This study contributes to the knowledge of airline service quality in Turkey. The aim is to investigate the relationship between service quality and intention to recommend in the context of competitive strategies. For this purpose, a survey study under fuzzy environment is performed in Istanbul, Turkey. After comparing service quality and intention to recommend in full-service and low-cost airlines, a binary logistic regression model is constructed to reveal the factors that are important for intention to recommend. The results show that low-cost airlines in Turkey have substantially lower service quality scores and intention to recommend. Furthermore, the model points out empathy, tangibles, and responsiveness as the significant quality dimensions for intention to recommend. However, reliability and assurance dimensions have been found insignificant along with all control variables of age, gender, travel type, travel frequency, travel purpose, airline company, income level, and education level. The aim of this study to examine whether there is a significant difference between primary school students’ perceptions of family relationships and their peer bullying attitudes. “Peer Bullying Determination Scale” and “Family Relations Scale for Children” have been used to analize 147 students from 4th, 5th and 6th grades of a private primary school in İstanbul and the results were interpreted by t test and a regression analysis. Analysis of the results showed that the family relations perceptions of the students might vary according to the gender and grades level. Bayesian Networks (BNs) are a useful graphical probabilistic structure for visualizing and understanding the dependencies of random variables. In this study, July 15 coup attempts' effects on Turkish Financial Market are analyzed with the BN approach. To this end, 31 Istanbul Stock Exchange (BIST) return indexes and seven foreign exchange rates (CNY, EUR, GBP, JPY, SAR, RUB, and USD) from year-to-September 30th of 2016 are examined. BN structure is learned (predict) via Greedy Thick Thinning algorithm with K2 prior from the dataset and is expertized. BN model is validated and trained from real dataset instead of generated data from the established model. The BN is called Trained Bayesian Network (TBN) model. TBN is validated and the beliefs of TBN are updated again by dataset via learning parameters with Expectation Maximization (EM) algorithm. BNs have not before been used to relate the presence/absence of BIST return indexes with foreign exchange rates. Accuracy rate (AUC) of the TBN model to generating the real data is calculated as 85.5% percent. TBN model has simplified the Market relations with conditional probability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: Oral mucosal lesions may represent acute or chronic reactions to factors related with dentures. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of the oral lesions related to gender, age, the length of time of denture usage, the balance of denture and cleaning methods and frequency. The 106 patients who have old complete dentures came to the Dental Faculty of Marmara University, Istanbul (Turkey) to have new complete dentures were asked to participate in the investigation. The subjects (51 men and 55 women) were 37–80 years of age with a mean age of 60.28±10.52 years. All main factors were estimated in subgroups: cleaning methods and frequency were divided into 3 subgroups respectively as toothbrush and toothpaste/soap, denture cleansing tablets and sodium carbonate, and 3 times a day, everyday, every 3 day and once a week. The data obtained was evaluated by One-way ANOVA, Mann–Whitney U-test, Kruskal–Wallis-test, Student t-test and χ 2-test. The level of statistical significance was set at p <0.05. The patients displayed statistically significant differences in the topics of the length of time of denture usage and the balance of denture in terms of retention. The complete denture wearers should be educated in the importance of periodic examination due to the changing of supporting tissues for detection early mucosal lesions to maintain their oral and dentures hygiene in optimum level. No detailed data exist in the literature on the accurate diagnosis of chronic brucellar meningitis or meningoencephalitis. A multicentre retrospective chart review was performed at 19 health centres to determine sensitivities of the diagnostic tests. This study included 177 patients. The mean values of CSF biochemical test results were as follows: CSF protein, 330.64 ± 493.28 mg/dL; CSF/ blood-glucose ratio, 0.35 ± 0.16; CSF sodium, 140.61 ± 8.14 mMt; CSF leucocyte count, 215.99 ± 306.87. The sensitivities of the tests were as follows: serum standard tube agglutination ( STA), 94%; cerebrospinal fluid ( CSF) STA, 78%; serum Rose Bengal test ( RBT), 96%; CSF RBT, 71%; automated blood culture, 37%; automated CSF culture, 25%; conventional CSF culture, 9%. The clinician should use every possible means to diagnose chronic neurobrucellosis. The high seropositivitiy in brucellar blood tests must facilitate the use of blood serology. Although STA should be preferred over RBT in CSF in probable neurobrucellosis other than the acute form of the disease, RBT is not as weak as expected.
