Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangdong, China, has found that supplementing a matrix-free culture system with neurotrophic factor 4 (NT4) can enhance the growth and maturity potential of human secondary follicles, resulting in fertilizable oocytes. The study used fresh ovarian medulla tissue obtained during ovarian tissue cryopreservation from patients aged 6 to 21 years old. The addition of NT4 significantly increased follicular diameter, steroid hormone production, and the efficiency of oocyte maturation.
