Efficient aircraft turnaround operations at airports are vital to ensure overall air traffic network performance. After the outbreak of COVID-19, the traditional aircraft ground handling process has changed significantly due to new requirements put forward by the pandemic prevention and control policy. To better understand how COVID-19 has affected ground handling operations, a discrete-event simulation model of turnaround is established to analyze the change in the whole turnaround process before and after the pandemic. The critical path of turnaround operations was used to identify the significantly affected subprocesses to which airports should pay attention. For a case study on the two busiest airports in China, the aircraft turnaround time increased by about 18% after COVID-19. Cabin cleaning, catering, and passenger embarking were the main processes in causing this increase. By evaluating the impact mechanism of COVID-19 on turnaround operations, the study sheds light on strategic, tactical, and operational approaches for relevant authorities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The South Jingyang tableland, located in Shaanxi Province, China, is composed of loess deposits. Agricultural irrigation in this area has caused the continuous rise of the groundwater table, which triggered a series of loess landslides. Although extensive research has been conducted on the effect of rising groundwater tables on induced loess landslides, less is known about the groundwater table distribution. This study jointly investigated the distribution of the groundwater table in the South Jingyang tableland using boreholes, electrical resistivity tomography (ERT), and laboratory tests. A qualitative analysis between the apparent resistivity and the water content was estimated at different depths, using the borehole data and ERT inversion data. A quantitative relationship between the resistivity and the water content was established in the laboratory tests. A combination of the qualitative analysis of the inversion results and the quantitative relationship was used to determine the distribution of the groundwater table. The groundwater table is present at the depth where the water content of the loess is 30% (liquid limit of loess) and the resistivity is 28.35 Ω m. The groundwater table elevation in the southern study area is higher than that of the northern study area and decreases in a stepwise gradient from south to north. This study not only identified the distribution of the groundwater table in the South Jingyang tableland, but also makes up for the limitation and inaccuracy in determining groundwater tables by relying solely on the borehole information or inversion results of ERT. Deep low-rank coalbed methane (CBM) resources are numerous and widely distributed in China, although their exploration remains in its infancy. In this work, gas adsorption (N2/CO2), mercury intrusion porosimetry, and 3D CT reconstruction were performed on five coal samples of deep and shallow low-rank coal from northeast China to analyze their pore structure. The impact of the features in the pore structure at full scale on the capacity for methane adsorption and seepage is discussed. The results indicate that there are significant differences between deep low-rank coal and shallow low-rank coal in terms of porosity, permeability, composition, and adsorption capacity. The full-scale pore distribution was dispersed over a broad range and exhibited a multi-peak distribution, with the majority of the peak concentrations occurring between 0.45–0.7 nm and 3–4 nm. Mesopores are prevalent in shallow coal rock, whereas micropores are the most numerous in deep coal rock. The primary contributors to the specific surface area of both deep and superficial coal rock are micropores. Three-dimensional CT reconstruction can characterize pores with pore size greater than 1 μm, while the dominating equivalent pore diameters (Deq) range from 1 to 10 μm. More mini-scale pores and fissures are observed in deep coal rock, while shallow coal rock processes greater total and connection porosity. Multifractal features are prevalent in the fractal qualities of all the numbered samples. An enhancement in pore structure heterogeneity occurs with increasing pore size. The pore structure of deep coal rock is more heterogeneous. Furthermore, methane adsorption capacity is favorably connected with D1 (0.4 nm < pore diameter ≤ 2 nm), D2 (2 nm < pore diameter ≤ 5 nm), micropore volume, and specific surface area and negatively correlated with D3 (5 nm < pore diameter ≤ 50 nm), showing that methane adsorption capability is primarily controlled by micropores and mesopores. Methane seepage capacity is favorably connected with the pore volume and connected porosity of macropores and negatively correlated with D4 (pore diameter > 50 nm), indicating that the macropores are the primary factor influencing methane seepage capacity. Electricity is an essential resource that plays a vital role in modern society, and its demand has increased rapidly alongside industrialization. The accurate forecasting of a country's electricity demand is crucial for economic development. A high-precision electricity forecasting framework can assist electricity system managers in predicting future demand and production more accurately, thereby effectively planning and scheduling electricity resources and improving the operational efficiency and