Abstract

The article features Honolulu Academy of Arts founder Anna Rice Cooke who showcased around 16,000 works of Asian art collection during its public opening in 1927. It notes that Honolulu is an international port that accommodates settlers from different parts of the world, wherein children of the settlers became the first appreciators of Cooke when she started her collection in 1890. Her husband, Charles Montague Cooke, financed her collection and establishment of the museum.
