This article presents a paper which looks into the state of free speech within the American academic setting and suggests a plan for its revitalization. The university setting is traditionally been seen as open marketplace for free expression. An incident in 1966 at Wesleyan University in Connecticut is cited as symbolic of a shift in the direction of suppression on college campuses. Also presented is a proposed plan to preserve the university as an open forum for expression of all ideas.
