Abstract

The article presents a study which develops a real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction assay and investigates whether the method can quantify viral load in HIV-infected subjects in Calcutta, India. The study discovers that plasma viral load can be quantified by real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction assay. It concludes that the method is important for planning of treatment for HIV-1 infection.
