The article "The Multiform Protestant Identity in Latin America in the 20th Century" analyzes the formation of different expressions of Protestantism in Latin America during the 20th century. It highlights the influence of theological movements promoted by the World Missionary Conferences in Edinburgh and Panama, the Pentecostal movement, and changes in American politics. The article also mentions the importance of the First Evangelical Convention of Colombia in 1926, where guidelines were established for the work of the Protestant Church in the country. Additionally, it discusses the influence of the evangelical movement in Latin America and its relationship with the anti-communist evangelical current in the United States. The importance of the magazine Pensamiento Cristiano in spreading evangelical ideas is emphasized, as well as interdenominational cooperation meetings and the mass evangelization program called "Evangelism in Depth." Global initiatives such as the World Congress on Evangelism and the Latin American Congress on Evangelism are also mentioned, as well as the creation of the Latin American Theological Fraternity and the Medellin 88 Consultation. The article discusses different religious movements in Latin America, such as Protestantism, Pentecostalism, charismatic renewal, and neo-Pentecostalism. It predicts that Pentecostal churches will be the main expression of popular religion in Latin America. The text also mentions the diversity of Latin American Protestantism and the influence of the Pentecostal movement in its exponential growth. [Extracted from the article]
