This study aimed at exploring the effect of implementing writing metacognitive strategies via flipped classrooms on the Iranian EFL learners' achievement, anxiety, and self-efficacy in writing. The study involved 45 intermediate learners of both genders, selected using a random convenience sampling method. The participants' English proficiency was measured by the Preliminary English Test, and they were placed in two groups: experimental group (23 learners) and control group (22 learners). In the former group, the students were exposed to 5 distinct types of metacognitive strategies over the course of 10 flipped classroom sessions, while the latter group received writing metacognitive strategy-based instruction in a traditional classroom setting. The data collection process involved administering the Second Language Writing Self-Efficacy Scale, two intermediate writing tasks, and the Second Language Writing Anxiety Scale. The collected data were analyzed using a one-way ANCOVA. The findings evidenced considerable enhancement in the writing performance of the students who underwent instruction through flipped classrooms in comparison to those in the traditional classroom refsetting. Furthermore, the results demonstrated that the utilization of writing metacognitive strategies in flipped classrooms resulted in a substantial rise in students' writing self-efficacy, while simultaneously leading to a decrease in their writing anxiety.

The study examined the efficacy of an intervention designed to promote self concept, representation of self and autobiographical memory among preschoolers during shared reading within a sample of 22 families from the low-SES background. The intervention is based on PRO approach and Bruner (1986) model to consider both aspects of stories content and parent's manner of reading. Mothers in the intervention group were given four books, one new book weekly, and were instructed to read each book four times per week to their children using the four-reading model. Parents in the control group were given no further guidance. The results indicated that shared story reading significantly increased the positive representations and specification of autobiographical memory in the intervention group. The findings suggested that using shared story reading could be effective in improving the representation of self and specification of autobiographical memory in preschoolers.

Objectives: The significant health differences between sexes in Iran in terms of burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) point to the urgency of developing policies. We aim to explore sex disparities in NCDs. Methods: We used Global Burden of Disease 2019 study to compare estimates of incidence, prevalence, disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), years lived with disabilities (YLDs), years of life lost (YLLs), and deaths among sexes for NCDs, and their main subgroups; neoplasms, cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs), diabetes mellitus (DM) during 1990–2019. Results: In 2019, there were 62,476,274 (59517167.5, 65759931) incident NCDs in men and 78758640.6 (75222093.7, 82272935.8) in women. There were 7734064.3 (6744951.2, 8846192) DALYs in men and 7760484.2 (6496609, 9218299.9) in women. Fatal estimates (deaths and YLLs) of NCDs were higher for men, while non-fatal estimates (prevalence, YLDs) were higher for women. Men were superior in all burden indices of NCDs subgroups, except for all indices of DM and YLDs in CVDs. Compared to 1990–2010, the period 2010–2019 confirmed a marked stagnation in decline rates of burden indices, as well as an increase in incidence and prevalence which was more pronounced among men. Despite shrinking sex gaps in NCDs subgroups since 1990, sex gap in DM is widening in 2019. Conclusions: There is a notable sex disparity in NCDs prevalence in Iran, which has become increasingly evident in DM burden. Background: Enhancing efficiency is crucial in addressing the escalating scarcity of healthcare resources. It plays a pivotal role in achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC), with the ultimate goal of ensuring health equity for all. A fundamental strategy to bolster efficiency involves pinpointing the underlying causes of inefficiency within the healthcare system through empirical research. This study aimed to determine and prioritize the causes of inefficiency in Iran's health system. Methods: This mixed-method study comprised three phases. The initial phase involved identifying the causes of inefficiency through a comprehensive literature review of relevant studies published between January 1, 2010, to January 1, 2021. The causes were then aligned and prioritized using criteria derived from the literature and expert opinion. Finally, the identified causes were ranked based on their significance using Multiple-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA). Results: From an initial pool of 307 causes of inefficiency, they were reduced to 121 causes in the first round of screening which were categorized into 13 thematic topics. The second screening process further narrowed the list to 48 causes. Among these, the leading causes of inefficiency included the inadequate supply and unequal distribution of hospital beds, the overuse of health services, and the mismanagement of the health workforce. In contrast, the use of traditional treatment methods was determined to be the least significant factor contributing to inefficiency. Conclusion: This study identified key inefficiencies in Iran's health system, such as resource misallocation, overuse of services, and workforce mismanagement. Addressing these issues is essential for optimizing resource utilization, enhancing service delivery, and achieving UHC. The findings suggest that policymakers should prioritize reforms in hospital bed distribution, implement strategies to reduce unnecessary health service use, and strengthen human resource management. Additionally, targeted policies that focus on decentralizing healthcare decision-making and enhancing primary care could significantly improve system-wide efficiency. Written Corrective Feedback (WCF) is a controversial topic among theorists and researchers in L2 studies. Ellis, Sheen, Murakami, and Takashima (2008) identify two dominant dichotomies in this regard, that is focused vs. unfocused WCF and direct vs. indirect WCF. This study considered both dichotomies in a matrix format, resulted in the recognition of four types of operationally defined WCF, and aimed at: (1) investigating the effects of four types of WCF (i.e., focused direct CF, unfocused direct CF, focused indirect CF, and unfocused indirect CF) on intermediate EFL learners' writing performance; (2) finding out the most effective type of WCF for intermediate EFL learners' writing performance; (3) determining learners' attitudes toward the effectiveness of using WCF and the types which they had received. After conducting Nelson English Language Test (Test 300 D), out of 140 male and female Iranian EFL learners, 120 of them were selected as intermediate learners, aging from 14-18. The subjects were then assigned randomly to four homogeneous groups (each group including 30 participants). The pre-test and post-test both included a writing test which assessed learners' writing performance, and then their scores were analyzed by using analytic marking scale. The results indicated that, learners outperformed in all of the four groups, validating WCF as an effective technique which can be used in EFL classes. A clear implication of the study is that WCF types (specially unfocused direct CF) should be emphasized as an essential tool for developing writing ability of intermediate EFL learners.

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between Iranian EFL Learners' Cultural intelligence (CQ) and their performance on the IELTS Listening Module. Sixty advanced EFL students majoring in English translation at University of Zanjan were matched for the study through the Oxford Quick Placement Test. Cultural Intelligence Scale developed and validated by Ang et al. (2007) was used to assess the participants' cultural intelligence. The IELTS Listening Module and the Cultural Intelligence Scale were administered to the participants who were willing to take part in this study. The correlational analysis of the results revealed that there exists a statistically significant relationship between EFL learners' CQ and their performance on IELTS Listening Module. Furthermore, running multiple regression analysis indicated that of the four components of CQ (i.e. metacognitive, cognitive, behavioral, and motivational CQs), motivational CQ is the best predictor for the listening ability of EFL learners. The findings of the study highlight the importance of incorporating programs for teaching culture in the EFL classroom, as enhancing cultural intelligence related skills at schools and universities can promote better communicational skills.

