents' FFI, the effect of a planned ¥1000/month*36 months' in-cash subsidy (€5083.2 in total) on people with a negative FFI before the subsidy, and potential reasons for persistent negative FFI after learning about the subsidy were collected through an anonymous online survey. Stepwise binary logistic regression models were used to select associated factors. The potential fertility rate change and government costs were estimated. A stratified analysis by current child number and sensitivity analysis were also conducted. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE In sum, 15.7% (22 804/144 893) of respondents were male, 15.1% of respondents reported a positive FFI, and 10.0% (12 288/123 051) without an FFI at first changed their intention after learning about the planned in-cash subsidy policy. For those who still said 'no FFI', 46.5%, 20.6%, and 14.7% chose pressure on housing status, expenses on children's education, and lack of time or energy for caring for another child as their first reasons. FFI was strongest in participants receiving the most financial support from their parents, i.e. grandparents (OR = 1.73, 95% CI = 1.63–1.84 for the >¥100 000/year group), and weakest in those already having two children (OR = 0.23, 95% CI = 0.22–0.24). For those with no FFI before learning about the subsidy policy, respondents with the highest house loan/rent (>¥120 000/year, OR = 1.27, 95% CI = 1.18–1.36) were more likely to change their FFI from 'No' to 'Yes', and those with the highest household income (>¥300 000/year, OR = 0.65, 95% CI = 0.60–0.71) were least susceptible to the policy. In our study population, about 1843 more births every year and an additional 0.3 children per woman were projected under a conservative estimation. Annual estimated cost at the provincial scale would be ¥817.7 (€115.5) million, about 1.02‰ of the total General Public Budget Revenue in 2022. The findings were generally robust in the stratified analysis and sensitivity analysis. LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION Selection bias and information errors may exist in the online survey responses. The large sample size and detailed further analysis were used to minimize such biases. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS Fertility intentions in Eastern China are rather low. Policymakers should focus more on financial and childcare burdens for a better realization of the three-child policy, including housing, education and childcare services. An in-cash subsidy, which has never been used in China previously, shows promising potential for increasing FFI. However, the application of such policy should be in line with local conditions for better cost-effectiveness regarding fertility-boosting and fiscal sustainability for the government in the long run. It has been widely accepted that China is one of the biggest natural gas consumers. Related to the imports of LNG, China stands in a very uncomfortable situation. Most domestic gas reservoirs fall within deep water drive gas reservoirs inordinately, which has entered the production depletion stage. Accurate estimation of SEC recoverable reserves of deep water drive gas reservoirs is of great significance for gas consumption planning and peak shaving. The existing calculation methods of recoverable reserves mainly consist of static methods and dynamic methods. In the early stage of exploration and development, the volumetric method has often been utilized to calculate the recoverable reserves. With the continuous development of gas reservoirs, the main methods for evaluation are dynamic methods, including the successive subtraction of production method, water drive curve method, prediction model method, attenuation curve method, improved virtual curve method, and material balance method for deep gas reservoirs. Snow is a key component of the cryosphere and has significant impacts on surface energy balance, hydrology, atmospheric circulation, and etc. In addition, numerous studies have indicated that snow impurities, especially nitrate, are sensitive to sunlight and can be photolyzed to emit reactive species including NO2 and HONO, which serve as precursors of O3 and radicals and disturb the overlying atmospheric chemistry. This makes snow a reservoir of reactive species, and this reservoir is particularly important in remote and pristine regions with limited anthropogenic emissions. The magnitude of snow chemical emissions is also influenced by snow physical properties, including snow depth, density and concentrations of light-absorbing impurities (e.g., BC and dust). Exploring and elucidating the emissions and atmospheric consequences of the snow-sourced reactive species require a global or regional model with a snow module. Here, we parameterized atmospheric nitrate deposition and its distributions in snow using a regional chemical transport model, i.e., the WRF-Chem (the Weather Research and Forecasting Model coupled with Chemistry) model, and evaluated the performance of the WRF-Chem model in simulating snow cover, snow depth, and BC, dust and nitrate concentrations with field observations in northern China which is one of the regions with dense and prolong snow cover. The model reasonably reproduces the observed snow cover and depth in northeastern and northwestern China, and the observed snow dust and nitrate concentrations are also reasonably reproduced. These results illustrate the ability of WRF-Chem in simulating snow properties including concentrations of reservoir species in northern China, and in the future, we will incorporate snow nitrate photolysis in the model, exploring the emissions of snow NOx from nitrate photolysis and the impacts on local to regional atmospheric chemistry and air pollutant transformations. Agroforestry, as a phytoremediation measure, shows great potential for mitigating land degradation by constructing multidimensional and efficient agroforestry composite systems through regulating the microenvironment of agroforestry sites and improving soil properties. However, the effects of different agroforestry composite management modes on saline soils and the interactions between soil–plant systems under salt stress conditions in coastal areas remain largely unexplored. In this study, two salt‐tolerant tree species (Sapium sebiferum (Linn.) Roxb and Zelkova serrata (Thunb.) Makino) and four crop species (Medicago sativa, Sesbania cannabina, Sorghum bicolour, and Avena sativa) were selected for intercropping in eight composite patterns via field experiments, with dynamics of soil physicochemical properties and crop photosynthesis observed. The results showed that treatments intercropped with M. sativa had the highest soil bulk density range (1.41–1.48 g cm−3). The dynamics of topsoil (0–10 cm) chemical properties showed similar change patterns among treatments, whereas those of the 10–40 cm soil chemical properties (especially soil pH, soil organic matter [SOM], and total nitrogen [TN]) showed heterogeneity. Moreover, planting S. sebiferum (L.) Roxb under the same crop conditions increased tree height growth rate and survival rate by 75%–114% and 14%–33%, respectively, relative to planting Z. serrata (T.) Makino. Furthermore, a significant negative correlation was observed between soil moisture with crop intercellular CO2 concentration (λ = −0.77), while significant positive correlations were found between crop net photosynthetic rate (Pn) with soil TN (λ = 0.71), as well as SOM with atmospheric CO2 content (λ = 0.72). Structural equation modeling showed significant direct effects between tree height growth rate with soil TN and SOM. Soil moisture (λ = 0.47) and tree height growth rate (λ = 0.53) were dominant drivers of crop Pn. Background and rationale: Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is a rare cerebrovascular disorder that mainly affects young and middle‐aged adults. Epidemiological data on the incidence, risk factors, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of CVT are lacking in China. In addition, there is a lack of evidence from large, multicenter, real‐world studies on the efficacy and safety of endovascular. Aim: To understand the incidence, diagnosis and treatment status of CVT in China and to estimate the effectiveness and safety of endovascular treatment in the real‐world. Methods: A multicenter, retrospective observational cohort study will be conducted on CVT patient records from 104 hospitals, between January 1, 2018 and June 30, 2022, identified using a 2‐stage cluster sampling design based on per capita gross domestic product. Each enrolled participant is required to complete a further follow‐up, which includes the current situation and the assessment at 3 and 12 months after discharge. Study outcomes: The outcomes of this study will include the current status of the incidence, pathogenesis, etiology, clinical symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of CVT