The article focuses on the findings of a study concerning the use of acoustic tagging in determining adult spiny lobster or Panulirus argus movement patterns in the Western Sambo Ecological Reserve in Florida. Researchers used acoustic telemetry in studying the movements of spiny lobster during the spring and summer of 2003 and 2004 in Hawk Channel. They found that lobsters showed greatest movement after sunset and before sunrise with less movement between midnight and 2:00 a.m. Moreover, the study noted that female lobsters exhibit movement patterns consistent with reproductive migrations to the forereef.
