The articles offer findings from diverse areas in Europe enabling us to understand the different national contexts as well as the realities of farming under the European Union's Common Agricultural Policy. In this issue, Paula Escribano and Agata Hummel have curated a special cluster of articles that highlight how public policies in Europe affect farmer livelihood, everyday survival strategies, and farmer identity. These findings about Europe mirror those about similar groups in the United States (Korsunsky 2020) and India (Sen 2017) who are affected by deep forces of neo-liberalized agriculture.