in China, as well as the effectiveness and safety of endovascular treatment in the real‐world. Discussion: Results from this study will provide evidence on the incidence, specific risk factors, symptomatic and imaging features, and clinical outcomes of CVT in China as well as indicate whether endovascular treatment is superior to medical management alone for patients with acute CVT in the real‐world. To prospectively investigate associations between the features of gut microbiota at the fourth week after birth in preterm infants and neurodevelopment from 1 month of corrected age to 6 months of corrected age (MCA). Seventy-seven preterm infants were recruited from three NICUs of three tertiary hospitals between Apr 2021 to Sep 2022. Stool samples were collected during the fourth week after birth. Illumina MiSeq high-throughput sequencing technology was used to detect the composition and diversity of gut microbiota. Neurodevelopment assessments of preterm infants were conducted at 1, 3, and 6 MCA using the Ages and Stages Questionnaire, the third edition (ASQ-3). Spearman correlation, a generalized linear mixed model (GLMM), and permutational multivariate analysis of variance (PERMANOVA) analysis were used to horizontally and prospectively explore the associations between gut microbial and ASQ-3 dimension scores at each time point. The GLMM showed no significant associations between the alpha diversity and neurodevelopmental trajectory from 1 to 6 MCA. The beta diversity was significantly associated with gross motor scores at 1, 3, and 6 MCA (R2 = 0.067, p = 0.001; R2 = 0.039, p = 0.020; R2 = 0.031, p = 0.047); communication scores at 3 MCA (R2 = 0.030, p = 0.040); and fine motor scores at 6 MCA (R2 = 0.035, p = 0.022). After adjusting for covariates, the GLMM showed that the relative abundance of Klebsiella was negatively associated with gross motor score trajectory from 1 to 6 MCA (β = − 1.449; 95% CI, − 2.275 to − 0.572; p = 0.001), while the relative abundance of Lactobacillus displayed a positive association (β = 1.421; 95% CI, 0.139 to 2.702; p = 0.030). Moreover, the relative abundance of Streptococcus was negatively associated with fine motor trajectory from 1 to 6 MCA (β = − 1.669; 95% CI, − 3.305 to − 0.033; p = 0.046). Conclusion: Our results suggest a possible association between the neonatal gut microbial diversity; the relative abundance of Klebsiella, Streptococcus, and Lactobacillus; and neurodevelopment from 1 to 6 MCA. In the future, clinical staff can focus on the window period of gut microbiota colonization, and implement probiotics targeted at the dominant genera to improve the neurodevelopment of preterm infants. Artemisia japonica Thunb. has been used as a traditional Chinese medicine and a vegetable for thousands of years in China. However, there are few reports on the chemical composition and biological activity of its leaves. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the chemical composition, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of water extracts of A. japonica leaves and their underlying mechanisms. A total of 48 compounds were identified in the water extract using UPLC-QTOF-MS2 analysis, with phenolic acids, particularly chlorogenic acid compounds, being the predominant components. The ethyl acetate fraction (EAF) contained most of the total phenolic content (385.4217 mg GAE/g) and displayed superior antioxidant capacity with the IC50DPPH•, IC50ABTS•+, and OD0.5reducing power at 10.987 μg/mL, 43.630 μg/mL and 26.883 μg/mL, respectively. Furthermore, EAF demonstrated potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells by upregulating the Nrf2/HO-1 signal pathway. These findings highlight that A. japonica leaves possess remarkable abilities to mitigate inflammation and oxidative stress, suggesting their potential utilization as medicinal agents and food additives for promoting human health. Global demand for underground gas storage (UGS) is steadily increasing, with the limestone-based UGS system situated in the Sichuan Basin of China gathering considerable interest in recent years. However, studies focusing on the fundamental mechanisms of the injection-production process in these systems are limited. Moreover, existing studies utilizing physical experimental methods frequently fall short in effectively visualizing micro-flow or incorporating real core samples from the reservoir. To address these gaps, we performed a coreflood experiment, integrating micro-Computed Tomography (CT) scanning to investigate mechanisms of fluid flow and storage capacity during the injection and production cycles in limestone reservoirs. Our approach involved utilizing core plugs with artificially engraved fracture-vuggy structures, which mimic the characteristics of the reservoir. Micro-CT scans were performed to visualize the microscopic changes in fractured-vuggy structures and the distribution of irreducible water during each cycle. This study reveals that increased cycles correspondingly affect gas storage capacity, particularly by expanding it in relative larger vuggy structures while reducing it in finer fissure network structures. The amount of irreducible water decreases after injection-production cycles, likely being expelled alongside the extracted dry gas. This plays a critical role in expanding the storage capacity in larger vuggy systems. Conversely, there is a decrease in storage capacity within fissure network systems, as the irreducible water is replaced by gas. This leads to a reduction in the opening force of the fine conduit. The dense matrix has a very limited effect on the flow mechanism and its influence on storage capacity. Overall, these findings offer practical insights for optimizing injection and production strategies in limestone UGS systems within the Sichuan Basin, contributing to a deeper understanding and efficient utilization of this vital infrastructure. In the knowledge economy era, innovation has become a key emphasis for urban competitions. This paper constructs a theoretical research framework that integrates the basic understandings, influencing factors and ensuing results of intercity innovative competition relations. On the basis of data from the general programs of the National Natural Science Foundation of China from 2005 to 2019, this paper constructs intercity innovative competition relations in China, analyses their spatial distribution and quantitative characteristics, and quantitatively investigates the impact of urban innovation capacity and multidimensional proximity (e.g., geographical proximity, institutional proximity and cognitive proximity) on intercity innovative competition relations through a negative binomial model. The study obtained the following findings: (1) In terms of the overall intercity innovative competition relations, the intensity of China's intercity innovative competition relations gradually increased from 2005 to 2019, with a spatial clustering towards cities with high administrative ranks (e.g., municipalities directly under the central government, sub-provincial cities and provincial capitals); Beijing is always at the centre of innovative competition relations, but its standing has slightly slipped in recent years. (2) From the perspective of disciplines, cities can become benchmarks in particular fields of innovative competitions by competing according to their disciplinary strengths; intercity innovative competition relations in China vary across various academic disciplines. (3) In terms of influencing factors, urban innovation capacity has significant positive effects on intercity innovative competition relations; geographical proximity, institutional proximity and cognitive proximity all have significant positive effects on innovative competition relations; and interactions occur between multidimensional proximities, including a complementary effect between geographical proximity and institutional proximity, a substitutive effect between cognitive proximity and geographical proximity, and a substitutive effect between cognitive proximity and institutional proximity. Competitive climate and individual competitive characteristics jointly affect the mental health of adolescents. Based on person-environment fit theory, this study aimed to examine the effects of the match between trait competitiveness and competitive climate on depressive symptoms and anxiety. In this study, data were collected from 2235 Chinese adolescents in the 10th to 12th grades (48.8% girls; Mage = 16.06 years, SDage = 0.95). Self-reported depressive symptoms, general anxiety, trait competitiveness, and competitive climate were assessed. Polynomial regression analyses and response surface analyses indicated that in cases of congruence, as trait competitiveness and competitive climate increase, depressive symptoms and anxiety increase, as do their growth rate. In cases of incongruence, higher levels of depressive symptoms