The article focuses on iron deficiency anemia, considered one of the most prevalent micronutrient deficiencies in young children in India and other parts of world. It cites various studies which show that iron deficiency is a risk factor for some diseases, such as febrile seizures, restless leg syndrome (RLS), and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Iron deficiency has also been associated with lower mental and psychomotor scores that persist up to 19 years of age.