Primary pulmonary leiomyosarcoma (PPL) arises from pulmonary smooth muscle tissue, with less than 0.5% incidence among pulmonary malignancies and 30% among primary pulmonary sarcomas. Here, we present a case of PPL managed with pazopanib. Moreover, a brief review of relevant literature was conducted. A 65-year-old female presented with chronic cough, weight loss, and recurrent pneumonia, with a medical history including diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia, as well as past surgical colectomy and hysterectomy (due to abnormal uterine bleeding with normal pathology and no evidence of uterine leiomyosarcoma). Upon admission, she exhibited fever, cough, dyspnea, and decreased breath sounds over the upper lung lobe. Diagnostic workups revealed a large pulmonary mass, diagnosed as leiomyosarcoma via core needle biopsy and subsequent immunohistochemical staining. Neoadjuvant treatment with ifosfamide and adriamycin followed by chemoradiotherapy was attempted, but surgery for tumor resection was not feasible. Then, gemcitabine and docetaxel were chosen as the new treatment after ifosfamide and adriamycin were not effective. Imaging revealed tumor not reacting to latest treatment, either. Given the disease's persistence and the patient's diminished capacity for chemotherapy, the patient is presently undergoing pazopanib treatment, with ongoing monitoring of its effects. After 3 months of treatment with pazopanib (administered orally at 200 mg twice daily), the patient experienced a significant reduction in tumor size, with a notable decrease from 135 mm to 80 mm, approximating one-third of the initial size, indicating a positive therapeutic effect. This case report provides preliminary evidence suggesting that pazopanib, an oral multi-tyrosine kinase inhibitor, may be a promising therapeutic option for the management of PPL. Background: Any abnormal change in thyroid hormone levels leads to thyroid disorders, including hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, goiter, and so on. Recent studies have reported an increasing prevalence and incidence of thyroid disorders worldwide. This study aims to determine the hypothyroid prevalence, incidence, and risk factors related to this disorder. Methods: Data from a comprehensive prospective cohort study, collected from a population of 10,000 Yazd (Iran) individuals over a period of 6 years (2015-2021) was analyzed. Physicians diagnosed hypothyroidism and reported it. Data processing and preparation were performed using SQL18 and Excel, while STATA17 and SPSS22 software were employed for data analysis. Descriptive statistics, logistic regression, and Chi-square tests were conducted at a significance level of 0.05. Results: The prevalence of hypothyroidism was found to be 93/1000, and the incidence was 15/1000 of the population, respectively. Women had five folds more chance of hypothyroidism (adjusted OR=5.31, 95% CI=3.06-9.19 vs. unadjusted OR=6.28, 95% CI=3.90-10.12), and they usually developed it between the ages of 30 and 39. Eating less (iodized) salt also increased the risk of hypothyroidism (unadjusted OR=1.47, 95% CI=1.02-2.11). Iron supplementation (unadjusted OR=2.09, 95% CI=1.26-3.48) was identified as one of the significant risk factors. Based on our findings in the unadjusted model, tooth brushing once or twice a day increases the chance of hypothyroidism (OR=1.89, P=0.008, and OR=2.12, P=0.016, respectively). Tobacco smoking (unadjusted OR=0.29, 95% CI=0.107-0.786) was also among the factors that need further investigation. Background: Frailty is a common geriatric syndrome associated with adverse health outcomes in older adults. This study aimed to examine the association between frailty index and mortality in elderly residents of nursing homes in Iran. Methods: This historical cohort study used data extracted from the Sina Electronic Health Record System (SinaEHR®, Iran) and the national cause of death registry in Iran. The study population included 9199 adults aged =60 assessed for frailty in nursing homes across Iran from April 2021 to June 2022. They were followed up until August 2022. Frailty was defined as a score >3 on Fried's 5-item index. We used multivariable logistic regression to determine adjusted odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for mortality-related factors. The chisquare test compared mortality across groups. Data were analyzed using Stata software, version 11 with P<0.05 as the significance level. Results: Of 9199 subjects, 3566(38.7%) were frail, and 5643(61.3%) were non-frail. During follow-up, 3354(36.5%) deaths occurred. Frailty was associated with 2.49 times higher odds of mortality (95% CI, 2.27%, 2.74%; P<0.001) compared to the non-frail state after adjustment for covariates. Older age (P<0.001), female sex (P<0.001), and comorbidities (P<0.001) were also significant predictors of mortality. Conclusion: Frailty index strongly predicts mortality risk in Iranian elderly nursing home residents. Assessing and managing frailty may help reduce adverse outcomes in this vulnerable population. Objective: Emotional divorce refers to a state of emotional disengagement from one's spouse, which can lead to marital dissatisfaction. Gender role conflict is a predictor of marital dissatisfaction and ultimately, divorce. The literature suggests that rigid adherence to traditional gender roles may contribute to emotional divorce. In this article, the authors aim to investigate the moderating effect of gender roles in the relationship between emotional divorce and marital satisfaction by using two multivariate methods in statistical analysis. Materials and methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 539 women aged 18-65 years. The standard questionnaires used include 1) Bem Sex Role Inventory (Short form), 2) Gutman's Emotional Divorce Questionnaire, and 3) Evaluation and Nurturing Relationship Issues, Communication and Happiness (ENRICH) Marital Satisfaction (EMS) Scale. To achieve the purpose of the study, PLS and PLSc methods have been used. Results: The mean age and time of marriage were 33.88 ± 6.6 and 13.03 ± 7.29 years. There is a significant negative relationship between emotional divorce and marital satisfaction. The gender role of most participants in the study has been androgenic and feminine, which has increased the moderating effect of this relationship. Also, when there is a common (reflective) factor model, Consistent Partial Least Square is more likely to provide a better fit than Partial Least Square. Conclusion: The results showed that higher women's marital satisfaction would be associated with lower emotional divorce. On the other hand, the role of gender is a mediating factor in marital satisfaction and emotional divorce. Having good male and female characteristics can have a positive impact on marital satisfaction, so increasing couples' knowledge of gender roles and trying to reduce traditional extreme roles can help increase marital satisfaction and reduce emotional divorce. Introduction: This study measures the COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness (CVE) against hospital admission and severe COVID-19. Methods: This study is a test-negative case-control design using data from eight provinces in April, 2021 until March, 2022. The individuals were classified as cases and controls based on the results of the RT-PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 and matched based on the timing of the test being conducted as well as the timing of hospital admission. The measure of association was an odds ratio (OR) by univariate and multiple logistic regression. The multiple logistic regression has been carried out to take confounding factors and potential effect modifiers into account. The CVE was computed as CVE = (1 – OR)*100 with 95% confidence interval. Results: Among 19314 admitted patients, of whom 13216 (68.4%) were cases and 6098 (31.6%) were controls, 1313 (6.8%) died. From total, 5959 (30.8%) patients had received the vaccine in which one, two, and booster doses were 2443 (12.6%), 2796 (14.5٪), and 720 (3.7٪), respectively. The estimated adjusted effectiveness of only one dose, two doses and booter vaccination were 22% (95% CI: 14%-29%), 35% (95% CI: 29%-41%) and 33% (95% CI: 16%-47%), respectively. In addition, the adjusted vaccine effectiveness against severe outcome was 33% (95% CI: 19%- 44%), 34% (95% CI: 20%- 45%) and 20% (95% CI: -29%- 50%) for those who received one, two and booster vaccinations, respectively. Conclusion: Our study concluded that full vaccination, though less effective compared to similar studies elsewhere, decreased hospital admissions and deaths from COVID-19 in Iran, particularly during the Delta variant period, with an observed decline during the Omicron variant dominance. In this article, I examine the emergence of "meme-feminism" on Iranian social media, which adopts innovative tactics to combat gendered hate online. I propose the concept of "memeing back" at misogyny and numerous gendered inequalities as not only a unique feminist tactic but also a political and satirical world-building practice. With a detailed analysis of theorizations of (digital) feminist activism and mediated visual humor, I demonstrate how the adoption of memes can, through anonymity and visual community-building, extend beyond dominant forms of popular feminism to combat the pervasion of anti-feminism on Iranian social media. I further unpack how this tactic mobilizes feminist memes by utilizing shared aesthetic visualization, a feminist politics of exposure, and visual nagging as embodied and mediated interventions to critique socioeconomic inequalities impacting women-identifying individuals in Iran. On this basis, I argue for the significance of online memes and the "memeing back" tactic in advancing feminist demands under suppressive, violent, and capitalist states. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

One hundred and eighteen sputum specimens suspected of Mycobacterium abscessus infection were collected. Species level identification of M. abscessus was performed by rpoB sequencing. Clonality analysis was done by multilocus sequence typing (MLST) for M. abscessus. Antibiotic susceptibility testing was performed for clarithromycin, amikacin, ciprofloxacin and moxifloxacin. Altogether 128 isolates were obtained and were subjected to rpoB gene sequencing for definite identification. Among them 59 were identified as M. abscessus, and these included 22 (37.28%) isolates of M. abscessus subsp. abscessus, 22 (37.28%) isolates of M. abscessus subsp. massiliense, and 15 (25.42%) isolates of M. abscessus subsp. bolletii. All 59 M. abscessus complex isolates were analyzed by MLST in this study. Certain sequence types (STs) were identified among the 59 isolates and were specific for each subspecies. Two STs (ST40 and ST33) were specific to M. abscessus subsp. abscessus, one ST (ST20) was specific to M. abscessus subsp. bolletii, and one ST (ST15) was specific to M. abscessus subsp. massiliense. In antibiotic resistance, clarithromycin susceptibility testing of 22 M. abscessus subsp. abscessus strains detected 15 (68.18%) resistant strains, while among 22 M. abscessus subsp. massiliense strains 5 (22.72%) exhibited resistance, and among 15 M. abscessus subsp. bolletii 8 (53.33%) were resistant. This study was conducted to investigate the extent to which scores on depth and breadth of vocabulary knowledge as two dimensions of vocabulary knowledge would contribute to predicting the EFL learners' reading performance with a minimum vocabulary size of 3000 word families and also to find out the difference, if any, between the reading comprehension performance of two groups as having high and low depth and breadth of vocabulary knowledge. All instruments (Word-Associate Test (WAT) (Read, 1993) measuring depth of vocabulary knowledge (DVK), Vocabulary Levels Test (VLT) (Nation, 1983) measuring Vocabulary Size (VS), and Reading Comprehension Test (RC) were administered together within the same session to 38 Iranian senior university students. Then the gathered data were analyzed by a Pearson correlation and two independent t-tests. Results revealed that (a) the interrelations among DVK, VS, and RC were high and positive; (b) depth of vocabulary knowledge provided a significant contribution to the prediction of reading comprehension; and (c) the students who had stronger depth and breadth of vocabulary knowledge performed better on reading comprehension. These findings provided empirical support for the importance of depth of vocabulary knowledge in reading comprehension. Regarding this, the necessity of incorporating this aspect into EFL programs and activities is desirable. (Contains 7 tables.)

