Abstract

The article discusses the controversy surrounding the construction of a condominium tower located next to the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, Texas. The tower's glass cladding reflects hot sunlight down to the museum and its gardens. The glare from the tower makes it uncomfortable to be in the gardens and makes it difficult to view the sculptures as they have been placed. Comments by Renzo Piano, the museum's architect, are included.

DALLAS -- Two things were supposed to happen when the Nasher Sculpture Center opened here in 2003. Famous works like Rodin's ''Age of Bronze'' and Matisse's ''Madeleine I'' were to be bathed in copious sunlight streaming through a glass roof.
