ANKA is a relatively new synchrotron radiation facility at the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, a large government research center in the southwest of Germany. The acronym stands for Angstrom Source Karlsruhe. The electron storage ring is 110.4 m in circumference and stores a 2.5 GeV electron beam at a typical current of 200 mA. Information about several issues discussed at the 3rd International Workshop on Infrared Microscopy and Spectroscopy with Accelerator Based Sources (WIRMS) in Rathen, Germany on June 26-30, 2005 is presented. The WIRMS has been conducted to promote scientific exchange among infrared-beamline synchrotron and free-electron laser scientists and users of the synchrotron facilities. It has also been aimed at advancing the study on synchrotron radiation.
