The present research has been carried out concurrently with the conversation that took place on the social network TikTok during the most recent escalation of the war between Hamas and Israel in the Middle East (Gaza-Palestine) during the month of October 2023. The main objective of this article is to analyze of how young audiences are informed about complex problems, the quality of that information, and the consequences of the intensification of uncontrolled hate speech. Regarding the methodology, data were extracted from TikTok using the open-source tool tiktok-hashtag-analysis—hosted on GitHub—which facilitated the analysis of hashtags within the posts collected from this social network, starting with an initial sample of 17,654 comments. The article draws and reaches conclusions related to the fact that young audiences indeed are interested in the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, as it is evident that the conversation—which is polarized—on TikTok about this issue has escalated considerably. Similarly, analysis of the extracted and filtered sample shows that the variable "hate speech" intensified on the platform during the analyzed conversation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The confrontation between Israel and Palestine that has been continuing during many decades is embodied nowadays not only in incessant military activities, but also in the media. Those ones protecting Palestine serve as sources of aggressive propaganda that incite irreconcilable hatred toward opponents. Correspondingly, with permanent attacks against Israel the above media insistently use a specifically colored lexis that escalates the tense situation in this region. This article purposefully envisages the “topic of hatred” promoted by the Palestinian print media as an active actor of modern political transformation in the Middle East. Investigating principles of functioning these media provides with better understanding of contemporary authoritarian society and raises the question of the media dependence on the political guidelines of Palestinian authorities. The Joseph story in Genesis 37-50 is a homogeneous literary narrative, although it consists of various sources (J, E, P). The key to understanding the narrative is the statement at the beginning of the story about the special relationship of Jacob's (Israel's) father to his younger son Joseph and the negative reaction of Joseph's brothers to his advantage over them: »Now Israel loved ('āhab) Joseph more than any of his other sons/.../And when his brothers saw that their father loved him (kî-'ōtô 'āhab 'ăbîhem) more than all his brothers they hated him (wayyiśně'û 'ōtô)/.../« (Gen 37:3-4). The article is based on a semantic and literary analysis of the structure of the narrative, which stands out for its contrasts. In revealing the literary manner of demonstrating the work of characters in their positive or negative role, we find out how much the characters act under the influence of their own desires, passions or ideals and how much their presentation is under the influence of a higher plan of history in a broader perspective of biblical theology and ethics. As stated in Israel's Declaration of Independence, " ... we ... declare the establishment of a Jewish State in Eretz Israel, to be known as the State of Israel."[38] That Israel is to be a Jewish state was previously incorporated in the November 29, 1947, UN General Assembly Resolution 181, where it is explicitly termed "the Jewish State." Concern for Israel In contrast to the previously discussed sinister sources of the portrayal of America's Jews as detaching from Israel, there are motives that derive from a deep affiliation with and concern for both American and Israeli Jews. To the extent that American Jews are familiar with the Nation-State Law, it may be assumed that even as there are many who are disturbed by it,[44] it is doubtful that it will have a significant impact on the ties to Israel of the overwhelming majority of American Jews who continue to view and favor Israel as a Jewish state. Judaism is often presented from the outside as a religion of commands, prohibitions and justice demanding an „eye for an eye". However, Judaism is above all a religion of love. Love („ahava") in this tradition is inseparable from the concept of holiness, justice and mercy. Love is to be demonstrated by man on three basic levels: (1) love for God; (2) love of neighbor; (3) love for the newcomers who settled in Israel as guests. Fulfilling or not fulfilling the commands and prohibitions of the Torah results from the existence or non-existence of this love. Neither love nor hatred is enjoined by the Torah towards enemies, but God requires help in times of need for them. Love in the rabbinical concept combines an emphasis on various dimensions of knowledge (from all levels of knowledge - studying the Torah and the mitzvot mentioned therein to a fulfilled loving relationship with a woman) and the will to a certain type of action resulting from this, which builds mutual relationships. Before the state of Israel endorses the prospect of coexistence with its Palestinian neighbors, one must bear in mind that coexistence is well-nigh impossible when the efforts undertaken to achieve it remain one-sided: coexistence cannot be a unilateral affair. The refusal on the part of Palestinians to condemn violence and cold-blooded murder of Jews attests to the fact that the call for coexistence is just a means of masking hatred of Israel and facilitating the process of gaining statehood. In addition, continued refusal to recognize Israel as a Jewish state by Islamic nations in general and the Palestinian Authority in particular solidify one's suspicion about the real motive of Palestinians. This article examines the tension between liberalism and Orthodoxy in Israel as it relates to censorship. The first section aims to explain Israel's vulnerability as a multicultural democracy in a hostile region, with significant schisms that divide the nation. The next section presents the dilemma: should Israel employ legal mechanisms to counter hate speech and racism? The third section details the legal framework, while the fourth reviews recent cases in which political radicals were prosecuted for incitement to racism. The final section discusses cases in which football supporters were charged with incitement after chanting "Death to Arabs" during matches. I argue that the state should consider the costs and risks of allowing hate speech and balance these against the costs and risks to democracy and free speech that are associated with censorship. The article focuses on anti-Semitic public expressions of hatred against Jews in line with the Holocaust. There can be little doubt that the stigma of being called a Nazi is real. But the term Nazi, like the word Holocaust, has been appropriated by nearly every group wishing to call attention to its own plight. It is the notion of opinion leadership that is at the base of the idea of community relations that is a large part of the work of organizations such as The American Jewish Committee. It is this notion that has shaped the belief that the most effective kind of community relations is what has come to be called retail or person-to-person and face-to-face, community relations.

Using data from 696 Israeli LGBQ individuals aged 13-30, this study explored the negative (mental distress) and positive changes (well-being and stress-related growth) following the deadliest anti-LGBQ hate crime in Israel to date (the Bar-Noar Massacre ), while examining differences in these outcomes between those who did and did not know hate crime victims. Furthermore, the mediating role of emotional support in facilitating better mental health and stress-related growth was tested. Results suggested that compared to those who did not know any victims, those who personally knew the victims sought emotional support from more sources, had higher scores of mental distress, but also of well-being and stress-related growth. Emotional support indeed mediated the relationship between familiarity with hate crime victims and better mental health and higher levels of growth. Increasing access to emotional support may be particularly helpful in addressing the needs of LGBQ young adults following an anti-LGBQ hate crime.
