The article comments on the growth of the Chinese city of Chongqing. According to the author, the city has a population of 32 million people, spread over 40 districts and counties, covering 82,400 square kilometer of western China. She adds that the city will spend RMB2,000 billion by 2012 on urban development and improving its manufacturing industry. She also mentions that the ratio of urban to rural is predicted to increase to 70:30 by 2020.
