Abstract

Two new species of the genus Trimeroptes Keifer (Acari: Diptilomiopidae; Diptilomiopinae) from Guangdong Province, South China are described and illustrated: Trimeroptes malabathricumsp. nov. infesting Melastoma malabathricum L. (Melastomataceae), T. tristylaesp. nov. infesting Saurauia tristyla DC. (Actinidiaceae). Both new species described herein are vagrants on their host plant and induce the leaves to turn yellow. Abstract

Two new species of the tribe Calacarini Amrine & Stasny (Acariformes: Eriophyidae: Phyllocoptinae) from Guangdong Province, South China are described and illustrated: Calacarus liquidambarussp. nov. infesting Liquidambar formosana Hance (Altingiaceae), and Liroella excoecariussp. nov. infesting Excoecaria cochinchinensis Lour (Euphorbiaceae). All mites are vagrants causing no apparent damage to their host plants. Two new combinations are given: Calacarus caricaecomb. nov. (synonymy: Phetehaburus caricae) infesting Carica papaya L. (Caricaceae), and Calacarus solanicomb. nov. (synonymy: Phetehaburus solani) infesting Solanum seaforthianum Andrews (Solanaceae). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
