Purpose: To investigate the efficacy of the combination of amiodarone and atenolol in the treatment of patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) complicated with arrhythmia, and its effect on serum levels of CD-40L, TNF-a and IL-6. Methods: One hundred and twenty CAD patients with arrhythmia on admission in The First People's Hospital of Shuangliu District Chengdu, China were assigned to groups A and B, each having 60 patients. Amiodarone was administered to all the patients, while atenolol was additionally given to patients in group A. Levels of heart function indicators, inflammatory factors, blood pressure, heart rate, adverse reaction rate (ARR) and overall efficacy were evaluated for the two groups. Results: There were significantly improved levels of heart function indicators, and lower levels of CD40L, TNF-a and IL-6 in group A, when compared with group B (p < 0.001). Moreover, treatment effectiveness was higher in group A than in group B (p < 0.05). However, there was no significant difference (p > 0.05) in ARR between groups A and B. Conclusion: The combined use of amiodarone and atenolol improves heart function indicators in patients with CAD and arrhythmia, reduces the levels of inflammatory factors, normalizes blood pressure and heart rate, and lowers ARR. Objective: Coronary artery disease (CAD) causes more than 1 million deaths in China annually. The incidence of coronary artery disease tends to increase in the middle age and elderly people. Pulse pressure is associated with increased risk of CAD in middle-aged and older subjects, whereas soluble receptor for advanced glycation end products (sRAGE) and S100A12 are involved in pathology of atherosclerosis. In this study, we examine the associations of the expression level of sRAGE, S100A12 and PP value in both CAD and non-CAD groups; thus, providing more comprehensive strategies on preventing CAD. Method: Selected were divided into two main groups based on their angiograph results: CAD group (patients with at least one coronary artery of more than 50% occlusion) and Non-CAD Group (patients with less than 50% occlusion or without coronary artery occlusion). Soluble RAGE (sRAGE) and S100A12 concentration in blood samples were collected before CAG procedure were measured using ELISA. Pulse Pressure was measure from the difference between SBP and DBP Results: Significant decrease in concentration of serum sRAGE (p<0.05) and S100A12 (p<0.01) was observed, while PP value (p<0.01) had significantly higher level in patients with CAD. The value of PP (r = 0.35, p < 0.01), expression level of both sRAGE (r = -0.21, p < 0.01) and S100A12 (r = -0.24, p < 0.01) had association with prevalence of CAD. Conclusion: Low level of sRAGE expression and higher pulse pressure in CAD group are associated to coronary artery disease within middle age and elderly people of the Chinese population. Abstract: Objective: Our aim was to investigate the association between IL-16 gene polymorphisms (rs4778889 C/T and rs11556218 G/T) and coronary artery disease (CAD). Design and methods: The initial cohort consisted of 300 CAD patients and 397 controls from the Chinese Han population. Genotyping was performed by using polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP). The positive association between polymorphism and CAD was replicated in another independent cohort, which included 424 CAD cases and 332 controls. Results: In the initial study, the allele and genotype frequencies of rs4778889 were not different between in CAD and controls (P>0.05). However, The G allele frequency of rs11556218 was significantly higher in the CAD cases than in the controls (CAD, 46.8% vs. controls, 22.8%, P<0.001). The risk of CAD was significantly higher in the G allele carriers than in the non-carriers (P<0.001, adjusted odds ratio=7.27; 95% confidence interval, 4.13–12.8). In the replication cohort, G carriers of rs11556218 also had a higher risk of CAD (P=0.005, adjusted OR=2.33; 95% confidence interval, 1.45–3.74). Conclusion: Our study suggested that IL-16 rs11556218 G/T polymorphism is significantly associated with the risk of CAD in the Chinese Han population. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Interleukin-9 (IL-9) plays important role in coronary artery disease (CAD). However, the exact relationship between them is not explored yet. Here, four tag SNPs covering IL9 (rs31563, rs2069868, rs2069870 and rs31564) were selected to conduct case-control association analyses in a total of 3704 individuals from Chinese Han population (1863 CAD vs 1841 control). Results showed that: first, rs2069868 was associated with CAD combined with hypertension (P adj  = 0.027); second, IL9 haplotype (CGAT) was associated with CAD (P adj  = 0.035), and the combination genotype of "rs31563&#95;CC/rs31564&#95;TT" would remarkably decrease the risk of CAD (P adj  = 0.001); third, significant associations were found between rs2069870 and decreased LDL-c levels and decreased total cholesterol levels, and between rs31563 and increased HDL-c levels (P adj  < 0.05). Therefore, we conclude that IL9 might play a causal role in CAD by interacted with CAD traditional risk factors, which might confer a new way to improve the prevention and treatment of CAD., (Copyright © 2021. Previous studies showed that PHACTR1 and SLC22A3 are involved in coronary vascular development and are key determinants of cardiovascular disease risk. We conducted a case-control study to examine the effect of SLC22A3 and PHACTR1 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on CAD risk among 376 male CAD patients and 388 male healthy controls from China. Eleven SLC22A3 and PHACTR1 SNPs were selected and genotyped using Sequenom Mass-ARRAY technology. Odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using unconditional logistic regression adjusting for age. The rs9381439 minor allele "A" (OR = 0.72; 95% CI = 0.54-0.96; p = 0.024) in an allelic model was associated with reduced CAD risk, as were the rs2048327 "C/C" (OR = 0.60; 95% CI: 0.37-0.97; p = 0.036) and rs1810126 "T/T" (OR = 0.58; 95% CI: 0.36-0.93; p = 0.024) genotypes. Likewise, the rs9349379 "A/G" genotype in a dominant model (p = 0.041), the rs1810126 "T/C" genotype in additive (p = 0.041) and recessive (p = 0.012) models, and the rs2048327 "C/T" genotype in a recessive model were associated with decreased CAD risk (p = 0.016). These results suggest several PHACTR1 and SLC22A3 polymorphisms are associated with decreased CAD risk in the male Chinese Han population.
