China is currently at a critical stage in transitioning from a large petrochemical country to a powerful one. To clarify the relationship between the development of the petrochemical industry and local ecological economy and explore the scientific development path for the industry, this paper analyzes the influence of petrochemical industry agglomeration on local ecological efficiency. By using panel data from 30 provincial units between 2012 and 2021, the study also investigates the mediating effect of green technology innovation on this relationship. Results show that the agglomeration of China's petrochemical industry positively affects local ecological efficiency. However, given some issues such as separation of production and innovation activities within the industry, a negative correlation exists between the agglomeration level of the petrochemical industry in China and the level of green technology innovation. Consequently, the agglomeration of China's petrochemical industry cannot enhance ecological efficiency through the mediating effect of green technology innovation level. The substantial resource consumption by green technology innovation has not translated into effective ecological economic benefits, which has increased the burden on ecological functions and resulted in a negative effect on ecological efficiency. The research conclusions and proposed measures hold significant implications for the scientific planning of the development of China's petrochemical industry, as well as for promoting regional economic growth and ecological construction. Modern development often entails entering into “modern civilization”; yet the abstract understanding of this civilization hides its essential rules and historical nature. China has pursued development on different historical premises from the West, and therefore it belongs only partially to modern capitalist civilization. Its rapid development highlights the historical limits of the latter. Realistic prospects for Chinese development imply a transformation and remodeling of China’s overall way of life, attitudes to life and values, and this inevitably calls for a new form of philosophy. The intellectual sources for this new philosophy are Chinese philosophy, Western philosophy and Marxist philosophy. Questions needing further reflection and exploration are: What does the genesis and expansion of this topic actually mean? Within what horizon can we reveal its fundamental nature and draw further conclusions? What intellectual task will be presented to us in the course of fixing its direction? An in-depth probe into these questions, that is, the core issue in the contemporary construction of the Chinese system of academic discourse, is how contemporary academic discourse can enter deep into the specific content ushered in by our historical practice, so that this content can be truly grasped intellectually and studied academically. Examines the situation of nongovernmental children's welfare institutions based on field investigation in China. This article examines the state's changing role in welfare provision to vulnerable children in a Chinese city and identifies three historical periods: a precommunist period, in which the private sector was the backbone of welfare provision for children; an early period in the communist regime, when the state monopolized welfare provision for children; and a posttransition period, in which state institutional care is increasingly replaced by family care and the role of charity is increasing. China's shift in welfare policy is toward a new model that emphasizes partnerships among the state, families, nongovernmental agencies, and other constituents of civil society. China has a long tradition of Confucianism, it has also been dominated by a communist ideology for a few decades. How did these different beliefs and principles influence its welfare system in the past? Towards which direction is the system shifting when the balance of power between the state (the dominant ideology) and society (with its own traditions) has been changed? This article analyses the case of `Foster Mother Villages' and the Datong Social Welfare Institution. The case of Datong shows that, although the influence of official communist ideology was dominant in the overall system of child protection in China, traditional factors were also influential. The dominant role of official ideology has to be underpinned by financial support from the state. Where the government failed to provide the support, the traditional factor became dominant in the main institutional arrangements: that is the reason why institutional care failed to replace foster care in Datong city. In the past 50 years, spanning the eras of both planned economy and market reform in China, the Datong Social Welfare Institution has protected more than 6,500 orphaned, lost and abandoned children, and most of these children have finally achieved a normal family life. The article focuses on the issue regarding Marxist philosophical studies in contemporary China. It stresses that Marxist philosophy is a landmark in the intellectual history of man. It adds that the basic feature of Marxist philosophy is that it calls for an exploration of contemporary social reality with a clear consciousness and determined will so as to respond actively in important social issues. It also states that current studies in China of Marxist philosophy, intermingling and dialogue between scholarship and reality are growing and have assumed a dominant role.

Fasciclin-like arabinogalactan proteins (FLAs), a subclass of arabinogalactan proteins (AGPs), have both predicted AGP-like glycosylated regions and putative fasciclin (FAS) domains, which may function in cell adhesion and communication. Previous studies have identified 21, 27, and 34 FLAs in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana), rice (Oryza sativa), and wheat (Triticum aestivum), respectively. In this study, we identified 33 FLAs in the annotated genome of Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa ssp. pekinensis line Chiifu-401-42). Sequence analysis indicated that FAS domains each contain two highly conserved regions, named H1 and H2, and that 17 FLAs from B. rapa (BrFLAs) possess both of these regions. Prediction of glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) modification sites suggested that 15 BrFLAs were GPI-anchored to the plasma membrane. Additionally, 25 BrFLAs may have been duplicated during the processes that shaped the triplicated genome of the mesopolyploid B. rapa. Expression analyses indicated that BrFLA1, BrFLA11, BrFLA13, BrFLA28 and BrFLA32 were specifically expressed in inflorescence. Meanwhile, BrFLA9 (homologous to AtFLA12) is specifically expressed in stem, and BrFLA6/22 (homologous to AtFLA11) is also highly expressed in stem, suggesting BrFLA6/9/22 may have the same functions as AtFLA11/12 in A. thaliana. Taken together, the identification and bioinformatic analysis of FLAs in B. rapa will open the way for studying their biological functions in plant growth and development as well as evolutionary history of this gene family from A. thaliana to B. rapa.
