In this article, the author discusses the new approach of Wellcome Trust, the major funder of medical and life sciences, to apply investigator award scheme in London, England. He is critical on the speech of Nobel prize winner Sir Paul Nurse that only excellent need to apply on the scheme that generously offer long-term support to the brightest researchers. Also investigated is the potential problem of the approach that would affect the heterogenous ecosystem supporting scientific research.
