Abstract

The article focuses on the possible European Union (EU) president and a foreign-policy chief who will emerge from the possible approval of the Lisbon Treaty by Irish voters in October 2009. Treaty supporters believe that it will gain the support of majority of Irish voters due to strong turnout in parts of Dublin. Other EU countries that are yet to complete the ratification are Poland and the Czech Republic. The factors that will affect the candidacy of British Prime Minister Tony Blair are noted.
