This research aims to study in depth the phenomena if immigrant juvenile offenders within the context of Europe. It consists of two very distinct phases: PHASE I: We show the most important social and legal aspects related with the foreign juvenile offenders in Spain, Germany, France and Italy. Furthermore, special attention will be paid to the analysis if minors who are the children of immigrants, who were born and have been brought up within the host society, their society, but who mist deal with situations of discrimination and social disadvantage. PHASE II: This phase undertakes a retrospective study of crime recorded in the Juvenile Courts of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country from January 2001 to December 2005. The analysis of the sentencing in those cases will enable us to form a comprehensive view of the crime profile of the immigrant juvenile offender in this area of Spain, which may be comparable with other European regions.
