For residents or fellows outside anesthesiology and critical care training programs, formal training in managing critically sick patients does not exist in India either at the undergraduate level, or at postgraduate level. Acute critical care course (ACCC) is a simulation-based skills development course that has been developed indigenously to address this lacuna in training of interns and residents in surgical specialties and emergency medicine in India. This study is aimed to find out and to assess the effectiveness of this course. This is a prospective interventional study using low-fidelity simulation-based courses. As many as 1036 candidates (interns and residents) were trained in 40 ACCC provider courses, and 165 instructor candidates in 9 instructor courses in 16 teaching hospitals in India in 2014–2021. However, in this report, the authors have analyzed the feedback (verbal and written) from 487 candidates of 19 ACCC provider courses conducted in 14 teaching hospitals in India between 2014 and 2018. Analysis of data was performed by thematic analysis for qualitative data and descriptive analysis for quantitative data. All the 487 candidates in 19 courses over 5 years replied either as very good (above expectations) or as good (as per expectations). In response to the question of the effectiveness of a lecture or skill station, none of them chose the options fair (below expectations) or poor (unacceptable). Fifteen out of 18 interns replied their emails that were sent 3 weeks after ACCC to find out if there was an improvement in their clinical application on a scale of 1–10. The response to the question in regards to improvement in their own ability 'to assess a sick patient', 'in treating a sick patient', 'communication skills with a colleague', and 'confidence in breaking bad news to patient or relatives', respectively, was 7.5, 7.8, 8.3 and 8.3. Mean scores out of 5 in response to content of ACCC course for clarity, utility, adequacy of content, understandable and interaction during course were 4.59, 4.81, 4,78, 4.86 and 4.97 respectively. Qualitative analysis led to 5 themes described in the manuscript. Low fidelity simulation using role-play appeals to the adult learners, breaks the monotony of classroom teaching, encourages interactive learning, and facilitates active participation in skill development necessary for critical care training of residents in surgical specialties and in emergency medicine. Sharing the vision document of ACCC with the deans of medical colleges is the crucial step in implementing applied physiology in step-wise logical approach in managing a sick patient. Teaching English in India successfully is still a burning issue. After learning English for more than ten years or so, the under graduating populace cannot communicate in English either in the classroom or in real-life contexts. Therefore, students' proficiency in English has been the constant thought of teachers, teacher trainers, ELT experts, and linguists over all these years. We, as teachers, are always conscious of how we can make our students learn English, how they would become fluent in English. We do some experiments with pedagogical devices in the classroom. This paper is an attempt to find out how do role plays help in developing speaking skills. Background: In schools, bullying is a regular occurring behavior problem and the most common form of violence. As stated in studies, bullying peaks during middle school years and higher rates of being bullied are reported in children with special educational needs and disabilities. Social story, as a teaching intervention, helps in preparing the children to respond appropriately to a bullying situation and to develop adaptive coping responses. Objectives: The objective of this study is to identify the victims of bullying among childhood psychiatry conditions, to develop coping skills for them, and to determine the effectiveness of social stories. Study Design: A randomized controlled interventional study was chosen for the research. Methods: Children were screened using Illinois Bully Victim Scale, and 22 children, of both genders, aged 8-13 years diagnosed with attention-deficit hyperactive disorder, learning disability, and mild intellectual disability were randomly assigned to two study groups. Coping strategies were taught to the children in the experimental group with the help of social stories, for two target behaviors, and role play at end for 30 min, 3 days a week, for 13 sessions, whereas in the control group, children underwent conventional occupational therapy along with coping strategies and role play for 30 min for 13 sessions. The Canadian Occupational Performance Measure and the Coping with Bullying Scale for Children were administered before and after intervention. Results: Both experimental (w = 12) and control (h = 10) groups equally improved with their respective intervention. However, children achieved clinically significant scores in their mean values (68.42 ± 61.50, P < 0.02, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.00-0.12) in the level of performance, suggesting that they used more of adaptive responses in coping with bullying situation. Typically, children in both the groups showed some amount of maladaptive strategies even after their respective interventions (8.03 ± 6.2, P = 0.20, 95% CI: 0.00-0.13), referring that social story was found to have an impact only on adaptive coping responses. This warrants the importance of addressing the awareness of adverse consequences of maladaptive coping through social stories. Conclusion: Social stories were effective in improving coping skills as well as in enabling the strategies application of learned coping skills (performance) during bullying situation. Background: Knowledge about epilepsy and its management is not satisfactory among school students in developing countries. The present study was planned to ascertain the knowledge, attitude and practices (KAP) of students regarding first-aid management of epilepsy seizures in school setting. Materials and Methods: A total of 177 students of government schools of Chandigarh, a city of northern India, were taken. They were administered with a pre-tested semi-structured questionnaire (for knowledge and attitude assessment) and an observational checklist after role play (for practice assessment) on first-aid management of epilepsy. A scoring system was devised to quantify the knowledge and practices of students. Results: Seventy?one percent of them had either heard or read about epilepsy. Half of the students believed epilepsy as a hindrance to education. Ayurvedic treatment was preferred by more than half of the students; however, many believed that visit to religious places and exorcism as ways to cure epilepsy. Nearly 74% of students would call a doctor as first-aid measure for seizure in a person with epilepsy. Conclusion: We concluded that the knowledge about various aspects of epilepsy was average among school students in Chandigarh. However, there was no significant difference in knowledge, attitude and practice between students who lived in urban, urban slum and rural areas. In India, particularly in the state of Andhra Pradesh, the participation of students in English language classrooms is minimal. There are numerous reasons for this, like low confidence levels, improper exposure and practice of language skills and so on. To add to this situation, majority of the English language classrooms in India is teacher-centered and it affects the students' participation and thus their role and spirit are undermined. Under these circumstances, Collaborative Action Research (CAR) methodology is employed by the researchers with the objective to overcome the existing problems using role play as a tool. Role play is used effectively as a tool as it supports students' participation and enriches their social skills. CAR promotes collaborative discussions, self-reflective thinking and systematic phases of problem-solving. This paper makes an attempt to enhance students' participation and their ability to use English language in a variety of academic and professional situations besides integrating LSRW skills.