reliability of the electricity system. To address this issue, this study proposed a hybrid forecasting framework called T-LGBKS, which incorporates TPE-LightGBM, k-nearest neighbor (KNN), and the Shapley additive explanation (SHAP) methods. The T-LGBKS framework was tested using Chinese provincial panel data from 2005 to 2021 and compared with seven other mainstream machine learning models. Our testing demonstrated that the proposed framework outperforms other models, with the highest accuracy ( R 2 = 0.9732 ). This study also analyzed the interpretability of this framework by introducing the SHAP method to reveal the relationship between municipal electricity consumption and socioeconomic characteristics (such as how changes in economic strength, traffic levels, and energy structure affect urban electricity demand). Agricultural irrigation of the South Jingyang tableland in Shaanxi Province, China has led to a continuous rise of the groundwater level and has triggered a series of loess landslides, thereby seriously affecting the life and property safety of local residents. Research shows that the major cause of the landslide in the loess layer of the South Jingyang tableland is the rising groundwater level. Therefore, the research on the formation mechanism of landslide in this area should include the investigation of the stratigraphic structure and groundwater level distribution characteristics. On this basis, a series of approaches, such as electrical resistivity tomography (ERT), borehole, and laboratory tests, was carried out on the South Jingyang tableland, and the groundwater level distribution and stratigraphic structure in the study area were determined. The qualitative relationship between resistivity value and water content at different depths was detected using the inversion results of ERT and borehole data. Through laboratory tests, the quantitative relationship between resistivity values under different water contents was established. The precise depth of the groundwater level was inferred by connecting the qualitative relationship with the quantitative relationship, and then a detailed 3D geological model was established by linking the inversion results of ERT with the field borehole lithology data and geological survey data. The detection results show that when the qualitative and quantitative analyses of the ERT inversion results were combined, the distribution of the groundwater level was accurately judged. The ERT is effective in reflecting the stratigraphic structure and hydrological characteristics of the Loess Plateau, and its potential as a supplementary technology for detecting the groundwater level is reasonable. This study addresses the limitation and inaccuracy in determining the stratum structure and groundwater level by solely relying on borehole information or ERT. The established 3D geological model not only provides a basis for the study of groundwater table fluctuation, but also a technical guidance for the stability evaluation of loess slope, landslide prediction, and early warning in the study area. Pueraria lobata (known as Gegen) is an edible and medicinal herb that is a nutritious medicine food homology plant in China. Previous studies indicated that P. lobata plays an essential role in controlling cytokines. However, the exact mechanism of the inflammation response is still unknown. In this study, we observed the uptake of P. lobata-derived exosomes (Exos) in isolated mouse macrophages. Our results show that P. lobata-derived Exos shift M1 macrophages toward the M2. These data present that P. lobata and puerarin might exert and enhance anti-inflammatory effects through the activation of exosomes and shifts in macrophage polarization, providing strong evidence for the application of P. lobata as novel an anti-inflammatory therapeutic biomaterial. Background: There may be a delay in or a poor outcome of endovascular treatment (EVT) among acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients with large-vessel occlusion (LVO) during off-hours. By using a prospective, nationwide registry, we compared the workflow intervals and radiological/clinical outcomes between patients with acute LVO treated with EVT presenting during off- and on-hours. Methods: We analyzed prospectively collected Endovascular Treatment Key Technique and Emergency Work Flow Improvement of Acute Ischemic Stroke (ANGEL-ACT) data. Patients presenting during off-hours were defined as those presenting to the emergency department from Monday to Friday between 17:30 and 08:00, on weekends (from 17:30 on Friday to 08:00 on Monday), and on national holidays. We used logistic regression models with adjustment for potential confounders to determine independent associations between the time of presentation and outcomes. Results: Among 1,788 patients, 1,079 (60.3%) presented during off-hours. The median onset-to-door time and onset-to-reperfusion time were significantly longer during off-hours than during on-hours (165 vs. 125 min, P = 0.002 and 410 vs. 392 min, P = 0.027). The rates of successful reperfusion and symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage were similar in both groups. The adjusted odds ratio (OR) for the 90-day modified Rankin Scale score was 0.892 [95% confidence interval (CI), 0.748–1.064]. The adjusted OR for the occurrence of functional independence was 0.892 (95% CI, 0.724–1.098), and the adjusted OR for mortality was 1.214 (95% CI, 0.919–1.603). Conclusions: Off-hours presentation in the nationwide real-world registry was associated with a delay in the visit and reperfusion time of EVT in patients with AIS. Background: Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has gained increasing acceptance and popularity by the global community. The current study aimed to investigate self-reported evaluations of learning TCM and opinions about TCM courses among undergraduate international students majoring in conventional medicine at a university in China. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted at the Zhejiang University School of Medicine. A self-reported questionnaire was administered to international undergraduates who were enrolled in the TCM course during the 2018 and 2019 academic years (n = 157). The course employed a student-centered, multiform learning model. Demographic data and self-reported evaluations of TCM learning background and TCM learning course were obtained to conduct the analysis. Results: A total of 133 students responded to the questionnaire. Among the respondents, 21.0% had some TCM-related knowledge, and 51.1% were interested in learning TCM before the course. Ninety-six students (85.7%) were from Asia. Students from Thailand showed significantly more interest in learning TCM than did students from other Asian countries (p = 0.025). After the course, 77.2% of students agreed that the course had brought about many benefits, 86.4% were satisfied with the course content, and 77.3% were satisfied with the teaching method. Students expressed their willingness to further learn acupuncture and to obtain more skilled practice through more visualized learning methods. Conclusions: The majority of the international students we surveyed agreed that the TCM course improved their interest in and understanding of TCM. Background: Biqi capsule is a traditional Chinese medicine widely used as a complementary and alternative treatment for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The objective is to understand the efficacy, safety and mechanism of Biqi combined with methotrexate (MTX) in RA. Methods: We present a randomized, controlled pilot trial on Biqi combined with MTX against patients with active RA. Seventy patients were randomized 1:1 to receive Biqi + MTX or Leflunomide (LEF) + MTX for 24 weeks, and were assessed at baseline, 4, 12 and 24 weeks. Serum and urine samples were collected for metabolomics. Results: Overall, 81.2% patients in Biqi group achieved ACR20 at 24 weeks. No statistically significant differences were observed in primary or secondary outcomes between the two groups. A better safety profile was observed for Biqi with significantly fewer adverse effects reported (11.4%) compared to LEF group (40%, P < 0.05). Comparison between treatment responders and non-responders indicated a unique urine metabolic profile of enriched fatty acids and decreased acylcarnitines associated with Biqi responders, indicating a restored energy homeostasis in response to Biqi. The gene targets of these metabolites were significantly enriched in interleukin-4 and interleukin-13 pathways, implying that Biqi could ameliorate Th2-derived inflammatory response. Multivariate network analysis indicated that patient morning stiffness and SJC were key factors associated with metabolomics in Biqi-treated patients, whereas CRP was the main factor in LEF group. Therefore, Biqi and LEF likely work by influencing different patient clinical parameters. Conclusions: Our study suggests that Biqi capsule can be a promising alternative option in combination with MTX for RA treatment, and demonstrates the capability of using metabolomics to interrogate mechanism of action for traditional Chinese medicine. Although the trajectory of the marine mass extinction at the ∼252-Ma Permian-Triassic (P-Tr) boundary has been well studied, details of the coeval collapse of terrestrial ecosystems remain murky. Here, we use hydrocarbon biomarker compositions and other geological records (i.e., organic carbon isotopes (δ 13 C org), charcoal abundance, and Hg content) from a tropical peatland succession in southwestern China to reconstruct in detail the history of terrestrial ecosystem collapse during the P-Tr crisis. Our high-resolution hydrocarbon biomarker records reveal that this collapse proceeded in a stepwise manner with increasing intensity as the crisis unfolded. We recognize three discrete crisis stages: Stage I within the uppermost Xuanwei Formation and Stages II and III within the lowermost Kayitou Formation. Stage I, the early crisis stage, is marked by a significant decline in terrestrial biomass (continuing into the later stages), as recorded by reduced C 29 steranes relative to total steranes and a concomitant reduction in the ratio of pristane to phytane (Pr/Ph). Stage II, the main crisis stage, records intensified soil erosion and sediment flux as revealed by rising dibenzofuran (DBF) content and high hopane/sterane ratios, the disappearance of coal seams, a sharp negative shift in δ 13 C org , and peak concentrations of charcoal reflecting increased wildfire incidence. Stage III, the late crisis stage characterized by enhanced soil erosion, corresponds to peak values of Hg and Hg/TOC but no charcoal peak, suggesting intensified volcanism and a return to a humid climate. These stages closely follow temperature records, which show a stepwise rise during the crisis interval, implying that