The article offers information on a survey conducted by the Oxford Bird Census from 1927 to 1928 on the rook, Corvus frugilegus frugilegus, in the Oxford district in England, and presents an analysis of the irregularity in the distribution of various species. It presents a list of rookeries, and states that the total number of rooks' nests recorded by the census was 6733. It mentions that the rookeries form groups or straggling lines, and a great number of nests are in the hedgerow elms. It states that the way in which the rookeries follow the river valleys suggests that the water-meadows are the main attraction in the breeding season. It offers information on the behaviour and distribution pattern of various species of rook such as jackdaw, carrion crow and lapwing.