and anxiety are found when trait competitivenesså competitive climate compared to when competitive climateå trait competitiveness. And as trait competitiveness become increasingly higher than competitive climate, the level of depressive symptoms and anxiety were higher. This serves as a reminder for families and schools to place special emphasis on the mental health of adolescents with high levels of trait competitiveness who may exhibit high levels of depressive symptoms and anxiety. Aims: The natural abundances of stable carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) isotopes (δ13C and δ15N) are extensively used to indicate the C and N biogeochemical cycles at large spatial scales. However, the spatial patterns of δ13C and δ15N in plant-soil systems of grasslands in northern China and their main driving factors across regional climatic gradient are still not well understood. Methods: We measured plant and soil δ13C and δ15N compositions as well as their associated environmental factors across 2000 km climatic gradient (-0.2 to 9 °C; 152 to 502 mm) in grasslands of northern China. Results: The soil δ13C and δ15N values in surface were lower than those in bottom for temperate typical steppe but had no significant differences for temperate meadow steppe and temperate desert steppe. Soil δ13C values declined with increasing soil organic carbon (SOC) but increased as mean annual temperature (MAT). These changes were attributed to the microbial decomposition rate. The δ15N values in soil and plant were negatively correlated with MAT and mean annual precipitation (MAP), which were mainly related to the low soil organic matter mineralization rate and the shift of dominant species from C4 to C3. Conclusions: Our results indicate the spatial patterns and different influencing factors on δ13C and δ15N values along the climatic gradient in grasslands of northern China. Since Gottfredson and Hirschi proposed the general theory of crime, the direct link between self-control and delinquency has gained strong empirical support. The indirect link, however, remains understudied. Meanwhile, although Gottfredson and Hirschi argued that self-control theory can be applied in all cultural contexts, its generalizability needs to be tested under different circumstances. This study addressed these gaps by assessing the relationship between self-control and delinquency in China and introducing thoughtfully reflective decision making (TRDM) as the mediator of this relationship. Using self-reported data from the city of Changzhi, China, this study finds that (a) self-control is closely related to TRDM, (b) low self-control is significantly related to general and property delinquency for those with low morality, and (c) TRDM mediates the relationship between low self-control and delinquency for those with low morality. Studies investigating the relationship between ambient air pollutants and liver function are scarce. Our objective was to examine the associations of acute exposure to PM2.5 and O3 with levels of hepatic enzymes in people living with HIV/AIDS (PWHA). Our study involved 163 PWHA, who were evaluated for serum hepatic enzymes up to four times within a year. We extracted daily average concentrations of PM2.5, PM2.5 components, and O3 for each participant, based on their residential address, using the Tracking of Air Pollution in China database. Linear mixed-effect models were utilized to assess the associations of acute exposure to PM2.5 and O3 with hepatic enzymes. Weighted quantile sum regression models were employed to identify the major constituents of PM2.5 that affect hepatic enzymes. The percent change of aspartate aminotransferase (AST) concentration was positively correlated with a 10 µg/m3 increase in PM2.5, ranging from 1.92 (95% CI: 3.13 to 4.38) to 6.09 (95% CI: 9.25 to 12.38), with the largest effect observed at lag06. Additionally, acute O3 exposure was related to increased levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), AST, and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) concentrations. Co-exposure to high levels of PM2.5 and O3 had an antagonistic effect on the elevation of AST. Further analysis revealed that SO42− and BC were major contributors to elevated AST concentration due to PM2.5 constituents. A stronger association was found between O3 exposure and ALT concentration in female PWHA. Our study found that short-term exposure to PM2.5 and O3 was associated with increased levels of hepatic enzymes, indicating that PM2.5 and O3 exposure may contribute to hepatocellular injury in PWHA. Our study also found that PWHA may be more vulnerable to air pollution than the general population. These findings highlight the relationship between air pollutants and liver function in PWHA, providing a scientific basis for the implementation of measures to protect susceptible populations from the adverse effects of air pollution. Masson pine natural forests are ecologically and economically valuable forest ecosystems extensively distributed across China. However, they have been subject to deforestation due to human disturbance. Moreover, climate change affects the growth, mortality, and recruitment of forests, yet available forest growth models do not effectively analyze the impacts of climate. A climate-sensitive transition matrix model (CM) was developed using data from 330 sample plots collected during the 7th (2004), 8th (2009), and 9th (2014) Chinese National Forest Inventories in Hunan Province. To assess model robustness, two additional models were created using the same data: a non-climate-sensitive transition matrix model (NCM) and a fixed probability transition matrix model (FM). The models were compared using tenfold cross-validation and long-term predictive performance analysis. The cross-validation results did not show any significant differences among the three models, with the FM performing slightly better than the NCM. However, the application of the CM for long-term prediction (over a span of 100 years) under three representative concentration pathways (RCP2.6, RCP4.5, and RCP8.5) revealed distinct dynamics that demonstrated enhanced reliability. This is attributed to the consideration of climate variables that impact forest dynamics during long-term prediction periods. Statistics in modern China was transplanted from the West. Driven by a wave of Western learning in the late Qing Dynasty, the statistical works translated into Chinese consisted of two main categories: firstly, the statistical yearbooks of various countries translated directly from English; secondly, the statistical works translated by Japanese scholars from Japanese, who translated the English word statistic as tokei, or as political table, notation, tabulation or comprehensive calculation, which was later transferred from Japan to China. The translation and publication of the Japanese-translated statistics works marked the beginning of modern statistics in China. On the basis of the translation of Western statistics, Chinese scholars began to explore the compilation of a variety of statistical handouts for the use of teaching in the new style of schools . Reconstructing the evolution of fluvial landscapes is vital to our understanding of how and why early settlements used or abandoned locations in dynamic alluvial settings, especially places such as China's Central Plains where alluvial landforms have dominated since at least the late Pleistocene era. The Wangchenggang (WCG) site on the upper reaches of the Ying River is considered to be the legendary capital of the Great Yu who, according to historical documents, heroically tamed the big floods and founded the first dynasty of Xia. However, evolution of the alluvial landscape of the Holocene Ying River and its influence on the long‐term settlement change at the WCG site remains unclear. We present a detailed reconstruction of long‐term landscape evolution and settlement change at the site, based on the results of our geoarchaeological investigation, and published paleoclimate and archaeobotanical data. The results show that the region experienced an episode of extensive alluvial accretion in the late Pleistocene. From the end of the late Pleistocene to the early Holocene, the Ying River began to incise the alluvial plain, leading to the formation of the oldest terrace (T3). The middle and late Holocene in the Ying River valleys saw two episodes of alluvial aggradation between 7.7–5.4 ka B.P. (before present) and 4.5–3.8 ka B.P., respectively. Each of these events was followed by an alluvial incision, resulting in the formation of new alluvial terraces. During the historical periods, the youngest terrace T1 was formed. These cyclic changes in the regional fluvial landscape profoundly impacted the location and expansion of prehistoric settlements. During the Peiligang period (9.0–7.0 ka B.P.), the early stages of alluvial aggregation resulted in wide and shallow channels along the rivers. Early humans who relied on gathering and hunting for food chose to establish small settlements along such riverine environments. As alluvial aggradation continued in the Yangshao period (7.0–5.0 ka B.P.), they moved to a higher place, away from the rivers in the southwest, and flourished on high alluvial grounds. When a secondary terrace formed after the Longshan period (5.0–4.0 ka B.P.), people moved eastward again to build an early city on the T2 terraces and T3 terraces of the Ying River. When the water levels rose toward the terrace surfaces, they began to build moats and practiced mixed millet–rice farming. During the Eastern Zhou Dynasty (770–4256 B.C.), when the river started to down cut on a large scale, humans responded by building settlements on the lower and flat plains in the east. Pregnant women are widely exposed to phthalic acid esters (PAEs) that are commonly used in most aspects of modern life. However, few studies have examined the cumulative exposure of pregnant women to a variety of PAEs derived from the living environmental conditions in China. