Over the last 30 years, non-pharmacological treatment with ear acupuncture, including National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) acupuncture, has become popular in Western society to relieve cancer-related symptoms. This study aim is to explore whether NADA acupuncture plays a role in relieving suffering experienced by patients hospitalized in a specialized palliative care ward and their family caregivers and whether it contributes to their coping skills. A qualitative study with a hermeneutic approach utilizing inductive thematic content analysis. Purposeful sampling took place in a specialized palliative care ward in Denmark and all data were collected through semi-structured interviews with patients and family caregivers as either individual or family interviews. A total of 10 patients and 15 family caregivers participated in interviews. Four themes emerged: (1) communication about treatment with NADA acupuncture, (2) relief of suffering generates extra energy and inner strength, (3) sharing the experience with the family is beneficial, and (4) physical and psychological effects after receiving NADA acupuncture. Patients in palliative care and their family caregivers experienced relief of suffering after receiving NADA acupuncture, as well as improved well-being, and extra energy and inner strength to cope with their life situation. The ability to share NADA acupuncture gave family caregivers the feeling of being cared for and contributed to feelings of fellowship and togetherness within the family, strengthening their ability to communicate and cope. This article examines press ethics across different news beats. Traditionally, studies of news beats have focused on the development, output or routines of a particular news beat, but few studies have focused on press ethics. In Denmark, the debate on press ethics began in the 1930s and has often focused on the crime beat. Today, the "Advisory rules of sound press ethics" apply to all content produced by leading news media and are under the supervision of the Press Council. We analyse rulings from the Press Council from 1999 to 2019 to investigate if and how breaches of press ethics differ across news beats. We find that out of 3406 complaints, 764 have led to rulings that criticise specific news media for ethical violations. We code each violation according to news beat, finding that breaches most often concern the business beat, the crime beat, and the health and social beat. We also find that the types of ethical breaches differ across beats. Thus, the most common breach within the business beat is not following up on a ruling from the Press Council, whereas the most common breach in crime reporting is the unnecessary identification of persons mentioned in crime stories. The residential building stock holds a large energy efficiency improvement potential related to energy upgrading of the building envelope. Details about the heterogeneity of the building stock are paramount to perform a proper assessment of attractive energy efficiency improvements for end-users. Based on a sample of buildings, the study develops methods to identify potentials for heterogeneous building-tailored energy efficiency improvements, to reduce heat consumption, and evaluates their cost-effectiveness in the framework of a district heating area in Denmark. The study accounts for rebound effects and develops both technical (gross) and more realistic (net) potentials, allowing a more accurate analysis of attractive energy efficiency improvements. The analysis is novel as the underlying model relies on building characteristics rather than synthetic archetypes, which can lead to loss of diversity (e.g. in variation of costs and potentials) and thereby discarding cost-effective potentials. The analysis also investigates the sensitivity of the results to assumptions about the discount rate and focuses on the effect of exposing the end-user to different district heating tariffs and the consequent total cost-effective investments. The outcomes show that cost-effective energy efficiency improvements vary considerably, in size and type, among the heterogeneous building stock considered. In regard to district heating tariffs, when all the cost components are variable, the total cost-effective potential increases considerably, with specific energy efficiency improvements distributed differently among building categories, and with the cost components providing different incentives to invest. Heterogeneity, and different tariff policies, thus does matter, when evaluating economically attractive investments in energy efficiency improvements for buildings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

December of 2015 two major journalistic scandals hit the Danish news media. The two scandals ran almost concurrently, which increased the media attention and was reflected in the coverage. In a time of diminishing trust in the news media these scandals represented a significant and acute credibility problem for the news media that were affected. Using paradigm repair theory coupled with a theory about transparency, this paper analyses which strategies the affected news media employed to re-instore trust in their journalism, and thus in the traditional news paradigm. Like previous studies, we find that the news media tried to distance themselves from the journalists involved in the scandals and describe them as "bad apples." In both scandals the news media also went to great lengths to investigate the accusations and publically document the transgressions of the reporters. This effort could be seen as an attempt to increase transparency about the scandals, but the reports focused only on the journalists in focus, and not on the news organization, where they worked. As a consequence, the affected editors and news organizations largely avoided any blame and speculation as to their role in the scandals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The research aims to develop control strategies for intelligent glazed façades and investigate the influence of different control strategies on energy and comfort performance in office buildings. The intelligent glazed façade is capable of controlling the thermal, solar and mass transmittance by controlling shutters, blinds and openings. The façade and building services are designed and controlled holistically to optimize the indoor comfort (thermal, visual comfort and indoor air quality) and minimize the energy demand by heating, cooling, lighting and ventilation. The study is conducted numerically utilising a simplified hourly calculation method developed to calculate yearly energy and comfort performance of an office room equipped with an intelligent façade. The simplified method is verified by the Danish dynamic building simulation tool BSim and experimental test in a full scale test facility at Aalborg University (Cube). Results show that the annual primary energy demand of an office building with intelligent glazed façade can be reduced by approx. 60% compared with the same building with a static façade. Utilising the properties of an intelligent glazed façade, buildings can more easily comply with the future Danish Building Class 2020 as stipulated in the Danish Building Regulation 2010, BR10. The article cites a study on the prevalence rate of generalized anxiety disorder among patients of general practitioners in Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. Results of the study indicated that the age-standardized rates for general anxiety disorder ranged from 4.1-6.0% for males and 3.7-7.1% for females. The study concluded that of the overall percentage cases of generalized disorder in general practice, only one-third to one-half of the cases were recognized by general practitioners.
