This research aims to design a quality management tool in education. The methodology comprises two stages: first, the construction of the decision tree model, and second, the efficiency evaluation. For the validation and development of this research, the data modelled corresponds to the standardized exams for higher education in Colombia of ninety industrial engineering degrees. Among the results, the citizenship skills (CC_PRO) generate the most significant contribution to the model. On the other hand, the written communication competence (CE_PRO) generates a minor contribution to the model. In addition, the most relevant result of the research is the design and validation of a tool to estimate educational efficiency using the efficiency analysis tree (EAT) and data enveloping analysis (DEA) models. The proposed tool allows the generation of specific targets to increase the level of efficiency of universities through the nodes of the decision tree, which contributes to the spectrum of knowledge on models for educational management. In conclusion, this research presents a tool for the management of educational processes through the analysis of efficiency using EAT, estimating the efficiency of universities and setting the foundations for forecasting future efficiency scenarios. This paper is inspired by the conviction that education required by the new society goes beyond the cognitive paradigm and requires progressing towards a more comprehensive education in which emotional education is an imperative. As a result of research, and based on a comprehensive interest of teacher training in Colombia and under the methodological logic of the hermeneutic circle, this article contributes to open spaces for reflection on teacher in training colleges. The research allowed to understand critical aspects of the process of developing emotional competencies; based on a multiple case study in 75 teacher training colleges, complemented with the approach of one of them assumed as an instrumental case. This research shows the process to design a qualitative indicator system to assess the quality of Curricular Management in schools that are members of the Jesuit School Association of Colombia (ACODESI - Spanish acronyms), certified under ISO 9000:2000. The qualitative curriculum management was evaluated from a qualitative perspective, based on five parameters that are paramount in assessing curricular management (relevance, impact, transcendence, systematization, and degree of satisfaction,) and seven curricular components (principles, criteria, study plan, programs and projects, methodologies, management and guidance). The following stages were followed to design the indicator system: preparing the conceptual framework, collecting documentary information through surveys and interviews, analyzing information, constructing an indicator system, and approval by expert judges. The study concludes that applying this new system offers a way to assess the quality of the education offered at the member schools of the Association; however, the system also requires a comprehensive look as it is a qualitative instrument that opposes the general trend to quantify results in schools.