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the urinary concentrations of nine PAE metabolites in pregnant women, examine the relationship between urinary concentrations and residential characteristics, and conduct a risk assessment analysis. We included 1,888 women who were in their third trimester of pregnancy, and we determined their urinary concentrations of nine PAE metabolites using high-performance gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. The risk assessment of exposure to PAEs was calculated based on the estimated daily intake. A linear regression model was used to analyze the relationship between creatinine-adjusted PAE metabolite concentrations and residential characteristics. The detection rate of five PAE metabolites in the study population was > 90%. Among the PAE metabolites adjusted by creatinine, the urinary metabolite concentration of monobutyl phthalate was found to be the highest. Residential factors, such as housing type, proximity to streets, recent decorations, lack of ventilation in the kitchen, less than equal to three rooms, and the use of coal/kerosene/wood/wheat straw fuels, were all significantly associated with high PAE metabolite concentrations. Due to PAE exposure, ~ 42% (n = 793) of the participants faced potential health risks, particularly attributed to dibutyl phthalate, diisobutyl phthalate, and di(2-ethyl)hexyl phthalate exposure. Introduction: The Enhanced Control of Hypertension and Thrombolysis Stroke Study (ENCHANTED) showed that a low-dose alteplase was safe but not clearly non-inferior to standard-dose alteplase in acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Given the significant cost of this medicine, we undertook a cost-effectiveness analysis to determine the probability that low-dose is cost-effective relative to standard-dose alteplase in China. Methods: For ENCHANTED participants in China with available health cost data, cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analyses were undertaken in which death or disability (modified Rankin scale scores 2–6) at 90 days and quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs) were used as outcome measures, respectively. There was adherence to standard guidelines for health economic evaluations alongside non-inferiority trials and according to a health-care payer's perspective. The equivalence margin for cost and effectiveness was set at USD 691 and −0.025 QALYs, respectively, for the base-case analysis. Probabilistic sensitivity analyses were used to evaluate the probability of low-dose alteplase being non-inferior. Results: While the mean cost of alteplase was lower in the low-dose group (USD 1,569 vs. USD 2,154 in the standard-dose group), the total cost was USD 56 (95% confidence interval [CI]: −1,000–1,113) higher compared to the standard-dose group due to higher hospitalization costs in the low-dose group. There were 462 (95% CI: 415–509) and 410 (95% CI: 363–457) patients with death or disability per 1,000 patients in the low-dose and standard-dose groups, respectively. The low-dose group had marginally lower (0.008, 95% CI: −0.016–0.001) QALYs compared to their standard-dose counterparts. The low-dose group was found to have an 88% probability of being non-inferior based on cost-effectiveness versus the standard-dose group. Conclusions: This health economic evaluation alongside the ENCHANTED indicates that the use of low-dose alteplase does not save overall healthcare costs nor lead to a gain in QALYs in the management of Chinese patients with AIS compared to the use of standard dose. Background: Uncertainty exists over the optimal level of blood pressure (BP) after mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Objectives: We aim to determine the effectiveness and safety of intensive BP-lowering following MT reperfusion of large-vessel occlusion (LVO)-related AIS. Design: The second ENhanced Control of Hypertension ANd Thrombolysis strokE stuDy (ENCHANTED2) is an investigator-initiated, multicenter, prospective, randomized, open, blinded-endpoint (PROBE) trial of intensive systolic BP (SBP) control in reperfused (extended treatment in cerebral infarction (eTICI) classification 2b/2c/3) LVO-AIS patients with persistent hypertension (SBP ⩾ 140 mmHg) at 60+ sites in China, and Australia and the United Kingdom. Eligible patients are centrally randomly allocated to more- (target SBP ⩽ 120 mmHg within 1 h) or less-intensive (target SBP 140–180 mmHg) BP management, to be maintained for 72 h. Primary outcome is an ordinal shift analysis of scores on the modified Rankin scale (mRS) at 90 days. Sample size of 2257 patients provides 90% power to detect a 6.5% absolute reduction in poor outcome from more-intensive BP-lowering using ordinal logistic regression. Progress: Recruitment started in China in July 2020. At a meeting of the independent Data and Safety Monitoring Board in March 2022 to review primary outcome data available for 347 patients, they recommended suspension of recruitment due to safety concerns in the more-intensive group; which was implemented by the Trial Steering Committee (TSC) with 817 randomized patients only in China. The TSC then stopped recruitment after the safety concerns persisted on further review of the data in June 2022. The TSC will make a decision on restarting the trial with modification of the protocol when the results are made public. Discussion: ENCHANTED2 will provide further randomized evidence on the role of intensive BP-lowering after reperfusion in MT-treated AIS patients. Background: Self-management behaviours can be crucial to improving disease symptoms and health outcomes in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. Currently, the tools available for measuring self-management behaviours in RA patients are either generalized for patients with chronic diseases, which lack specificity or have poor reliability in the only specific scale—self-care behaviours scale (SCBS). The aim of this study was to develop a self-management behaviours scale for RA patients and evaluate its psychometric properties. Methods: The study included two steps: scale development and the psychometric evaluation. The items were developed from a literature review, in-depth individual interviews, nominal group technique, Delphi expert consultation, and a pilot test. For the psychometric evaluation, a sample of 561 patients with RA was recruited. Item analysis, content validity, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, convergent and discriminant validity, and internal consistency reliability were conducted to examine the psychometric properties of the RA-SMBS. Results: The final scale consists of 23 items with 4 dimensions, including medication management, exercise and joint protection, resource utilization and emotional management, and symptom management. The content validity index was 0.78. Exploratory factor analysis explained 61.89% of the total item variance. