Background: Cassia auriculata L., is an imperative medicinal and traditional neutral colour leaf hair dye yielding in India. This is a multipurpose and indigenous, perennial leguminous shrub and widely used as traditional medicine to cure diabetics by the rural peoples. Tanner's cassia is also used as neutral henna and its yields natural golden blonde colouring to hair through the dried leaf powder. Young buds are used for yellow colour dye extraction by textile industries. Screening of high tolerance and best performing genotypes is highly essential in this imperative woody legume shrub to rehabilitate the mass erosion prone gullied and ravine lands for productive purpose of the wasteland and degraded lands. Methods: Thirty different accessions of Cassia auriculata were assembled and numbered from CA-1 to CA-30 from arid and semiarid regions of Rajasthan (India). The experimental trial was conducted at ICAR-IISWC, Research Centre, Kota-Rajasthan, India during 2019-2022. After evaluation, CA-4 genotype was selected as an elite genotype. The elite genotype was used for high density plantation development with resource conservation for green cover development in non-arable ravine lands. Result: Genetic variation studies of Cassia auriculata indicated that considerable and significant variability, abundant morphometric variations in assembled genotype progenies. Further, genetic divergence analysis was also revealed that nine clusters segregated from 30 genotypes. Thirty genotypes were grouped into nine clusters according overall performance with geographical identity. Finally, C. auriculata (CA-4) genotype was identified and selected as an elite genotype based on its overall superiority in terms of plant growth, higher green biomass, leaf litter biomass, more number branching behaviour and plant coppicing ability which are directly relevant and imperative in soil erosion control, resource conservation and potential rehabilitation effect in resource poor dry regions of non-arable lands. Background: Non-edible oil as biodiesel helps to meet the energy demand and to reduce environmental degradation. Jatropha curcas is one of the potential oil yielding plant which can be grown under agroforestry systems without affecting food production. Hence the current study aimed to find out compatible intercrop under J. curcas and optimum spacing of J. curcas for intercropping. Methods: A study was carried out in three and a half-year old J. curcas plantation. Different spacings of J. curcas viz., 3m x 3m, 4m x 2m and 4m x 3m and different legumes viz., blackgram, greengram, cowpea, groundnut and oilseed crops viz., gingelly and sunflower were evaluated in split plot design. Result: Growth and yield of intercrops, available soil N, P and uptake of N, P, K by intercrops were significantly higher at wider spacing of J. curcas (4m x 3m). Among the intercrops, groundnut recorded higher uptake of N (67.3 kg ha-1), P (19.9 kg ha-1) and K (65.3 kg ha-1). Groundnut produced a significantly higher yield (885 kg ha-1) followed by cowpea (630 kg ha-1). The study found that planting of J. curcas at 4m x 3m spacing and intercropping with groundnut is a compatible and profitable J. curcas based agroforestry system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are classical models for computer vision and machine learning applications such as video surveillance, pattern recognition, weather forecasting, traffic, and safety. CNNs involve computationally intensive operations and require huge off-chip memory bandwidth, which makes it a challenging task to deploy on real-time embedded systems. Compared to central processing units and graphic processing units, field programmable gate arrays (FPGA)-based CNNs are gaining popularity owing to their flexibility and efficiency. In this work, we present an efficient CNN accelerator based on blocked Winograd-GEMM architecture with high performance. We implement ResNet-18 CNN model on XC7VX690T FPGA using proposed architecture. This implementation operates at a clock frequency of 200 MHz and gives average throughput of 383 GOPS which is comparable to other state-of-art implementations. Identification of crop and its accuracy is an important aspect in predicting crop production using Remote Sensing technology. This study investigates the ability of Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm in discriminating fodder crops and estimating its area using moderate resolution multi-temporal Landsat-8 OLI data. SVM is a non-parametric statistical learning method and its accuracy is dependent on the parameters and the kernels used. The objective was to evaluate the feasibility of SVM in fodder classification and compare the results with traditional parametric Maximum Likelihood Classification (MLC). Fodder crops are available over small fields in the study area thus having large number of pure fodder pixels over small area is difficult. Hence, SVM has an advantage over MLC as it works well with less training data sets also. Three kernels (linear, polynomial and radial based function) were used with SVM classification. Comparative analysis showed that higher overall accuracy was observed in SVM in comparison to MLC. Temporal change in the spectral properties of the crops derived through Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) from multi-temporal Landsat-8 was found to be the most important information that affects accuracy of classification. The classification accuracies for SVM with radial based function, polynomial, linear kernel and MLC were 90.09%, 89.9%, 88.9% and 82.4% respectively. The result suggested that SVM including three kernels performed significantly better than MLC. There are various roles played by the members in a family but research on family decision making has been largely confined to spouses, who have been considered as the relevant decision making unit in a family. However, the role of third party influences, such as children, on decision making strategies and negotiations is essential to taking a broader view of the relevant unit of analysis. Traditionally, women were seen to be the purchasing agents for the family. Now a days, In India increasing participation of women in the workforce has