Richard H. Holm, known to colleagues and friends as Dick Holm, was one of the most influential chemists of his generation. His work has greatly influenced the development of inorganic chemistry in general and synthetic bioinorganic chemistry in particular. Dick was both a devoted scientist and a complete family man. Dick met the love of his life, Florence (née Jacintho), at the University of Massachusetts and married in June 1958 while he was a graduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). They spent 62 happy years together, with Dick often remarking that he owed all his life's achievements to the love and support of his wife. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
