The article profiles the Sofa Nyama Band in the Gambia. Sofa Nyama's members include guitarist and singer Sankung Jobarteh, who has mastered jazz, funk and rock while living for decades in Europe; kora player Jali Bakary Konte; balafon player Saihou Kanuteh; and, drummer Ismaela Manrong. The author reflects if the band deserve to have an international audience.