prompted a shift in this role as children are increasingly the "buyers" for the entire family. Even in families where women do not work, children are observed to share this role with their mothers. Children enjoy greater discretion not only in making routine consumption decisions for the family but also in pestering their parents to buy other products desired by them .It is also observed that children are socialized by their parents to act as rational consumers. After years of direct or indirect observation of parental behaviour in the marketplace, they gradually acquire relevant consumer skills from their parents. The structure of Indian families has been previously characterized as joint families with traditional SRO (that is, the husband predominated in all family affairs). However, owing to influences from the West, the structure of Indian families has changed to nuclear or extended families (nuclear families plus grandparents). The Indian families have become more modern in SRO, such that the decision making has become more egalitarian (Chadha, 1995; Dhobal, 1999). Compared to this, the West is experiencing an increase in the number of single parent or female-headed households (Ahuja and Stinson, 1993; Mangleburg et al., 1999). Soil salinity is a major environment stress impairing crop production and accelerating soil degradation. Use of soil amendments are practical solutions for altering soil quality to enhance crop productivity in these soils. Hence, we systematically evaluated the impact of soil amendments practices on crop productivity, nutrient use efficiency, soil properties, soil quality index, economics and energetics on soybean-mustard cropping system in sodic Vertisol. In this study, eight treatments comprising of various combinations of soil amendments such as gypsum (@2.5 t ha−1), farmyard manure (FYM@10 t ha−1), crop residue (CR@1.5 t ha−1 of soybean residue during rabi and 3 t ha−1 of mustard residue during kharif season) with recommended fertilizer doses (RNPK) was evaluated in randomized block design with three replications for four consecutive years in soybean-mustard cropping sequences (2016–2019). Results demonstrated that application of gypsum with CR and FYM recorded a significant drop in exchangeable sodium percentage (ESP) (45–48 %), and bulk density (BD) (3–6 %) than that of control. Organic amendment in conjunction with gypsum and chemical fertilizer significantly improved soil chemical, physical and biological properties than that under control and inorganic fertilizer alone treatments. Based on principal component analysis and correlation matrix, minimum data set identified ESP, pH, BD, organic carbon, available nutrients, biomass carbon, calcium content, dehydrogenase as the most important properties controlling soil quality. Integration of RNPK+Gypsum+CR and RNPK+Gypsum+FYM are found superior leading to higher crop yield in soybean (1.23 and 1.21 Mg ha−1 respectively), mustard (1.43 and 1.39 Mg ha−1 respectively), better nutrient recovery efficiency (77 and 53 % respectively), improved soil quality index (0.90 and 0.93 respectively), and higher economic return (benefit: cost ratio-2.88 and 2.1 respectively).Therefore, this study findings highlighted the conjunctive use of gypsum with organic amendments is effective in reclaiming salt stress, improving soil health and crop productivity under oilseed cropping sequence in degraded soils of semi-arid tropics. • Soil management practices for oilseed cropping system was assessed comprehensively. • Soil amendments improved soil physical, chemical and biological properties. • Improved crop nutrient use efficiency with soil amendments in sodic soils. • Soil amendments impact on soil quality index and crop yield. Myoepithelial carcinoma (malignant myoepithelioma) of the breast is a rare entity and in the male breast it is even rarer. Two cases of benign myoepithelioma in the male breast have been reported so far. Here we report, probably the first case of Myoepithelial carcinoma in a male breast with clinical features mimicking locally advanced breast carcinoma, together with illustration of pathological finding, microscopic appearance and management. Background: The gingiva is a common site for neoplastic or non-neoplastic lesions. Neoplasms refer to progressive autonomous growth that can have either a benign or a malignant course. On the other hand, non-neoplastic lesions are mainly inflammatory, or occur as a reaction to some kind of irritation or lowgrade injury., Objectives: Assessing the frequency distribution of gingival lesions is important to optimize oral health care services. The present study retrospectively analyzed the frequency distribution of gingival lesions on the basis of the 2017 World Workshop on the Classification of Periodontal and Peri-Implant Diseases and Conditions. The secondary objective was to compare this system with the 1999 International Workshop classification system., Material and Methods: The hematoxylin and eosin (H&E)-stained histopathological slides of the gingival lesions reported over the last 3 years (2018-2020) were retrieved from the archive of the Division of Oral Pathology and Microbiology at a tertiary care hospital in New Delhi, India. Correlating clinical, radiological and pathological details enabled the categorization of lesions according to the new classification system., Results: In total, 73 gingival lesions were analyzed. Among these, reactive processes were the most frequent (39.73%), followed by inflammatory and immune conditions and lesions (26.03%), malignant tumors (21.92%), benign epithelial lesions (5.48%), and oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) (5.48%). Genetic/developmental disorders were the least frequent (1.37%). However, as per the 1999 American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) system, the majority of lesions belonged to a non-specified category., Conclusions: The frequency distribution of biopsied gingival lesions according to the 2017 World Workshop classification in comparison with the previous classification system showed that differences between the 2 systems could be attributed to heterogeneous terminology rather than to real geographical variations.

