The article reports that Lurgi GmbH has signed a contract with CNOOC Energy Technology & Services Limited, a subsidiary of China National Offshore Oil Corporat ion, to build a plant for the production of acrylic acid from propylene. It is reported that the single-train plant, with a capacity of 140 thousand t /a acrylic acid, will be build up in Huizhou, Guangdong province, China.

The article presents information on a project for the production of acrylic copolymers from supercritical carbon dioxide. The project was sponsored by the Science and Technology Department of Guangdong Sheng, China, and has passed the acceptance appraisal. An overview is presented of the copolymerization reactions between acrylic acid and fluorine-containing monomers.
