Abstract

This essay summarizes lessons learned from the study of the structured decision-making tool of the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (FDJJ) called Dispositional Matrix. Topics discussed include the major components of the Dispositional Matrix that guide juvenile probation officers in their court recommendations. Also discussed are the major policy implications of the findings of the study for the FDJJ.