Background: This study aims to predict the trend of procurement and storage of various blood products, as well as planning and monitoring the consumption of blood products in different centers across Iran based on artificial intelligence until the year 2027. Methods: This research constitutes a time-series investigation within the realm of longitudinal studies. In this study, information on the number of packed red blood cells (RBC), leukoreduced red blood cells (LR-RBC), and platelets (PLT), PLT-Apheresis, and fresh frozen plasma (FFP) was requested from all blood transfusion centers in the country and extracted using a unified protocol. After the initial examination of the information and addressing data issues and inconsistencies, the corrected data were analyzed. Both conventional and artificial intelligence approaches were used to predict each product in this study. The best model was selected based on goodness-of-fit indicators RMSE and MAPE. Results: Based on the obtained results, the FFP product will follow a relatively consistent process similar to previous years in the next five years. The PLT product is predicted to have a growing trend over the next 5 years, which applies to both the demand and supply of the product. The PLT-Apheresis product also shows a similar upward trend, albeit with a lower growth rate. The RBC product will have a constant trend over a 5-year period (long-term) according to both models, taking into account short-term changes. Similarly, there is a similar trend in LR-RBC, with the expectation that short-term pattern repetition will continue over a 5-year period (long-term). Comparing the goodness-of-fit results, the LSTM model proved to be better for predicting the dominant blood products. Conclusions: The growth of the elderly population and diseases related to old age, and on the other hand, the trend of increasing the consumption of the product with a short lifespan (PLT) requires the activation of the management of the patient's blood, especially in relation to this product in medical centers. The trend for other products in the next five years is similar to previous years, and no growth in demand is observed. Aim: The potential of different foods to induce postprandial hyperinsulinemia may be involved in the development of metabolic syndrome (MetS). We aimed to evaluate the association between dietary insulin indices and MetS in a large population of adults in Iran. Methods: A total of 6356 adults aged 35–70 years were included in the present cross‐sectional study. A validated block‐format 125‐item semiquantitative food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) was used to obtain usual food intakes, and MetS was defined according to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and American Heart Association (AHA)/National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) criteria. Results: MetS was prevalent in 13.8% of participants. Mean age of the study participants was 46.58 ± 8.82 years, and mean body mass index (BMI) was 25.02 ± 4.60 kg/m2. Mean dietary insulin index (DII) and dietary insulin load (DIL) were 63.15 ± 7.57 and 168.253 ± 52.09, respectively. In the crude model, men in the highest DIL quartile were more likely to have hyperglycemia than those in the lowest quartile (OR: 1.75, 95% CI: 1.12–2.73, p trend = 0.04). This association remained significant and was even stronger after adjusting for potential confounders in model I (OR: 3.64, 95% CI: 1.57–8.47, p trend = 0.005) and further adjustment for BMI in model II (OR: 3.61, 95% CI: 1.55–8.44, p trend = 0.006). Conclusions: In healthy men, adherence to a high‐DIL diet may be associated with a greater likelihood of having hyperglycemia. Land degradation (LD) is a significant environmental issue that needs to be spatially mapped in different areas. This research provides a framework to prioritize the geo-environmental and anthropogenic factors on LD in a semi-arid region, Qazvin Plain, in Iran based on the maximum entropy model for the first time and also to produce the LD hazard map. The LD inventory map that shows the occurrence points of LD was prepared based on the decreasing trend of net primary productivity (NPP) over 20 years. 120 random points were selected as degraded sites where NPP showed a decreasing trend. Several environmental and anthropogenic factors including temperature, rainfall, land use, normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), vegetation soil salinity index (VSSI), visible and shortwave infrared drought index (VSDI), electrical conductivity (EC) and sodium adsorption ratio (SAR) of groundwater, groundwater table, annual depletion of groundwater resources, slope, aspect, and altitude were considered as predictive factors of LD and their relative contributions were determined using the maximum entropy model. According to the findings, 49.74% of the region was in the class of low degradation. Also, 22.57%, 17.87%, and 9.82% of the plain were related to the moderate, high, and very high degradation classes, respectively. The model specified altitude as the most significant variable influencing LD followed by land use, slope, and VSSI. The least important variable affecting LD in the study area was the aspect. The results of modeling LD also showed that the areas most sensitive to LD were frequently rangelands which are mostly found on steep slopes and highlands. Based on the UAC value, the model illustrated a very good efficiency with a value of 0.8. According to the results, the maximum entropy model successfully mapped the LD hazard in the Qazvin plain. Introduction: Untreated canals represent the primary cause of treatment failure in molars and the second leading cause in other dental groups. This study determined the prevalence of untreated canals and their relationship with periapical periodontitis using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images. Materials and Methods: 385 CBCT images with at least one treated canal were selected from the oral and maxillofacial radiology center. The number of roots and canals, presence, and size of periapical pathology, and presence of untreated canals were recorded. The study used descriptive statistics and Chi-square, Fisher's exact, and odds ratio tests to analyze data. Results: Of the 2053 teeth examined, 14.9% had at least one untreated canal. Untreated canals in teeth increase the chance of having a periapical lesion, raising the prevalence by 11 times. Of these, 91.8% had both untreated canals and periapical lesions. This was more than teeth without untreated canals (35.8%). Most untreated canals were in maxillary molars (65.3%), and mandibular molars (12.54%). There was a statistically significant relationship (P<0.001) between the number of roots, canals, expansion, destruction, and jaw type with the prevalence of untreated canals. The maxillary first molar (68.66%) and second mesiobuccal (MB2) canal (63.27%) had the highest percentages of untreated canals. Conclusions: The MB2 had the highest prevalence of untreated canals. The presence of untreated canals significantly increased the risk of expansion and/or destruction. Therefore, identifying these conditions can also be useful in diagnosing untreated canals. Background and Objectives: During the coronavirus pandemic, the overuse of antibiotics to reduce coinfections and mortality may be contributing to the rise of antimicrobial resistance. In this study, we aim to investigate the antibiotic resistance changes of Acinetobacter baumannii post-COVID-19 pandemic in Northern Iran. Materials and Methods: The current study is a cross-sectional study. Between 2022 and 2023, 2190 clinical samples were collected from patients with healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) at four hospitals in Sari, which served as corona centers after the COVID-19 pandemic. Antimicrobial sensitivity was determined using standard broth macro-dilution, and resistance genes were detected using multiplex PCR. Results: Based on the results co-amoxiclav had a resistance rate of 100%, while piperacillin/tazobactam showed the least resistance rate of 29.82%. In terms of GM MIC values, colistin was the most potent against multi-drug resistant isolates. The frequency of bla OXA-51, ampC, aphA6, and bla NDM genes were 100%, 99.12%, 90.35%, and 69.30% respectively. Conclusion: Our study revealed high multi-drug resistance rates. Background. Knowledge-sharing is a process in which people mutually exchange tacit and objective knowledge and create new knowledge. This study aimed to identify the main themes and organize the components of nurses' knowledge sharing. Methods. A mixed research method was adopted to conduct the present study. To this end, a qualitative method with a thematic analysis approach was first implemented to investigate the statistical population. The required data were collected by reviewing the published national and international articles using the keyword "knowledge sharing" in search engines. In total, 387 scientific research articles were retrieved from searching the literature. Then, the inclusion criteria were used to filter the information and reduce the number of articles to 48 containing the related codes specific to the themes. The quantitative part was an analytical survey. The statistical population included the nurses of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences. The structural equation modeling methodology was adopted to determine a sample size of 284 individuals. Results. In the qualitative part, there were 27 main themes, 11 sub-core themes, and nine knowledge-sharing organizing themes, including attitude, mental norms, rewards, costs, perceived behavioral control, mutual benefits, knowledge-sharing tools, and perception of gaining reputation. The components of knowledge-sharing intention were identified in the quantitative part based on the nurses' points of view, and gaining reputation, mutual benefits, and mental norms were found the most important components in order of priority. Conclusion. Based on the findings of this study, the components of attitude, perceived behavioral control, reward, mutual benefits, reputation and subjective norms are effective in the knowledge sharing behavior pattern of nurses and can cause the actual behavior of the individual. Wolbachia is a maternally inherited intracellular bacterium that is considered to be the most plentiful