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the RA-SMBS fit well. Good internal consistency reliability was demonstrated (Cronbach's alpha = 0.908), and the test–retest reliability was found to be acceptable (ICC = 0.628, r = 0.780). Conclusions: The scale has good content validity, construct validity, and internal consistency reliability. It can be used to assess the level of self-management behaviours in RA patients. The Kaimuqi area in the Eastern Kunlun Orogen (EKO) contains many lherzolite, olivine websterite, gabbro and diorite intrusions, and new zircon U–Pb dating, Lu–Hf isotope and whole-rock geochemical data are presented herein to further confirm the Late Triassic mafic–ultramafic magmatism with Cu–Ni mineralization and to discuss the petrogenesis and geodynamic setting. Zircon U–Pb dating shows that the Late Triassic ages, corresponding to 220 Ma and 222 Ma, reveal the mafic–ultramafic and dioritic magmatism in Kaimuqi, respectively. Zircon from gabbro has εHf(t) values of −3.4 to −0.2, with corresponding TDM1 ages of 994–863 Ma. The mafic–ultramafic rocks generally have low SiO2, (Na2O+K2O) and TiO2 contents and high MgO contents and Mg# values. They are relatively enriched in light rare earth elements (LREEs) and large ion lithophile elements (LILEs) and depleted in heavy REEs (HREEs) and high-field-strength elements (HFSEs), indicating that the primary magma was derived from the metasomatized lithospheric mantle. The diorites show sanukitic high-Mg andesite properties (e.g., MgO = 2.78%–3.54%, Mg# = 50–55, Cr = 49.6–60.0 ppm, Sr = 488–512 ppm, Y = 19.6–21.8 ppm, Ba = 583–722 ppm, Sr/Y = 23.5–25.4, K/Rb = 190–202 and Eu/Eu* = 0.73–0.79), with LREEs and LILEs enrichments and HREEs and HFSEs depletions. We suggest that the primary Kaimuqi diorite magma originated from enriched lithospheric mantle that was metasomatized by subduction-derived fluids and sediments. The Kaimuqi mafic–ultramafic and dioritic intrusions, with many other mafic–ultramafic and K-rich granitic/rhyolitic rocks in the EKO, formed in a dynamic extensional setting after the Palaeo-Tethys Ocean closure. Ammonia volatilization is one of the forms of nitrogen loss. In alkaline soil of northern China, four treatment methods were designed: urea add viable Bacillus amyloliquefaciens biofertilizer (UB), urea add nonviable Bacillus amyloliquefaciens biofertilizer, urea add sweet potato starch wastewater, urea (U). The purpose of this study was to understand the effect of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens on ammonia volatilization, and analyze the control mechanism of ammonia volatilization and the effect on soil microbial community. The results showed that compared with U treatment, UB treatment reduced ammonia volatilization by 20%, enhanced nitrogen absorption of sorghum, and promoted the growth of sorghum (257.59%). At the peak of ammonia volatilization rate (7–14 days), the pH value of UB treatment decreased by 0.11. The soil ammonia nitrogen content decreased by 69.18 mg/kg, indicating that soil nitrification was enhanced. The difference of AOB abundance among different treatments was corresponding to the change of NO3−–N and NH4+–N contents in soil. The abundance of ammonia-oxidizing archaea (AOA) and ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) increased after fertilization. Compared with U treatment, UB treatment increased the copy number of AOA and AOB by 2.35 × 107 and 5.12 × 105 g−1 soil, respectively. Soil microbial community results showed that under UB treatment at the phylum level, the proportion of Proteobacteria (43.67%) and Actinobacteria (25.91%) was the highest. Firmicutes and Gemmatimonadetes increased (6.20% and 2.47%). At the class level, Gammaproteobacteria (27.55%), Acidimicrobiia (17.42%), and Alphaproteobacteria (12.66%) were the highest. In order to explore the influence of climate warming on soil microbial metabolism in the ecosystem and reveal the relationship between soil microbial metabolism limitation and environmental factors, in this study, the effects of warming on soil enzyme activities and nutrient availability were investigated by setting underground heating cables at 2 °C and 4 °C soil warming in a typical Quercus acutissima forest in the northern subtropics, and enzyme stoichiometric models were used to evaluate the limits of soil microbial metabolism. The results showed that soil warming significantly increased the activities of β-1,4-glucosidase (BG) and L-leucine aminopeptidase (LAP), and significantly increased the contents of nitrate nitrogen (NO3−-N) and available phosphorus (AP) in soil. The soil warming increased soil microbial C limitation and alleviated soil microbial P limitation. Our study showed that the change of soil microbial C and P limitation caused by warming may cause a large amount of SOM decomposition in a short period, leading to a large fluctuation of soil carbon turnover, which is not conducive to the stability of the soil C pool. This study investigates the digital economy's influence on entrepreneurship and the role of economic agglomeration in its mechanism. Employing yearly prefecture‐level city data from China (2011–2019) and panel econometric techniques, we show that the digital economy has a significant positive effect on entrepreneurship activity; this effect is maintained following endogeneity, alternative explanatory variable, sample composition, and other robustness checks. Regional heterogeneity analysis shows that the digital economy's impact was greatest on the western region, followed by the central and eastern regions. Background: Case management has been regarded as the front line of necessary change for fragmented healthcare system. Aim: This study proposed a case management intervention that is suitable for Chinese colorectal cancer patients and explored its effectiveness over a 12‐month follow‐up. Methods: A quasi‐experimental study was conducted in an oncology hospital in China. A total of 188 patients were recruited from May 2015 to February 2017; 85 patients in the control group and 80 patients in the intervention group were included in data analysis. The intervention group was managed for 1 year by a case manager who organized the multidisciplinary team, provided regular assessment, a consulting service and referrals. Quality of life, anxiety and depression, symptom distress, treatment adherence and unplanned readmission rates were measured. Results: Repeated measurement ANOVA showed significant intervention and time effects in global quality of life, anxiety and depression, symptom distress and oral chemotherapy adherence. The intervention group showed statistically significantly better overall treatment adherence and lower unplanned readmission rate. Conclusion: Nurse‐led case management was effective in improving psychosocial outcomes, treatment adherence and unplanned readmission rate of colorectal cancer patients. A case management model is feasible and effective in colorectal cancer patients and in hospital‐dominated healthcare systems where primary care is underutilized. GaoFen 7 (GF-7) is China's first submeter high-resolution stereo mapping satellite with dual-linear-array cameras and a laser altimeter system onboard for high-precision mapping. To further take advantage of the very high elevation accuracy of laser altimetry data and the high relative accuracy with stereo images, an innovative combined adjustment method for GF-7 stereo images with laser altimetry data is presented in this paper. In this method, two flexible and effective schemes were proposed to extract the elevation control point according to the registration of footprint images and stereo images and then utilized as vertical control in the block adjustment to improve the elevation accuracy without ground control points (GCPs). The validation experiments were conducted in Shandong, China, with different terrains. The results demonstrated that, after using the laser altimetry data, the root mean square error (RMSE) of elevation was dramatically improved from the original 2.15 m to 0.75 m, while the maximum elevation error was less than 1.6 m. Moreover, by integrating a few horizontal control points, the planar and elevation accuracy can be simultaneously improved. Gradually increasing durations of high temperature caused by climate change harm the health of individuals and then lead to death. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between durations of different daily mean air-temperature categories and mortality in China and forecast future mortality changes in China for 2020–2050 under Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP)4.5 and RCP8.5 scenarios. The daily mean air temperature was divided into 10 categories, and the days under each air-temperature category were counted during the period of 2000–2015. Then, the connection between the days of each of the 10 air-temperature categories and mortality was established using the semi parametric regression model. Results indicate that the days of the >32 °C category have the largest impact on mortality in China, with the death rate increasing by 23‰ for one additional day. Predictions reveal that mortality in China will increase 25.48% and 26.26% under the RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 scenarios, respectively. Moreover, the mortality of 86 regions in western China will increase 30.42%. Therefore, in the future, the increasing duration of days of high temperatures will raise the mortality rate in China and aggravate the mortality gap between developed and underdeveloped regions. Soil labile organic carbon sensitively reflects subtle changes in the soil carbon pool and is an important aspect of forest soil carbon pool research. However, little is known regarding soil labile organic carbon storage and its