Accurately estimating the duration of freeway incidents can enhance emergency management practices and reduce the likelihood of secondary incidents. To investigate the mechanisms through which key factors influence incident duration, this study sorted out the characteristics and variables of the incident duration on a special freeway in Zhejiang Province, that is, the ring road, and developed a latent class accelerated hazard model. Heterogeneity was incorporated into the model. Three distributions (Weibull, Log-normal, and Log-logistic) were compared, and the Log-logistic distribution exhibited superior performance. The analysis revealed two distinct latent classes: Latent Class 1 and Class 2, had class membership probability of 0.53 and 0.47, respectively, with a total of 11 variables being statistically significant at the 0.05 significance level. It is worth noting that, some neglected explanatory variables are discussed in depth in this study. For example, the mechanism of which specific lane is closed has an impact on the incident duration, rather than a general discussion of the number of lane closures. Furthermore, the way in which the driver involved in the incident reports to the police has a significant impact on the duration of incidents. Notably, potential heterogeneity and its influencing mechanism are captured in the model. Additionally, by predicting class membership using posterior probabilities, it was determined that most data points were more likely to belong to Class 1, and the incident duration primarily ranged between 0 and 60 minutes. These findings are helpful to reduce the duration of incidents on ring-roads and freeways in China, and provide theoretical support for the formulation of freeway incident management and treatment policies., Competing Interests: The authors have declared that no competing interests exist., (Copyright: © 2024 Shen et al. With the rapid growth of the Chinese zebrafish community, there is an increasing demand for various types of zebrafish-related resources and technologies. The China Zebrafish Resource Center (CZRC, web: http://zfish.cn) was established at the Institute of Hydrobiology (IHB), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2012. Till now, CZRC has built the largest zebrafish aquaculture unit in China, organized a resource bank containing more than 1200 zebrafish lines and more than 10 000 frozen sperm samples, among which over 200 mutant and transgenic lines were generated by CZRC. CZRC has established several technical supporting platforms, such as the zebrafish husbandry and health control program of international standard, a high-efficient gene manipulation technology platform, and a stable and efficient sperm cryopreservation technology platform. The main task of CZRC is to provide different types of services to zebrafish investigators in China and worldwide, such as resource services (e.g. zebrafish lines), technical services (e.g. gene knockout) and transgenic services, consultancy services (e.g. zebrafish husbandry and health consultation), and conference services [e.g. holding regular technical training courses and biennale Chinese Zebrafish Principal Investigator Meeting (CZPM)]. After five years' development, CZRC is now recognized as one of the three major resource centers in the global zebrafish community.

Aim: To investigate the clinical characteristics, surgical strategies and prognosis of solid pseudopapillary tumors (SPTs) of the pancreas in male patients., Methods: From July 2003 to March 2013, 116 patients were diagnosed with SPT of the pancreas in our institution. Of these patients, 16 were male. The patients were divided into two groups based on gender: female (group 1) and male (group 2). The groups were compared with regard to demographic characteristics, clinical presentations, surgical strategies, complications and follow-up outcomes., Results: Male patients were older than female patients (43.1 ± 12.3 years vs 33.1 ± 11.5 years, P = 0.04). Tumor size, location, and symptoms were comparable between the two groups. All patients, with the exception of one, underwent complete surgical resection. The patients were regularly followed up. The mean follow-up period was 58 mo. Two female patients (1.7%) developed tumor recurrence or metastases and required a second resection, and two female patients (1.7%) died during the follow-up period., Conclusion: Male patients with SPT of the pancreas are older than female patients. There are no significant differences between male and female patients regarding surgical strategies and prognosis.