endosymbiont found in arthropods. It reproductively manipulates its host to increase the chances of being transmitted to the insect progeny; and it is currently used as a means of suppressing disease vector populations or controlling vector-borne diseases. Studies of the dissemination and prevalence of Wolbachia among its arthropod hosts are important for its possible use as a biological control agent. The molecular identification of Wolbachia relies on different primers sets due to Wolbachia strain variation. Here, we screened for the presence of Wolbachia in a broad range of Brachycera fly species (Diptera), collected from different regions of Iran, using nine genetic markers (wsp, ftsZ, fbpA, gatB, CoxA, gltA, GroEL dnaA, and 16s rRNA), for detecting, assessing the sensitivity of primers for detection, and phylogeny of this bacterium. The overall incidence of Wolbachia among 22 species from six families was 27.3%. The most commonly positive fly species were Pollenia sp. and Hydrotaea armipes. However, the bacterium was not found in the most medically important flies or in potential human disease vectors, including Musca domestica, Sarcophaga spp., Calliphora vicinia, Lucilia sericata, and Chrysomya albiceps. The primer sets of 16s rRNA with 53.0% and gatB with 52.0% were the most sensitive primers for detecting Wolbachia. Blast search, phylogenetic, and MLST analysis of the different locus sequences of Wolbachia show that all the six distantly related fly species likely belonging to supergroup A. Our study showed some primer sets generated false negatives in many of the samples, emphasizing the importance of using different loci in detecting Wolbachia. Background: Pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis (PAM) is a rare autosomal recessive genetic disorder with approximately 1000 known cases worldwide, in which calcium phosphate microliths deposit in the alveolar air spaces. As of writing this report, no definitive conventional therapy exists, and many PAM cases may progress to severe respiratory failure and potential death. Bilateral lung transplantation (BLx) seems to be the most optimal solution; however, this procedure is challenging along with limited reports regarding the outcome in PAM. We report a case of PAM successfully treated with BLx for the first time in Iran. Method: We present the case of a 42‐year‐old female with a longstanding history of cough, not responding to conventional antitussive medication, who was diagnosed as a case of PAM following a hospitalization due to coughing, dyspnea on exertion, and hemoptysis. Despite treatment with corticosteroid and medical treatment, no improvement was achieved and she subsequently developed respiratory and right ventricular failure, with oxygen ventilation dependence. Eventually, she was scheduled for BLx. The operation was successful and during her 2‐year follow‐up, no recurrence or significant postoperative complications has been reported. Conclusion: This case presentation and literature review confirm the effectiveness of BLx as a promising treatment for PAM‐diagnosed patients, improving both life expectancy and quality of life. Background: This article introduces the first national guidelines for the management including diagnosis, treatment, and secondary prevention of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in Iran. Materials and Methods: The members of the guideline development group (GDG) were specialists and experts in fields related to ACS and were affiliated with universities of medical sciences or scientific associations in the country. They carefully examined the evidence and clinical concerns related to ACS management and formulated 13 clinical questions that were sent to systematic review group who developed related evidence using Grade method. Finally the GDG developed the recommendations and suggestions of the guideline. Results: The first three questions in the guideline focus on providing recommendations for handling a patient who experience chest pain at home, in a health house or center, during ambulance transportation, and upon arrival at the emergency department (ED) as well as the initial diagnostic measures in the ED. Subsequently, the recommendations related to the criteria for categorizing patients into low,intermediate and high-risk groups are presented. The guideline addressed primary treatment measures for ACS patients in hospitals with and without code 247 or having primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) facilities, and the appropriate timing for PCI based on the risk assessment. In addition, the most efficacious antiplatelet medications for ACS patients in the ED as well as its optimal duration of treatment are presented. The guideline details the recommendations for therapeutic interventions in patients with ACS and acute heart failure, cardiogenic shock, myocardial infarction with nonobstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA), multivessel occlusion, as well as the indication for prescribing a combined use of anticoagulants and antiplatelet during hospitalization and upon discharge. Regarding secondary prevention, while emphasizing the referral of these patients to rehabilitation centers, other interventions that include pharmaceutical and nonpharmacological ones are addressed, In addition, necessary recommendations for enhancing lifestyle and posthospital discharge pharmaceutical treatments, including their duration, are provided. There are specific recommendations and suggestions for subgroups, such as patients aged over 75 years and individuals with heart failure, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease. Conclusion: Developing guidelines for ACS diagnosis, treatment and secondary prevention according to the local context in Iran can improve the adherence of our health care providers, patients health, and policy makers plans. This study aims to investigate the trends and project the major risk factors of Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) in Iran. We obtained the trend of prevalence of main risk factors related to NCDs in 30 to 70-year-old-individuals. The data were extracted from WHO STEP wise approach to NCDs risk factor surveillance (STEPS) survey. Also,the previous studies conducted at national and subnational levels from 2001 to 2016 were employed. The prevalence of risk factors was projected by 2030 using Bayesian Model Averaging (BMA) and Spatio-temporal model stratified by sex and province. The percent change for the age-standardized prevalence of smoking in men between 2001 and 2016 was calculated to be − 27.0. Also, the corresponding values for the risk factors of diabetes, hypertension, obesity and overweight, physical inactivity (PI), and mean of salt intake were − 26.1, 29.0, 70.0, 96.8, 116.6, and 7.5, respectively. It is predicted that smoking and these risk factors will undergo a change to show values of − 1.26, 38.7, 43.7, 2.36, and 15.3 by 2030, respectively. The corresponding values in women for the time interval of 2001–2016 were − 27.3, 26.3, 82.8, 1.88, 75.2, and 4.2, respectively. Plus, projections indicate that the 2030 variation values are expected to be − 25.0, 16.7, 37.5, 28.7, 26.7, and 10.9 respectively. This study showed that the prevalence of four risk factors of PI, overweight and obesity, hypertension, and diabetes is increasing in Iran. The present study is focused on the species belonging to the genus Maiestas Distant, 1917 (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Deltocephalinae, Deltocephalini) in Iran, based on some specimens collected during 2016 to 2019 from Southeast Iran and species that have been previously reported: M horvathi (Then, 1896), M pruthii (Metcalf, 1967), M schmidtgeni (Wagner, 1939), and M. trifasciata (Lindberg, 1954). M. pruthii, previously known from the Oriental region (India and Pakistan), is recorded for the first time in the Palaearctic region from Southeast Iran and M. horvathi is a new record for the fauna of Sistan and Baluchestan Province. Background: Data on the epidemiology of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in the Middle East are scarce. We aimed to describe the clinical phenotype, disease course, and medication usage of IBD cases from Iran in the Middle East. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study of registered IBD patients in the Iranian Registry of Crohn's and Colitis (IRCC) from 2017 until 2022. We collected information on demographic characteristics, past medical history, family history, disease extent and location, extra-intestinal manifestations, IBD medications, and activity using the IBD-control-8 questionnaire and the Manitoba IBD index, admissions history, history of colon cancer, and IBD-related surgeries. Results: In total, 9746 patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) (n = 7793), and Crohn's disease (CD) (n = 1953) were reported. The UC to CD ratio was 3.99. The median age at diagnosis was 29.2 (IQR: 22.6,37.6) and 27.6 (IQR: 20.6,37.6) for patients with UC and CD, respectively. The male-to-female ratio was 1.28 in CD patients. A positive family history was observed in 17.9% of UC patients. The majority of UC patients had pancolitis (47%). Ileocolonic involvement was the most common type of involvement in CD patients (43.7%), and the prevalence of structuring behavior was 4.6%. A prevalence of 0.3% was observed for colorectal cancer among patients with UC. Moreover,15.2% of UC patients and 38.4% of CD patients had been treated with anti-tumor necrosis factor (anti-TNF). Conclusion: In this national registry-based study, there are significant differences in some clinical phenotypes such as the prevalence of extra-intestinal manifestations and treatment strategies such as biological use in different geographical locations. Introduction: Dust storm is one of the desertification and land gegradation consequences especially in arid and hyper-arid regions of the world. Fine particles released from the Earth's surface can be released several kilometers and subsequently over long distances, sometimes even across continents. These particles play a key role in the Earth system by affecting the radiation balance as well as forest and ocean ecosystems. Weather is often considered as the main factor influencing the occurrence of dust storms. Dust storms have increased in recent years mainly due to continued droughts and global warming. Temperature is an important variable in climatilogy in terms of its direct effect on weather variables such as pressure, wind movement, cloud formation and precipitation. Based on previous studies, the increase in temperature along with the decrease in rainfall and the increase in wind speed provide the conditions for the creation of dust storms. In general, the review of the studies conducted in the field of evaluating dust changes and the effect of temperature parameters on it shows that it is possible to conduct these studies from different perspectives and methods. Therefore, it is necessary to find a comprehensive view on dust and factors affecting it by reviewing and evaluating the results of other studies so that the phenomenon can be controlled and managed. The number of dusty days in Khuzestan province is significant and has increased in recent years. The reason for that is its proximity to the great deserts of the neighboring countries. Therefore, this province is one of the challenging areas of the country in the field of dust management and control. