Abstract

The article discusses research on the stereological quantification of immune-competent cells in biopsy specimens from nonruptured chronic Achilles tendinopathy and healthy control tendons. Results show that macrophages, T lymphocytes, mast cells, and natural killer cells were observed in the majority of biopsy specimens from tendinopathic Achilles tendons. It concluded the presence of immune-competent cells in the majority of biopsy specimens in patients with Achilles tendinopathy.