Introduction: Difficult laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is the most common "difficult" surgical procedure performed today, which possesses the potential to place the patient at significant operative risk. We present our retrospective study and experience of 8347 patients with LC since June 1995 to December 2011 at 2 large centers: Mariampur and GSVM Medical College, LLR Hospital, Kanpur, with discussions regarding the practical aspects of LC in difficult situations with respect to conversion to open cholecystectomy., Methods: A retrospective analysis of patients who underwent LC from June 1995 to December 2011 was performed. The analysis was performed in relation to the need for conversion and the factors responsible for conversion., Results: Out of 8347 cases, 2187 cases (26.2%) were identified as difficult. LC was performed successfully in 8265 cases (total completion rate, 99.02%). Of the 2187 difficult cases, LC was completed successfully in 2105 cases (completion rate in difficult cases, 96.25%) and converted to open cholecystectomy in 82 cases (conversion rate in difficult cases, 3.75%)., Conclusions: Because of the increasing exposure and expertise of surgeons dealing with complex gall bladder laparoscopies, rates of conversion to open cholecystectomy are decreasing and many difficult cases are now handled laparoscopically. However, if required, conversion should not be considered as a failure for the benefit of the patient.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to observe the effect of Yoga Nidra practice on hormone levels in patients who had menstrual irregularities., Design: The study was a randomized controlled trial., Settings/location: The study was conducted in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj Medical University, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, India. SUBJECTS were divided randomly into 2 groups-an intervention and a control group, with 75 subjects in each group. Of these subjects, 126 completed the study protocol., Subjects: This study involved 150 subjects with menstrual irregularities; 126 of whom completed the protocol., Interventions: The intervention was the practice of Yoga Nidra. The yogic intervention duration was 35-40 minutes/day, five times/week for 6 months. An estimation of hormonal profile was done for both groups at baseline and after 6 months., Results: Thyroid-stimulating hormone (p<0.002), follicle-stimulating hormone (p<0.02), luteinizing hormone (p<0.001), and prolactin (p<0.02) were decreased significantly in the intervention group, compared with the control group., Conclusions: The present study demonstrated the efficacy of Yoga Nidra on hormone profiles in patients with menstrual irregularities. Yoga Nidra practice was helpful in patients with hormone imbalances, such as dysmenorrhea, oligomenorrhea, menorrhagia, metrorrhagia, and hypomenorrhea.

The present study evaluated the effects of glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF), fibroblast growth factor (FGF) 2 and epidermal growth factor (EGF) on proliferation and the expression of some genes in spermatogonial cells. Spermatogonial cells were isolated from prepubertal buffalo testes and enriched by double enzyme treatment, filtration through 80- and 60-μm nylon mesh filters, differential plating on lectin-coated dishes and Percoll density gradient centrifugation. Cells were then cultured on a buffalo Sertoli cell feeder layer and formed colonies within 15-18 days. The colonies were found to predominantly contain undifferentiated Type A spermatogonia because they bound Dolichos biflorus agglutinin and did not express c-kit. The colonies expressed alkaline phosphatase, NANOG, octamer-binding transcription factor (OCT)-4 and tumour rejection antigen (TRA)-1-60. Cells were subcultured for 15 days, with or without growth factor supplementation. After 15 days, colony area and the relative mRNA abundance of PLZF were higher (P<0.05) following supplementation with 40 ng mL⁻¹ GDNF + 10 ng mL⁻¹ EGF + 10 ng mL⁻¹ FGF2 than with the same concentrations of GDNF alone or GDNF plus either EGF or FGF2. Expression of TAF4B was higher (P<0.05) in the presence of FGF2, whereas the expression of THY1 was not affected by growth factor supplementation. In the Sertoli cell feeder layer, EGF and FGF2 decreased (P<0.05), whereas GDNF increased (P<0.05), the relative mRNA abundance of ETV5 compared with control. In conclusion, an in vitro culture system that incorporates various growth factors was developed for the short-term culture of buffalo spermatogonia.

In a double blind design the tolerability and efficacy of single-dose DEC (6 mg/kg/body weight) or ivermectin (400 microg/kg/body weight) was studied in 30 asymptomatic W. bancrofti parasite carriers each. Although both drugs were tolerated well, the adverse reaction score (DEC 0.5; ivermectin 1.5) and overall incidence (DEC 65.0%; ivermectin 93.3%) were significantly higher in the ivermectin group. Major adverse reactions were fever, headache and myalgia, all of which peaked on the second day post-therapy. Efficacy was measured in terms of proportion of cases clearing parasitaemia and reduction in mean parasite density compared to pre-therapy levels. Although at the end of one year the ivermectin group showed a significantly higher efficacy (34.8%, 97.0%) compared to DEC (8.3%, 83.8%), at the end of the second year there was no significant difference in efficacy between the drugs (73.7%, 99.5% for ivermectin; 47.8%, 98.9% for DEC). The tolerability and efficacy of the two drugs were not significantly different between gender, age and weight classes of patients.