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the trend of dust changes and the effect of temperature on this phenomenon. The results of this study help to better understand the phenomenon of dust in Khuzestan province. Materials and methods: In this research, three data groups were used including the monthly average temperature of 13 meteorological stations in the study area, the monthly average land surface temperature (LST), and the monthly average aerosol optical depth (AOD). First, the trend of dust changes was evaluated using the Mann-Kendall test. Then, the relationship between temperature parameters and dust was investigated using the correlation between the AOD in a buffer of 5 km around the selected station with temperature parameters including monthly average temperature and average monthly LST in buffers of 5, 10 and 20 km around the selected station. Results and Discussion: The evaluation of the average changes in the buffer of 5 km around the selected stations showed that in the months of February, July, December and April, no increasing trend was observed in any of the stations and even in the month of April, there was a decreasing trend in two stations. The trend of AOD changes was increasing with a probability of more than 90% in the months of August, September and November in seven, March in five, October in four, January in three, May in two and June in one station. The correlation results of temperature parameters and AOD showed that a very strong correlation between average LST and AOD has occurred only in the three months of May, June and July in different buffers. There are the highest number of strong correlations in the months of May to August between temperature parameters and AOD. Also, the highest number of very weak correlations occurred in April, March, November, and December. The highest number of very weak and weak correlations are related to air temperature (85 and 47 numbers, respectively). This shows that LST is more important than temperature in evaluating changes in dust intensity in the study area. Conclusion: According to the results of this research, it can be said that air temperature has a weak correlation with dust, and most of the strong and very strong correlations occurred with the average LST in different buffers, which shows that LST is more important than temperature in evaluating dust intensity changes in the study area. In general, evaluation and monitoring of dust changes can be effective in identifying new dust sources as well as evaluating wind erosion, dust control, and management activities. Therefore, it can be suggested that an online and up-to-date system based on remote sensing and artificial intelligence be designed and presented to evaluate and monitor dust changes. In this case, the management of the dust phenomenon in Iran will be more targeted and the dust sources can be identified faster. Background: Vaccines during the pandemic COVID-19 were the best solution to overcome the pandemic. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare Sputnik V, Sinopharm, and AstraZeneca vaccins' side effects. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional study was designed among healthcare workers in a teaching hospital. The checklist was prepared for collecting data of demographic variables, respondents' medical history, and vaccines side effects. Results: More than half of participants received Sinopharm, while the development of COVID-19 following AstraZeneca was significantly among smaller proportion of respondents than other vaccines (P< 0.0001). There was no significant difference between age group and general side effects. The prevalence of serious side effects was higher in healthcare workers younger than 40 years old (P< 0.0001). The emergence of oral side effects was higher in participants who received two doses of vaccines in comparison to individuals who received one dose (P< 0.0001). Conclusion: The prevalence of serious side effects was higher in sputnik V in comparison to the other vaccines. The growth of the world population and the problem of food supply have led to the development of agricultural land, particularly in the Third World and in Iran, and thus to a sharp increase in water consumption regardless of the existing water resources. On the other hand, the ever-increasing growth of industries and factories, regardless of the impact on the environment, together with the increase in water consumption, has disturbed the balance of the environment and caused climate change with rising temperatures and increasing pollution. Unfortunately, the management of water resources and the environment is incompatible with the development of agricultural land and the development of industries, and therefore in most countries of the world a situation has arisen in which surface and groundwater resources are at risk. The two main variables, precipitation and water consumption, control groundwater levels. The area studied in this research is the Sarab Plain aquifer located in East Azerbaijan province, Iran. In the Sarab Plain and other plains of Iran, indiscriminate harvesting has led to a significant decline in the groundwater level (in other words, piezometric depth) and subsidence of the plain. The area under cultivation of various agricultural crops such as beans, cucumbers and alfalfa and gardens is about 38,176 ha, irrigated by 739 licensed wells. Agricultural uses on the one hand and industrial and animal uses on the other led to a progressive lowering of the piezometric level of the plain. The average water consumption from the table is currently 53 million cubic meters per year, while the amount of renewable water is 35.81 million cubic meters per year. The data used in the study are monthly precipitation from 19 rain gauge stations, monthly piezometric codes from 78 piezometers converted to piezometric depth, and monthly water consumption from 1886 consumable wells between 2007 and 2022. Individual regression relationships were created between the piezometric depth variable and consumption and precipitation variables. In the first step, a general hybrid exponential relationship between piezometric depth, consumption and precipitation was found. The correlation coefficient value between the calculated and observed piezometric depth was 0.69. Furthermore, the root mean square error and Kling-Gupta were 2 m and 0.57, respectively. In order to apply the hybrid exponential relationship to predict piezometric depth in the coming years, it was necessary to predict precipitation and consumption. To predict monthly precipitation based on its periodicity, the Thomas and Fiering (T&F) consumption forecasting method was used. 20% of the data was compared with calculated data. The result showed, R = 0.815 and RMSE = 0.07 mm between calculated and observed data. Additionally, to predict consumption in the coming years, a suitable regression relationship between consumption and time was constructed, showing a correlation of 0.97 and a root mean square error of 0.0008 mcm with observations. In the second step, precipitation and consumption were predicted for the next 3 years (2023–2025) and piezometric depth were determined for this period by applying them in the hybrid model. The forecast for the next three years shows that the upward trend of the piezometric level will continue. The application of the regression method resulted in a final equation, which is particularly important in view of the stabilization of the piezometric level of the reservoir. This method has no particular limitations and is an appropriate method when accurate consumption water and precipitation statistics are available. The only limitation that can be considered with this method is the movement around the average values and does not take into account the positional fluctuations. This work is new because it calculates groundwater simultaneously using two parameters: precipitation and water consumption. Other similar studies did not use groundwater consumption data. Introduction: Mothers of preterm infants need support to deal with the issues caused by the early birth of their infants. Objective: The authors examined the impact of a multifaceted supportive approach on the mothers' perceived support levels. Methods: The present quasi-experimental study was performed on 143 mother–preterm infant pairs, in two neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) of referral and educational hospitals in Tehran, Iran. The base of developed interventions was known to support system patterns of mothers with preterm infants. Different supportive interventions (appraisal, instrumental, emotional, and informational) of mothers were implemented during three months. The Nurse Parent Support Tool was applied for assessing perceptions of perceived support by mothers. Routine care was provided for the control group. The results were analyzed by STATA software 13. Categorical variables were analyzed by chi-square test, t -test, and inverse probability treatment weights. Results: Following adjustments of mean differences of outcomes between study groups (95% confidence interval), all support scores, such as instrumental support, −1.23 (95% CI −1.04 to −1.43), total support, −1.83 (95% CI −1.6 to −2.06), appraisal support, −2.01 (95% CI −1.73 to −2.29), emotional support, −1.87 (95% CI −2.15 to 1.6), and informational support, −2.12 (95% CI −1.82 to −2.43), were significantly higher in the interventional group than in the control group (p <.001). Conclusions: Support received by mothers of preterm infants determines maternal/neonatal health. Information sharing and effective ways to support are essential elements in the mother's ability to deal with the new, stressful situation. Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is recognized as the leading cause of death worldwide. This study analyses CAD risk factors using an artificial neural network (ANN) to predict CAD. Methods: The research data were obtained from a multi-center study, namely the Iran-premature coronary artery disease (I-PAD). The current study used the medical records of 415 patients with CAD hospitalized in Razi Hospital, Birjand, Iran, between May 2016 and June 2019. A total of 43 variables that affect CAD were selected, and the relevant data was extracted. Once the data were cleaned and normalized, they were imported into SPSS (V26) for analysis. The present study used the ANN technique. Results: The study revealed that 48% of the study population had a history of CAD, including 9.4% with premature CAD and 38.8% with CAD. The variables of age, sex, occupation, smoking, opium use, pesticide exposure, anxiety, sexual activity, and high fasting blood sugar were found to be significantly different among the three groups of CAD, premature CAD, and non-CAD individuals. The neural network achieved success with five hidden fitted layers and an accuracy of 81% in non-CAD diagnosis, 79% in premature diagnosis, and 78% in CAD diagnosis. Anxiety, acceptance, eduction and gender were the four most important factors in the ANN model. Conclusions: The current study shows that anxiety is a high-prevalence risk factor for CAD in the hospitalized population. There is a need to implement measures to increase awareness about the psychological factors that can be managed in individuals at high risk for future CAD. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The principle of human dignity is woven into the ethical principles of the midwifery profession, noted as both an obligation and a human right. Research Objectives: The aim of this study is to explore the experiences of midwifery students regarding threats to women's dignity during childbirth. Research Design: This is a qualitative study with explorative design. Participants and Research Context: The research was carried out in 2022 at Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences, involving 32 midwifery students in individual interviews that lasted between 30 and 90 minutes. These participants aged 21 to 28 years, with an average age of 23.5 years, provided their perspectives on the matter. Results: Four key themes described the threats to women's dignity during childbirth: 1) professional incompetence, 2) abuse of power imbalance, 3) caring only for physical and not mental health, and 4) structural issues within the healthcare system. Professional incompetence was characterized by outdated practices and lack of adherence to evidence-based medicine. Abuse of power imbalance was demonstrated in instances where the authoritative position of healthcare providers was misused, thereby disrupting the respectful care that women are entitled to receive. The disproportionate emphasis on physical health over mental health was evidenced by the disregard for mothers' psychological well-being during childbirth. Lastly, systemic structural issues emerged as significant impediments, revealing the need for system-wide changes. Ethical considerations: This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Research Deputy at Kermanshah University. Participation was voluntary and the confidentiality were maintained. Conclusion: The findings underscore the role that unprofessional behavior, ethical lapses in medical practices, and systemic challenges play in undermining maternal dignity during childbirth. These threats necessitate urgent attention and must be adequately addressed in policy development and program implementation to safeguard the dignity of mothers during childbirth. Introduction: Emerging infectious diseases such as SARS-CoV-2 can cause pandemics and create a critical risk for humans. In a previous pilot study, we reported that the immunological responses induced by cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) could decrease the incidence and severity of COVID-19. In this large-scale case–control study, we assessed the possible relationship between mortality and morbidity of COVID-19 in healed CL persons suffering scars compared to cases without CL history. Methods: This controlled cross-sectional study was conducted between July 2020 and December 2022 in the endemic and high-burden areas of CL in southeastern Iran. In the study, 1400 previous CL cases with scars and 1,521,329 subjects who had no previous CL were analyzed. We used R 4.0.2 to analyze the data. Firth's bias reduction approach corresponding to the penalization of likelihood logistic regression by Jeffreys was also employed to influence the variables in the dataset. Also, a Bayesian ordinal logistic regression model was performed to explore the COVID-19 severity in both case and referent groups. Results: The occurrence and severity rate of COVID-19 in CL scar cases are significantly less than in the non-CL control group, while in the CL scar subjects, patients with critical conditions and mortality were not observed. The morbidity (OR = 0.11, CI 0.06–0.20 and P < 0.001) and severity of COVID-19 in previous cases with CL scars were significantly diminished than that in the control group (credible interval − 2.57, − 1.62). Conclusions: The results represented a durable negative relationship between cured CL and COVID-19 incidence and severity. Additional studies seem necessary and should be designed to further validate the true impact and underlying mechanistic action of CL on COVID-19. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The emplacement of Oligocene tonalitic, granodiorite, and quartz diorite suites into Cretaceous andesitic rocks causes the generation of an argillic alteration zone in the northeast of the Kharvana area. No detailed geochemical consideration of the argillic alteration zone has been carried out. In this research, factors controlling the mobility and concentration of rare earth elements (REE) in this alteration zone are determined by different geochemical techniques. The mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of the argillic alteration zone were examined by X-ray diffractometer and Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometry (ICP-AES) and Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), respectively. Based on mineralogical analyses, quartz, kaolinite, alunite, pyrophyllite, muscovite-illite, rutile, chlorite, jarosite, hematite, goethite, and pyrite are the dominant mineral phases in the Kharvan argillic alteration zone. Chondritenormalized REE spider diagrams indicate fractionation and enrichment of LREE from HREE, along with Eu and Ce negative anomalies during the development of the argillic alteration zone. Taking into account Al as an immobile monitor element, argillization of andesite rocks was accompanied by leaching and fixation of REE. Whereas, among the lanthanides, Ce displays a decrease in the content of all the argillic samples. Combining the results obtained from mass change calculations and geochemical parameters, such as (SLREE/SHREE)N and (La/Yb)N ratios, shows that the distribution of lanthanides during the development of the argillic alteration zone is controlled by a number of factors, including changes in pH and redox potential of environment, the difference in the degree of destabilization of lanthanide complexes, adsorption, scavenging by metallic oxides and hydroxides, and isomorphic substitution. River water is one of the most important natural resources for economic development and environmental sustainability. However, river water systems are vulnerable in some of the densely populated regions across the globe. Intense sand mining and waste disposal can lead to river changes, loose foundations, and biodiversity loss. This study aims to develop a web-based geographic information system (GIS) platform to monitor river channel changes and their impacts on river environments due to sand mining and waste burial. The system integrates open-source software, Windows Server 2012, a web server, and PostgreSQL with PostGIS plugins for efficient mapping and storage of geospatial data and volunteered reporting of location events. Interferometric methods, including SNAP2STAMPS Automated Algorithm, persistent scatterer interferometry (PSI), small baseline subset (SBAS), and Snap software, were used to analyze spatial changes of subsidence from Sentinel-1 satellite data from 2021 to 2023 in the Gadar River in Oshnavieh, Iran. The results showed that the maximum subsidence at the riverbank was −10.1 cm due to sand mining, and the maximum uplift was 8.2 cm due to waste landfilling. The average subsidence was reported to be −5.1 cm. The results emphasize spatial analysis, showcasing material mining's impact on subsidence trends and underscoring the significance of public participation in monitoring river health. Three parameters—completeness, correctness, and quality—were used to validate the system. The Kolijan bauxite deposit (southeast Mahabad, northwestern Iran) mainly contains aluminum-bearing iron ores and was deposited in karstic depressions and sinkholes of the middle Permian carbonate rocks of the Ruteh Formation. Based on microscopic observations, the aluminum-bearing iron ores were allogenic in origin. According to XRD and SEM-EDS analyses, hematite and goethite are their main constituents, accompanied by lesser amounts of kaolinite, illite, amesite, boehmite, rutile, anatase, calcite, pyrolusite, crandallite, and parisite-(Ce). Chondrite-normalized REE patterns are indicative of fractionation and enrichment of LREE (La–Eu) compared to HREE (Gd–Lu), along with positive Eu and Ce anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 2.29–5.65; Ce/Ce* = 3.63–5.22). Positive Ce anomalies can be attributed to the role of carbonate bedrock as a geochemical barrier and the precipitation of parisite-(Ce). A strong positive correlation between Eu/Eu* and Ce/Ce* (r = 0.84) indicates that Eu anomalies, similar to Ce anomalies, are closely dependent on an alkaline pH. The distribution and fractionation of elements in the iron ores were controlled by a number of factors, including the pH of the environment in which they formed, wet climatic conditions, adsorption, isomorphic substitution, scavenging, co-precipitation, fluctuations of the groundwater table level, and the role of carbonate bedrock as a geochemical barrier. One of the parameters affecting albedo is snow. Therefore, the effects of snow on albedo can be a tool to understand environmental changes. Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) continuously produces snow and albedo products of the land surface on a global scale and with appropriate spatial resolution and makes them available to researchers. In this study, to investigate the relationship between albedo and snow in Iran, first, the daily data of the MODIS sensor MCD43A4 and MOD10A1 products in the area of Iran in the period of 1/1/2001 to 12/30/2021 for 6770 days were downloaded from the NASA website. Since the temperature conditions for snowfall are provided from an altitude of 1700 m, was calculated the seasonal and long-term correlation between albedo and snow at altitudes above 1700 m. These altitudes, which cover 27% of Iran's area, were known as Iran's Mountains (Mts.). The results showed that in the winter and autumn seasons, which are known as Iran's snowy seasons, the land surface albedo also increases with the increase in snow cover. Therefore, in these seasons, the correlation between albedo and snow over Iran's Mts. is strongly positive. In these seasons, positive correlation covers 91 and 81% of Iran's Mts., respectively. In spring, there is a strong positive correlation in high altitudes and a weak positive/negative correlation in low altitudes. The negative correlation in the spring season is due to the delay in the measuring time of the sensor and the conversion of precipitation from solid to liquid. In the summer season, due to the establishment of Subtropical High-Pressure Systems Azores and the increase in air temperature, the snow cover of the Mts. disappears and the albedo was expected to decrease. But with the reduction of snow cover, albedo has increased. As a result, in these seasons, the correlation between albedo and snow over Iran's Mts. is negative. Mycobacterium fortuitum is a clinically important species among nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM). Treatment of diseases caused by NTM is challenging. The aim of this study was identification of drug susceptibility and detection of mutations in erm(39) related to clarithromycin resistance and in rrl related to linezolid resistance in clinical isolates of M. fortuitum in Iran. In the study, 328 clinical NTM isolates were subjected to identification based on rpoB and 15% of isolates were assigned to M. fortuitum. Minimum inhibitory concentration for clarithromycin and linezolid was determined by E-test. Altogether 64% of M. fortuitum isolates showed resistanc to clarithromycin and 18% of M. fortuitum isolates showed resistance to linezolid. PCR and DNA sequencing were performed in erm(39) and in rrl genes for detection of mutations related to clarithromycin and linezolid resistance, respectively. Sequencing analysis revealed (84.37%) single nucleotide polymorphisms in the erm(39). A total 55.55% of M. fortuitum isolates harbored an A→G, 14.81% harbored an C→A, 29.62% harbored an G→T mutation in erm(39) at position 124, 135, 275. Seven strains harbored point mutation in the rrl gene either at T2131C or at A2358G. Our findings showed M. fortuitum isolates have become a serious problem with high-level antibiotic resistance. Background: This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric indicators of the Persian version of the Sense of Belonging in Nursing School scale (SBNS). Methods: The study conducted in Shahroud and Semnan schools of nursing and midwifery in Iran examined nursing students using a cross-sectional approach by convenience sampling method from 3/6/2023 to 24/8/2023. To assess the SBNS scale, the forward–backward procedure was used to translate it into Persian. Face and content validity were evaluated, and exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted with sample sizes of 200 and 182, respectively. Reliability was assessed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, MacDonald's omega, and intra-class correlation coefficient. Results: The exploratory factor analysis resulted in the exclusion of four items, leaving a final selection of 15 items. These items were categorized into three factors: classmates, clinical staff, and inclusive educational environment, which accounted for 49.16% of the overall variance. The confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the model was a good fit for the observed data, and the subscales had high internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.752 to 0.880) and stability (intra-class correlation coefficient was 0.889 to 0.968). Conclusion: According to the results, it can be concluded that the Persian version of the SBNS scale demonstrates sufficient validity and reliability in assessing students' sense of belonging to the nursing school. Background: Ehlers–Danlos syndrome (EDS), osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), and cutis laxa (CL) are three rare and heterogeneous connective tissue disorders. Patients with these syndromes have similar manifestations and unpredictable prognosis, making a misdiagnosis highly probable. Some of their subtypes are inherited in autosomal recessive patterns, so they are expected to be prevalent in populations like Iran, where consanguineous marriages are common. In the current work, a cohort of Iranian patients with overlapping phenotypes of the EDS/OI/CL and their mutation spectrum was defined. Based on this, in silico analysis was conducted to anticipate further probable genetic variations. Pathogenicity of EDS, OI, and CL variants in Iranian patients was evaluated using Web servers. A protein interaction network was created by String database and visualized using a Python-based library. The Iranome database was used to predict other genetic mutations in all reported genes of EDS, OI, and CL syndromes. Results: In the EDS/OI/CL overlap phenotype, 32 variants in 18 genes have been involved. At least 59% of patients were from families with consanguineous marriages. Interaction analysis showed that COL1A1, COL1A2, CRTAP, LEPRE1, PLOD1, and ADAMTS2 have the most significant impact within the protein network of EDS/OI/CL overlap phenotype. Analyzing the Iranome database revealed 46 variants of EDS, OI, and CL genes potentially disease causing. Conclusion: The overlapping phenotype of EDS, OI, and CL syndromes requires genetic testing (e.g., whole-exome sequencing) to reveal respective variants, which helps to diagnose more accurately and manage the disease more effectively. Particularly in populations with high rates of consanguineous marriages, such as Iran, genetic screening plays a crucial role in premarital and prenatal counseling to prevent the transmission of these rare connective tissue disorders. Psittacine beak and feather disease virus (PBFDV) is a significant viral pathogen affecting the development of beak and feather cells, leading to feather abnormalities in avian species. This study aimed to investigate the molecular detection rate of PBFDV among Psittaciformes in Iran and to evaluate the influence of factors such as sex, species, season, and bird origin on PBFDV prevalence. Feather samples were collected from 1335 Psittaciformes, including Agapornis roseicollis, Pyrrhura molinae, Myiopsitta monachus, Aratinga solstitialis, Nymphicus hollandicus, Psittacula krameri, Psittacus erithacus, Poicephalus senegalus, Eos bornea, and Agapornis fischeri, and subjected to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for PBFDV detection. The overall PBFDV detection rate across all species was 56.2% (751/1335, 95% CI: 53.6%-58.9%). The results showed that Agapornis roseicollis had a 2.23-fold higher likelihood of PBFDV infection compared to the reference species, Myiopsitta monachus (95% CI: 1.36-3.66). Furthermore, a significant interaction effect between season and species was observed. During autumn, Aratinga solstitialis and Pyrrhura molinae were 10.00 (95% CI: 5.10-20.59) and 3.72 (95% CI: 2.28-6.08) times more likely to be infected with PBFDV compared to spring, respectively. These findings underscore a high prevalence of PBFDV in Iran's psittacine population. The study emphasizes the importance of such investigations and the exploration of various risk factors for disease control and prevention strategies. BACKGROUND: Our study centers on various aspects of families who have 2 or more members with hearing loss (HL) and are living in Golestan province in Iran. We aimed to identify those families with the highest probability of hereditary HL and also to examine the impact of consanguinity among them. METHODS: The families included in the study underwent a comprehensive screening process that involved their prenatal and postnatal histories as well as family medical histories. Additionally, each patient received a thorough clinical ear examination. The evaluation also took into account factors such as patterns of inheritance, consanguinity, a 3-generation pedigree, and physical examination. Following this initial assessment, patients were referred for a complete hearing evaluation, which included pure-tone audiometry, speech recognition threshold, otoacoustic emission, and auditory brainstem response tests. RESULTS: We identified a total of 8553 individuals living in Golestan province who are hearing impaired. Among those, our records indicate that 320 families had at least 2 affected members. The rate of consanguinity marriage in non-syndromic families was 64.43%. Also, a significant number (88.12%, or n = 282) of the families exhibited hereditary HL, among which a substantial proportion (89.72%, or n = 253) presented with nonsyndromic forms of HL. Furthermore, bilateral, stable, and prelingual HL were the most frequently observed types, and a majority of the patients were diagnosed with sensorineural and profound HL. CONCLUSION: This study revealed a correlation between consanguinity and the incidence of familial HL, with more probability of bilateral, prelingual, sensorineural, and profound forms. Background: The World Health Organization has introduced two sets of child growth standards for growth assessment. These reference values may not be suitable for use in other populations. Therefore, this study aimed to determine specific Z scores in the population covered by Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in Iran. