The article reports on a study regarding an outbreak of cercarial dermatitis (CD) in a lake in Fife, Scotland during the summer of 2006. Reportedly, CD is an acute skin condition that affects people undertaking open-water activity. The study prompted the local authority to treat the lake with copper sulphate to destroy the snail host. It concludes that the condition has been widely recorded in Great Britain although the report may be the first documented outbreak in Scotland.
