An epidemiological and biological rhythm study was conducted in bovines naturally infected with Trypanosoma evansi in Braj Bhoomi region of Uttar Pradesh, India. A total of 2312 blood samples of bovines (cattle-797 and buffaloes-1515) suspected for trypanosomosis were collected and screen for T. evansi infection using buffy coat method and blood smear examination. Overall prevalence of 18.94% (438) was recorded indicating endemicity of trypanosoma in bovine population of this region. Trypanosomosis was found prevalent throughout the year in this region and higher prevalence was observed in monsoon and post-monsoon months followed by winter months and least in summer months. Prevalence of trypanosomosis in bovines does not vary with the host related factors viz. sex, breed, and pregnancy in this region. However, there is significant increase in prevalence with increase in age and parity. Alteration in twenty-seven (27) different types of reported clinical markers in this study can be considered as snap short diagnostic markers of trypanosomosis in field conditions where diagnostic facilities are lacking.