the deforestation process was strongly influenced by punctuated rises in temperature and/or its attendant effects (e.g., climate aridification). This P-Tr transition scenario suggests that global warming can trigger deforestation and reduce terrestrial carbon storage, thus serving as a positive climate feedback, with important implications for present-day climate change. • Three stages of terrestrial crisis are recognized during P-Tr in South China. • Plant biomass was decreased and soil erosion was enhanced during P-Tr crisis. • The crisis of the terrestrial and marine ecosystems can be well correlated. • Rising temperature played a substantial role in the terrestrial crisis. The Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK/STAT) pathway is involved in regulating the body's immunity, cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Members of the STAT family have been extensively studied in different mammalian species. However, there are few studies on the STAT family genes in farmed economic fish. In this study, eight STAT genes including STAT1a , STAT1b, STAT2 , STAT3 , STAT4 , STAT5a , STAT5b and STAT6 , in blunt snout bream (Megalobrama amblycephala), an economically important fish in China, were identified and characterized. Analyses of gene location, phylogeny and conserved synteny were conducted to infer the evolutionary origin of these STAT family genes. Furthermore, the evolutionary origin model of STATs was constructed based on the 2R hypothesis and teleost genome duplication (TGD) hypothesis, which clarified the evolutionary origin of the eight STATs in blunt snout bream. Besides, expression of the eight STATs was detected in 10 tissues of healthy blunt snout bream, which showed different expression patterns, and all had the highest level in the blood. In addition, expression of the STATs was significantly induced in the spleen, liver, and kidney after infection of Aeromonas hydrophila , suggesting that they play an important role in protecting the host from pathogens. In general, the evolution of cytokine-related genes parallels that of the immune system, which has likely been a main evolutionary driver. Objectives: This study aimed to explore the effects of removable aligners and fixed appliances on the supragingival bacterial communities in adult female patients undergoing orthodontic treatment., Methods: Supragingival plaque samples from 48 female individuals underwent microbiome analysis (16S rRNA gene sequencing) using PacBio Sequel sequencing. The study included 13 adults without orthodontic treatment needs as the control group (Group C), and 35 patients with comparable initial orthodontic conditions who received treatment at a university clinic in Beijing, China. The treatment involved either traditional fixed brackets (Group B, n = 17) or Invisalign ® aligners (Group AT, n = 18). Bioinformatics methods were used for data analysis., Results: From the 48 plaque samples, a total of 334,961 valid reads were obtained, averaging 6,978 sequences per sample. The 16S rDNA sequences were classified into 25,727 amplicon sequence variants (ASVs). Significant variances in alpha and beta diversity among the groups were noted. Group B microbiome exhibited an increased presence of Gram-negative bacteria. At the phylum level, Actinobacteriota was significantly more prevalent in Group C samples, while Bacteroidota was enriched in Group B samples. Family-level relative abundance analysis showed a notable increase in Saccharibacteria (formerly TM7) and Prevotellaceae in Group B. Genus-level analysis revealed a significant rise in Lautropia in Group AT. Fixed orthodontic appliances were linked to oral microbiome changes, notably an enhanced relative abundance of anaerobes, including periodontal pathogens., Conclusion: The observation points to the impact of orthodontic appliance on the oral microbial community, highlighting the difference between traditional braces (Group B) and clear aligners (Group AT)in terms of the predominance of anaerobic and gram negative bacteria. This emphasizes the importance of considering the microbiological effects when choosing orthodontic appliance and underscores the need for tailored oral hygiene practices for individuals undergoing these treatments. Purpose: Heart failure (HF) is a serious and complex syndrome with a high mortality rate. In clinical diagnosis, the correct classification of HF is helpful. In our previous work, we proposed a self-supervised learning framework of HF classification (SSLHF) on cine cardiac magnetic resonance images (Cine-CMR). However, this method lacks the integration of three dimensions of spatial information and temporal information. Thus, this study aims at proposing an automatic 4D HF classification algorithm., Methods: To construct a 4D classification model, we proposed an extensional framework called 4D-SSLHF. It mainly consists of self-supervised image restoration and HF classification. The image restoration proxy task utilizes three image transformation methods to enhance the exploration of spatial and temporal information in the Cine-CMR. In the classification task, we proposed a Siamese Conv-LSTM network by combining the Siamese network and bi-directional Conv-LSTM to integrate the features of the four dimensions simultaneously., Results: Experimental results on 184 patients from Shanghai Chest Hospital achieved an AUC of 0.8794 and an ACC of 0.8402 in the five-fold cross-validation. Compared