dynamic changes during the development of Quercus acutissima Carruth. forests. Consequently, we investigated the dynamic changes in soil organic carbon and its labile organic carbon fraction stocks at soil depths of 0–10 cm, 10–20 cm, and 20–40 cm along a 17-year-old, 26-year-old, and 65-year-old chronosequence in Quercus acutissima forests. We found that stand age significantly impacted particulate organic carbon (POC), light fraction organic carbon (LFOC), and soil organic carbon (SOC). The POC, LFOC, and SOC contents at different soil depths exhibited an increasing trend with stand age, which could be described by simple linear regression. However, there was no noteworthy difference in the soil water-soluble organic carbon (WSOC) content between different stand ages. Moreover, the 17-year-old, stand had higher POC, LFOC, and WSOC to SOC ratios. Soil nutrients significantly affected organic carbon and fractions, which revealed that POC, LFOC, WSOC, and SOC were remarkably positively correlated with alkaline hydrolysis nitrogen (AN) and available phosphorus (AP) (p < 0.05). Furthermore, WSOC, POC, LFOC, and SOC were significantly positively correlated with available potassium (AK) (p < 0.05). POC, LFOC, and SOC storage in the 0–40 cm soil layer increased with stand development, while WSOC storage decreased at 65a. In addition, LFOC stocks accounted for the highest proportion of organic carbon stocks. Our results indicated that the development of Quercus acutissima forests was a process of carbon sink; however, the soil organic carbon activity was high, and the soil structure was unstable during the early development stage. Handan city as a transportation hub in North China, air quality ranks at the bottom all year round, causing environmental pollution that has aroused widespread concern. In order to explore the pollution characteristics and main sources of heavy metals in atmospheric wet deposition in the city, and comparison of the applicability of multiple traceability models, a total of 76 wet deposition samples were collected in the three functional areas from December 2017 to November 2019 by a dry and wet deposition automatic sampler. Concentrations of Cu, Zn, Cr, Ni, Pb, and As were determined and enrichment factors were calculated. Sources of these heavy metals were apportioned by PMF, Unmix, and APCS-MLR models, and analyzed using a backward trajectory analysis model. The results showed that the concentrations of these heavy metals in the atmospheric wet deposition were in order of Zn, Cr, Pb, Cu, Ni, and As, and their mean concentrations were 29.53, 14.11, 9.18, 7.03, 6.41, and 1.21 μg·L−1, respectively. According to the results of EF, the studied heavy metals were mainly affected by anthropogenic activities. The source apportionment results showed that heavy metal pollution in the wet deposition was mainly affected by traffic sources, industrial sources, and coal combustion sources, and PMF identified an additional source factor: metal smelting source. By comparing the relevant parameters of the source apportionment results of the three models, the APCS-MLR model has better accuracy results than PMF and Unmix models. The analysis of the backward trajectory of the air mass showed that the wet deposition of Handan in the study time was mainly from the southwest direction, accounting for 54.35%. In the future, more evaluation methods and models will be used to compare and analyze the different application scenarios and parameter selection requirements in order to contribute to urban atmospheric environmental pollution prevention and control work. Despite the importance of tourism for poverty relief, limited studies have investigated the relationship between tourism development and multidimensional poverty reduction. The present work investigated the tourism–poverty nexus from the perspective of multidimensional poverty (including poverty related to economic, education, health care and social welfare dimensions) on the basis of a decoupling analysis in 74 national poverty-stricken counties of Southwest China over the period of 2007–2016. The results reveal the following regularities. First, a positive synchronisation relationship exists between tourism development and multidimensional poverty reduction. Second, the relationship between tourism development and multidimensional poverty reduction is unstable, and the poverty reduction effects of tourism have been shrinking over the past decade. Third, with the development of tourism, the poverty reduction in economic, health care and the social welfare dimensions have made achievements in general, whereas the poverty reduction of education demonstrated an opposite trend. When a large-diameter shield crosses through bridge piles, stress and deformation of the bridge piles caused by tunnel excavation occurs. This is a an exciting topic of engineering research into the construction of subways. We considered an 15.8 m large-diameter shield machine made in China to excavate the Chunfeng tunnel as the background of our research. First, based on the previous engineering experience, reinforcement measures of the shield crossing the bridge piles were investigated. PLAXIS 3D finite element software was used to simulate the process of shield tunnelling through the piles of Hongling Interchange No. 1 Bridge. We analyzed the mechanical characteristics of the piles in the process of shield tunnelling through the bridge piles and evaluated the reliability of the reinforcement measures. Finally, combined with field monitoring data, the accuracy of the model and the rationality of the treatment measures were verified. This research considered a successful case of 15.8 m large-diameter adjacent shield tunnelling bridge piles. Analysis of the stratum and the mechanical behavior of bridge piles in the process of crossing provides a theoretical reference for engineering measures on similar projects in the future. Soil enzyme activities in different plantation types and land use patterns could indicate changes in soil quality. This research was aimed at exploring the dynamics of soil enzyme activities involved in carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus cycling, and their responses to changes in soil physicochemical properties resulting from natural vegetation restorations and plantation schemes. Knowing about the effects of soil physicochemical properties on soil enzyme patterns is crucial for understanding ecosystem functions and processes. The study selected four main land-use types (natural forestland, natural grassland, artificial forestland, and artificial grassland) and one control plot (bare land) in the West Qinling Mountains, China, which is a typical landslide region. We collected the soil samples from each land use type and tested their physicochemical properties and enzyme activities compared with control land. The results showed that both natural vegetation restoration and artificial plantation schemes have significant effects on enzyme activities. Soil physicochemical properties explained 92.2% of the variation in soil enzyme activities for natural vegetation restoration, while it only explained 77.8% of the variation in soil enzyme activities for plantation schemes. Objective: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, a major public health crisis, harms individuals' mental health. This 3-wave repeated survey aimed to examine the prevalence and correlates of suicidal ideation at different stages of the COVID-19 pandemic in a large sample of college students in China. Methods: Using a repeated cross-sectional survey design, we conducted 3 online surveys of college students during the COVID-19 pandemic at 22 universities in Guandong, China. The 3 surveys were conducted during the outbreak period (T1: 3 February to 10 February 2020, N = 164,101), remission period (T2: 24 March to 3 April 2020, N = 148,384), and normalized prevention and control period (T3: 1 June to 15 June 2020, N = 159,187). Suicidal ideation was measured by the ninth item of the Patient Health Questionnaire-9. A range of suicide-related factors was assessed, including sociodemographic characteristics, depression, anxiety, insomnia, pre-existing mental health problems, and COVID-19-related factors. Results: The prevalence of suicidal ideation was 8.5%, 11.0% and 12.6% at T1, T2, and T3, respectively. Male sex (aOR: 1.35–1.44, Ps < 0.001), poor self-perceived mental health (aOR: 2.25–2.81, Ps < 0.001), mental diseases (aOR: 1.52–2.09, P < 0.001), prior psychological counseling (aOR: 1.23–1.37, Ps < 0.01), negative perception of the risk of the COVID-19 epidemic (aOR: 1.14–1.36, Ps < 0.001), depressive symptoms (aOR: 2.51–303, Ps < 0.001) and anxiety symptoms (aOR: 1.62–101.11, Ps < 0.001) were associated with an increased risk of suicidal ideation. Conclusion: Suicidal ideation appeared to increase during the COVID-19 pandemic remission period among college students