The article presents a study which identifies the characteristics and risk factors related to serious injuries in Finland. It examines the insurance records of 93,550 independent Finnish farmers and ranked injury cases by claim cost. It notes the utilization of multiple logistic regressions in identifying risk determinants for any injury and serious injury. It also mentions that a total of 5,507 agricultural injuries occurred in the country in 2002. Moreover, it also focuses on the risk factors that should be addressed by the cost-effective prevention efforts including older age, male gender, and motor vehicles.