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on data obtained from the evaluation of height, weight, and head circumference of children aged from 0 to 18 months visiting the healthcare centers of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences from March 2018 to March 2021. A total data of 128,472 children were extracted from the Electronic Health Records (SinaEHR®) and included in the study. Finally, the collected data were analyzed using Minitab and SPSS software (version 16). Results: The L, M, and S parameters were used to calculate Z scores for weight, height, and head circumference. These Z scores were then compared to standard deviation values for each age from our study and international standards to determine any differences. Our study found that mean weight scores were 0.16 kg higher than the CDC standard and 0.34 kg higher than the WHO growth standard. Conclusion: The provision of this exclusive reference to children's growth indicators not only allows for a more accurate evaluation but also provides the possibility of comparison with other populations using their specific growth charts. It seems that one of the best plans is to compare growth charts with international populations and national growth charts, which due to the electronization of the entire processes of the health system, is more possible than ever. This article offers a theoretical account of the figure of the 'Dadkhah mother', the 'justice-seeking mother', by highlighting her historical, political and feminist significance in contemporary Iran and beyond. By drawing on a conceptual analysis of visual images, oral and written history and social media posts, I outline the key qualities of the figure of the Dadkhah mother and her longstanding activism and solidarity-building practices. I elaborate on what I call 'transnational coalitional mothering' and 'digital dadkhahi'. The article builds on feminist theorisations of mothering, resistance, affective (mediated) solidarity and conditions of (un)grievability to argue that the multiple mediatised, resistant and coalitional strategies of the Dadkhah mothers of Iran offer radical alternative modes of thinking about mothering and (elderly) women's resistance. Such modes acknowledge these women's undeniable contribution to activism and to doing gender and politics across borders, beyond patriarchal motherhood, familial kinship ties, Western-centric co-optive voices and hierarchical framings, and in direct opposition to authoritarian spatiotemporal nation-building myths and impositions. BACKGROUND: Healthcare organizations are among high-risk organizations due to the nature of their work as well as structural, physical and technological complexities. Accordingly, it is important to use risk management and control programs in all departments of these organizations. OBJECTIVE: The present study was conducted for the first time to evaluate the risk management status of the operating room and laboratory departments of Hamadan hospitals in 2022. METHODS: In this descriptive-observational cross-sectional study, laboratory and operating room departments were selected as the research environment. To conduct this research, a valid and reliable questionnaire was used to collect data, and the data were analyzed using SPSS 22 statistical software. RESULTS: The findings of the present study showed that the overall mean score of risk management status for the laboratory and operating room departments was 2.66 ± 0.15 and 2.89 ± 0.13, respectively. Furthermore, there was no statistically significant difference in the mean scores of the research components based on work experience, education level, and gender. CONCLUSION: It is suggested that the laboratory and operating room departments should focus more on adopting policies and solutions to improve the position of risk management, training and budget allocation for risk management. Background: The mismatch between the gender experienced by a person and the gender attributed to him/her leads to gender dysphoria. It seems that people's perception of gender dysphoria is affected by individual, cultural, and sociological factors and these factors affect different aspects of their biological, psychological, and social health. To this end, this qualitative study aimed to identify the physical, psychological, and social challenges of people with gender dysphoria referring to the Department of forensic medicine in Iran. Methods: This qualitative study was conducted using conventional content analysis on 9 individuals who were selected through purposive sampling. A total of 16 interviews were conducted with 9 participants. Each interview lasted 60–90 min. The participants' gender dysphoria was confirmed by the Department of forensic medicine. The data were collected through face-to-face semi-structured interviews with the participants. Results: The data revealed 3 main categories and 10 subcategories. The main categories were living in agony, confusion, and social concerns. The subcategories were annoying physical characteristics, mental suffering, disturbing sexual changes, concerns about public reaction, helplessness, surrender, the final solution, retreating to isolation, stressful family conditions, and lack of public recognition. Conclusion: The findings showed that people with gender dysphoria suffer from some problems including living in agony, confusion, and social concerns. Each of these problems is associated with several challenges. It seems that most of the challenges faced by people with gender dysphoria are caused by unawareness of their conditions by the family and the public, which in turn is caused by the failure of related organizations and experts in this field to provide adequate information about the conditions of these people. Measuring health inequalities is essential to inform policy making and for monitoring implementation to reduce avoidable and unfair differences in health status. We conducted a geospatial analysis of child mortality in Iran using death records from the Ministry of Health and Medical Education from 2016 to 2018 stratified by sex, age, province, and district, and household expenditure and income survey data from the Statistical Center of Iran collected in 2017. We applied multilevel mixed-effect models and detected significant inequality in child mortality and the impact of socioeconomic factors, especially household income. We advocate for using mortality rate for young children (< 5 years old) as an indicator for assessing the impact of interventions to reduce inequalities among various socioeconomic groups. Introduction: Angiography stands as the paramount and definitive diagnostic method for coronary artery disease. However, akin to various other invasive procedures, it may carry a multitude of complications. This study sought to assess the incidence of vascular complications post-arterial sheath removal, comparing the use of a ClampEase device against manual compression. Methods: This quasi-experimental clinical trial involved patients undergoing angiography at the post-angiography ward in Isfahan, Iran. A total of 91 patients were selected through convenience sampling and randomly assigned to either the manual compression or ClampEase device groups. Monitoring common vascular complications like hemorrhage, hematomas, and ecchymosis occurred up to 24 hours post-arterial sheath removal. Data were collected using a digital scale model DM3, a transparent flexible ruler, and a questionnaire named 'vascular complications after angiography.' Analysis was performed using SPSS software version 13. Results: Statistical analysis revealed that, when compared to the manual method, compression with the ClampEase device led to fewer vascular complications in patients and a quicker return to homeostasis. Conclusion: The findings underscore that the ClampEase method is a safer alternative with fewer vascular complications than the manual compression method. This discovery has implications for reducing hospital costs and length of stay. Background: Domestic violence against women is one of the most important issues in the field of women's problems. Identification of the demographic and social characteristics of risk and protective factors can be effective in managing this problem. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the demographic and social variables that affect the rate of different types of domestic violence against women. Methods: The present study was done using a quantitative method and survey technique. In so doing, 379 married women of reproductive age in Sadra City were surveyed. This survey used the multi-stage cluster sampling method and standard questionnaire. SPSS version 20 was used to analyze the collected data. Results: Most respondents (53.6%) were between 30 and 39 years old, and the age of the majority of their wives (48%) was in the same age range. Economic violence was significantly lower among the upper-middle class (P = 0.010), middle class (P = 0.000), and lower middle class (P = 0.002) compared to the lower class. This type of violence is less common among Arabs (P = 0.001) and more prevalent among Turks (P = 0.034) than among Persian speakers. Women whose husbands were illiterate (P = 0.005), had only completed middle school (P = 0.002) or held a diploma (P = 0.040) experienced more psychological violence compared to women whose husbands had a university education. Psychological violence is more prevalent among lower-class women compared to women from the middle class (P = 0.002), upper-middle class (P = 0.020), and lower-middle class (P = 0.003). Physical violence is more common among Persian women compared to Arab women (P = 0.003) but less common compared to Turkish women (P = 0.019). Sexual violence is less common among Persian women compared to Arab women (P = 0.003). Conclusions: This study highlighted the prevalence of various forms of domestic violence. Socio-demographic factors significantly influenced these occurrences.