in China. Multiple factors, especially mental health problems, are associated with suicidal ideation. We conducted a comparative study of the COVID-19 epidemic in three different settings: mainland China, the Guangdong province of China and South Korea, by formulating two disease transmission dynamics models which incorporate epidemic characteristics and setting-specific interventions, and fitting the models to multi-source data to identify initial and effective reproduction numbers and evaluate effectiveness of interventions. We estimated the initial basic reproduction number for South Korea, the Guangdong province and mainland China as 2.6 (95% confidence interval (CI): (2.5, 2.7)), 3.0 (95%CI: (2.6, 3.3)) and 3.8 (95%CI: (3.5,4.2)), respectively, given a serial interval with mean of 5 days with standard deviation of 3 days. We found that the effective reproduction number for the Guangdong province and mainland China has fallen below the threshold 1 since February 8th and 18th respectively, while the effective reproduction number for South Korea remains high until March 2nd Moreover our model-based analysis shows that the COVID-19 epidemics in South Korean is almost under control with the cumulative confirmed cases tending to be stable as of April 14th. Through sensitivity analysis, we show that a coherent and integrated approach with stringent public health interventions is the key to the success of containing the epidemic in China and especially its provinces outside its epicenter. In comparison, we find that the extremely high detection rate is the key factor determining the success in controlling the COVID-19 epidemics in South Korea. Eradicating child poverty and shrinking urban–rural disparity are the common goals of humanity. In contemporary China, significant differences exist in child poverty between urban and rural regions, despite the remarkable achievements that have been made in child poverty reduction. Using the national datasets of China Family Panel Studies, this study explored the spatio–temporal changes and influencing factors of urban–rural disparity in child poverty (URDCP) in China between 2010 and 2018 based on the Alkire–Foster approach, spatial autocorrelation analysis and Geodetector method. Results indicated that the URDCP has been shrinking since 2010 and that the urban–rural gap in child poverty increased from east to west due to the combined influence of urban–rural differences and regional poverty disparity. The urban–rural differences in child poverty were mainly reflected in the dimensions of nutrition and living standards. Generally, family conditions, mobility and medical resources were the main contributors of spatial variations in URDCP. Objective: We aimed to examine the illness perception characteristics of patients with myasthenia gravis and analyze the associated factors. Methods: A general information questionnaire, Illness Perception Questionnaire, and Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire were used to survey 90 patients with myasthenia gravis. One‐way analysis of variance and multivariate linear regression were used for statistical analysis. Results: The timeline (acute/chronic), consequence, and emotional representation scores of patients with myasthenia gravis were 18.31 ± 4.47, 18.58 ± 3.57, and 20.80 ± 4.56, respectively. Multivariate stepwise linear regression analysis showed that marital status, disease duration, educational level, disease type, and coping style are factors associated with illness perception in patients with myasthenia gravis. Conclusion: Patients who have myasthenia gravis have a negative illness perception. Medical professionals should provide targeted intervention measures based on the factors associated with illness perception. There is a need to improve current illness perception scores among patients with myasthenia gravis. The results of this study showed that coping style, marital status, and educational level are important factors related to illness perception among patients with myasthenia gravis. Patients who have myasthenia gravis have a negative illness perception. Medical professionals should provide targeted intervention measures based on the factors associated with illness perception. Background: Previous assessments of sex differences for patients with acute ischemic stroke were limited in a specific region or population, narrow scope, or small sample size. Methods: Patients with acute ischemic stroke hospitalized in the China Stroke Center Alliance hospitals were analyzed. Absolute standardized differences (ASDs) were used to assess sex differences in vascular risk factors, guideline‐recommended in‐hospital management measures and outcomes, including stroke severity (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale≥16), death/discharge against medical advice, major adverse cardiovascular events, pneumonia, and disability (modified Rankin Scale≥3). Results: Of 838,229 patients analyzed, 524351 (62.6%) were men and 313,878 (37.4%) were women. Compared with men, women were older (68.6 vs. 64.7 years), had higher prevalence of hypertension (67.7% vs. 62.4%), diabetes (24.7% vs. 19.5%), and atrial fibrillation (7.1% vs. 4.3%), but lower prevalence of smoking (4.5% vs. 56.6%) and drinking (2.6% vs 35.8%) (ASDs >10%). No sex differences were seen in guideline‐directed management measures, indicated by risk‐adjusted individual measures and the all‐or‐null summary measure (34.5% vs 34.9%, ASD = 1.0%). Compared to men, women tended to have strokes that were more severe at presentation (6.5% vs. 4.5%, ASD = 8.8%) and more disabilities at discharge (34.9% vs 30.5%, ASD =9.4%). However, all sex‐related differences in outcomes were attenuated to null after risk adjustments (ASDs<2%). Conclusions: Compared to male patients, female patients had more vascular risk factors and received similar in‐hospital care. Purpose: To explore the relationship among leisure motivation, barriers, attitude and satisfaction of middle school students in Chengdu, Sichuan, to help students establish a positive leisure attitude and provide a reference for youth leisure counseling. Methods: Based on consulting research literature, this paper designs a survey volume of teenagers' leisure motivation, barriers, attitude, and satisfaction; 2249 valid questionnaires of middle school students in Chengdu were obtained by stratified random sampling. The data were statistically processed by the combination of exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Results: (1) There are significant positive correlation effects between leisure motivation and leisure attitude, leisure attitude and leisure satisfaction, and leisure motivation and leisure satisfaction; (2) There is a low degree of positive correlation effect (r = 0.35 *) between leisure barriers and leisure motivation, which is contrary to common sense and needs to be further studied in the follow-up; (3) Leisure barriers has no significant direct impact on leisure satisfaction, but it can have a significant negative impact on leisure satisfaction with the intermediary variable of leisure attitude; (4) Leisure motivation is the most important variable in the whole leisure model structure. It not only has the greatest direct impact on leisure satisfaction but also has a great positive impact on leisure satisfaction through the intermediary of leisure attitude. Conclusion: Adolescent leisure motivation, barriers, attitude, and satisfaction are complementary and interdependent. Among them, leisure motivation is the core variable and leisure attitude is the dual intermediary variable. The pandemic of the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has caused severe harm to the health of people all around the world. Molecular detection of the pathogen, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), played a crucial role in the control of the disease. Reverse transcription digital PCR (RT-dPCR) has been developed and used in the detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA as an absolute quantification method. Here, an interlaboratory assessment of quantification of SARS-CoV-2 RNA was organized by the National Institute of Metrology, China (NIMC), using in vitro transcribed RNA samples, among ten laboratories on six different dPCR platforms. Copy number concentrations of three genes of SARS-CoV-2 were measured by all participants. Consistent results were obtained with dispersion within 2.2-fold and CV% below 23% among different dPCR platforms and laboratories, and Z′ scores of all the reported results being satisfactory. Possible reasons for the dispersion included PCR assays, partition volume, and reverse transcription conditions. This study demonstrated the comparability and applicability of RT-dPCR method for quantification of SARS-CoV-2 RNA and showed the capability of the participating laboratories at SARS-CoV-2 test by RT-dPCR platform. Urban residents' travel