with our previous work, the improvements in AUC and ACC were 2.89 % and 1.94 %, respectively., Conclusions: In this study, we proposed a novel self-supervised learning framework named 4D-SSLHF for HF classification based on Cine-CMR. The proposed 4D-SSLHF can mine 3D spatial information and temporal information in Cine-CMR images well and accurately classify different categories of HF. Vision is important for fish to forage food and fishes express opsin genes to receive visual signals. Chinese perch (Siniperca chuatsi) larvae prey on other fish species larvae at firstfeeding but donoteat any zooplankton, the expression of opsin genes in S. chuatsilarvae is unknown. In this study, we conducted a whole-genome analysis and demonstrated that S. chuatsihave5cone opsin genes (sws1, sws2Aα, sws2Aβ, rh2and lws)and 2 rod opsin genes (rh1and rh1-exorh). The syntenicanalysisshowedthe flanking genes ofall opsin genes were conserved during fish evolution, but the ancestorof S. chuatsimightlost some opsin gene copies duringtheevolution.The phylogeneticanalysisshowed sws1of S. chuatsiwas closest to those of Lates calcariferwhich had a truncated sws1gene; the sws2Aα, sws2Aβ,lws,rh2,rh1 andrh1-exorh of S. chuatsihad a closer relationship with those of Percomorpha fishes.Importantly, results of in situhybridization showed the sws1 opsingene,which is related to forage zooplankton,had extremely low levelexpression in retinaat early stages.Surprisingly, the rh2 opsin gene had a high level expression at firstfeeding stage. The sws2Aα, sws2Aβand lwshad a little expression at early stages but the lwsshowed a increasing trend with larval development, rh1 opsin gene expression appeared at15 dph. Background: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is associated with carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT), which is a good predictor of cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, among individuals with MetS, direct comparative data regarding the utility of the apoB/apoAΙ ratio and the non-HDL-C/HDL-C ratio to diagnose carotid atherosclerosis are scarce, particularly in Chinese populations. We aimed to determine the relationship between the apoB/apoAΙ ratio and the non-HDL-C/HDL-C ratio and carotid atherosclerosis among Chinese individuals with MetS., Methods: We performed a retrospective study of 5822 Chinese participants who underwent a routine health screening examination. Lipid profiles, fasting glucose, fasting insulin, CRP, apoB, apoAΙ and CIMT were measured., Results: We observed that among Chinese individuals with MetS, men (53.95±0.58 ys) developed carotid atherosclerosis at a younger age than women (58.47±1.17 ys) (P<0.001). Both the apoB/apoAΙ ratio and the non-HDL-C/HDL-C ratio positively correlated with carotid atherosclerosis among Chinese individuals with MetS, particularly among women. Meanwhile, CIMT increased progressively across the quartiles of the non-HDL-C/HDL-C ratio (P for trend, <0.05). Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analysis indicated that the AUC of the apoB/apoAΙ ratio (0.561) was higher than that of the non-HDL-C/HDL-C ratio (0.522) in men (P<0.05) and the AUC of the apoB/apoAΙ ratio (0.640) was lower than that of the non-HDL-C/HDL-C ratio (0.695) in women (P<0.05). Among Chinese individuals with MetS, the AUC of the non-HDL-C/HDL-C ratio was more prominent among women compared with men (P<0.05)., Conclusion: Our findings indicate that among individuals with MetS, Chinese men develop carotid atherosclerosis at a much younger age than women. There were no significant differences between the apoB/apoAΙ ratio and the non-HDL-C/HDL-C ratio for the prediction of carotid atherosclerosis among Chinese individuals with MetS. Among Chinese individuals with MetS, the utility of the non-HDL-C/HDL-C ratio was found to be greater among women than among men.

The schizothoracine fishes, also known as "mountain carps" are widely distributed in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and its peripheral regions. Although they provide a prime example of high altitude adaptation, the phylogenetic relationships and the divergence times among these carp lineages are still controversial. Moreover, the genetic basis for high altitude adaptation is also poorly understood. In this study, we determined the mitochondrial genomes from two species of the schizothoracine fishes, representing a "morphologically primitive" clade and "morphologically specialized" clade, respectively. The phylogenetic tree and the divergence times were estimated within the evolutionary framework of the entire order Cypriniformes. Our results indicate a polyphylyetic relationship of the schizothoracine fishes and suggest two independent migration events into the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau: one by the "morphologically primitive" clade in the Late Miocene and another by the "morphologically specialized" clade in the Eocene. Rapid speciation events of each clade from the Late Miocene to the Pliocene correspond to the timing of the geologic acceleration of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. Interestingly, we found evidence for positive selection acting on the protein coding genes in the mitochondrial genomes of the "morphologically specialized" clade, implying a possible genetic basis for high altitude adaptation in this derived lineage of cypriniform fishes., (Copyright © 2013 Elsevier B.V.
