The article presents a study on statutory laws concerning inheritance and home ownership among widows in Uganda. It argues that widows are deprived of home ownership upon the death of their husbands according to patriarchal customary practices and institutional legal framework without regards to constitutional gender sensitivity. The study concludes that Ugandan inheritance practices are partilineal, thus, a widow cannot inherit the matrimonial home in both customary and statutory law.