is an important component of carbon emissions and is becoming a hot topic in discussions on how to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. Existing studies mainly focus on low-carbon travel behaviours and intentions independently, ignoring the inconsistency between the two. This paper uses a bivariate probit model based on questionnaire survey data to explore the consistency between urban residents' intentions and behaviour. The results show that sociodemographic factors, TPB (theory of planned behaviour) factors, and situational factors all significantly impact the inconsistency. This paper provides careful analysis, and based on the results and analysis, proposes targeted suggestions to enhance the public intention of low-carbon travel and proper policies to improve low-carbon travel in cities. This research qualitatively explored user preferences for an app-based mHealth approach to support HIV self-testing and linkage to HIV prevention or care services developed for men who have sex with men (MSM) in China. We conducted 12 online focus group discussions with MSM participants (N = 48) about their preferences for using an app to meet their HIV self-testing and service linkage needs. Data were examined using thematic analysis. Participants specified four domains to align program delivery with their preferences for app-based intervention: (1) expanding HIV prevention/antiretroviral therapy concepts beyond basic knowledge; (2) enhancing the style and presentation of app-based messages; (3) incorporating interactive and dynamic app-engagement features; and (4) creating a "one station" app that covers the continuum of HIV services. Given the changing landscapes of HIV knowledge and community/user preferences for app-based interaction, findings underscore how engagement with end-user participants is essential to optimize mHealth interventions for HIV. Delayed vaccination in children with seizures was common in China. This study aims to describe the vaccination status, reasons for vaccination deferral, vaccination recommendations and the safety for these patients in Zhejiang. 1539 children included were divided into febrile seizure (FS) group, epilepsy (EP) group, unclassified seizure group and other symptomatic seizure group. Medical records and reasons for the vaccination deferral were collected by questionnaire. Vaccination data and Adverse Event Following Immunization were retrieved from vaccination booklets. The main diseases of children enrolled were FS (756, 49.1%) and EP (443, 28.8%). Most of them (95.6%) were vaccinated on time before the onset of seizure, but their vaccination was delayed after seizure occurred. 76.1% were recommended to receive vaccines normally, of which the FS group accounted for the highest proportion (90.3%). 88.73% of them were vaccinated as recommended, and no serious side effects or seizure occurred. The main reason for vaccination deferral was providers' and parents' hesitation to have them vaccinated. Seizures were overestimated as a contraindication for vaccination in China. Routine vaccination was safe in most circumstances. It is essential to educate providers and parents about the benefits and contraindications of vaccination in children with seizures. Datong Window is at the junction of Datong Basin and Liulengshan Range in the northern part of Shanxi Graben, China. It is important to analyze the relationship between the frequency of small earthquakes and the deep velocity structure in this region since the earthquake swarm in 1989 with the maximum surface-wave magnitude Ms of 5.9. A high-resolution 3D P-wave velocity model of the crust in this region was obtained with double-difference tomography using seismic data from July 2009 to June 2019. The results show that the Datong-Yanggao seismic sequence occurred, in general, within the NE rupture zone of the earthquake swarm of 1989. The sequences from 1991, 1999, and 2010 were in the rupture zone of 1989. A series of earthquakes developed in this region, which is at the intersection of multiple faults and a low-velocity anomaly of the intermediate-lower crust. A gap of length of about 3 km was found at the southwest end of the NE Dawangcun Fault (near Lujialing). Several moderate earthquake ruptures failed to break through it. It was speculated that it may be a potential asperity. There is a possibility of an earthquake with magnitude about 5 from the gap. The relocation results for the earthquakes show that intensive small-earthquake events in Datong Window corresponding to moderate-to-strong earthquakes in Shanxi Graben were highly clustered horizontally and distributed vertically in a column. In contrast, when there was no moderate earthquake in Shanxi Graben after intensive small-earthquake events, the spatial distribution of these events in Datong Window was scattered and dispersive. The Central Plains has a long history, rich culture, unique geographical advantages, and profound cultural heritage. The occurrence of ancient cities in the Central Plains marks the formation of Chinese state-level societies. The number, size, and distribution of ancient cities have changed greatly from the late Yangshao to the Xia and Shang Dynasties, which reflects the evolution of settlement and social organization. In this study, Geographic Information System (GIS) spatial database technology was used to establish a spatiotemporal database of ancient cities in the late Yangshao, Longshan, as well as Xia and Shang Dynasties in the Central Plains. This paper uses GIS spatial analysis technology to analyze the relationship between the ancient city distribution and the geographical environment, as well as the evolution of ancient city's shapes and sizes. Furthermore, by using the method of the nearest neighbor distance and gravity center analysis, this paper discusses the agglomeration characteristics and gravity center evolution of ancient cities. The results show that: (1) Most of the ancient cities were distributed in areas below 500 m and within 3 km from the river during the time interval from the late Yangshao to Xia and Shang Dynasties; (2) The shape of the ancient cities gradually changed from circles to squares in the Central Plains, which became a unified model for the later ancient city design; (3) The sizes of the 18 ancient cities in the Yangshao period shared high similarity, with an average area of 20 hectares. The sizes of 24 ancient cities in the Longshan period increased significantly, with an average of 39 hectares. During the Xia and Shang Dynasties, there were 22 ancient cities with an average size of 340 hectares, and the grade of sizes became obvious, marking the entrance into Chinese state-level societies; (4) Cities were scattered in the decentralized pattern during the late Yangshao and Longshan periods, whereas they became agglomerative in Xia and Shang Dynasties. This reflects the evolution of the spatial scopes and social organizational forms; and (5) From the late Yangshao to Xia and Shang Dynasties, the gravity center of ancient cities moved around the Songshan Mountain from the northwest to the southeast and again to the northeast. Background We aimed to describe the epidemiological, virological, and serological features of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in people living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV; PLWH). Methods This population-based cohort study identified all COVID-19 cases among all PLWH in Wuhan, China, by 16 April 2020. The epidemiological, virological, and serological features were analyzed based on the demographic data, temporal profile of nucleic acid test for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) during the disease, and SARS-CoV-2–specific immunoglobin (Ig) M and G after recovery. Results From 1 January to 16 April 2020, 35 of 6001 PLWH experienced COVID-19, with a cumulative incidence of COVID-19 of 0.58% (95% confidence interval [CI],.42–.81%). Among the COVID-19 cases, 15 (42.86) had severe illness, with 2 deaths. The incidence, case-severity, and case-fatality rates of COVID-19 in PLWH were comparable to those in the entire population in Wuhan. There were 197 PLWH who had discontinued combination antiretroviral therapy (cART), 4 of whom experienced COVID-19. Risk factors for COVID-19 were age ≥50 years old and cART discontinuation. The median duration of SARS-CoV-2 viral shedding among confirmed COVID-19 cases in PLWH was 30 days (interquartile range, 20–46). Cases with high HIV viral loads (≥20 copies/mL) had lower IgM and IgG levels than those with low HIV viral loads (<20 copies/ml; median signal value divided by the cutoff value [S/CO] for IgM, 0.03 vs 0.11, respectively [ P  < .001]; median S/CO for IgG, 10.16 vs 17.04, respectively [ P  = .069]). Conclusions Efforts are needed to maintain the persistent supply of antiretroviral treatment to elderly PLWH aged 50 years or above during the COVID-19 epidemic.
