In a cinematic era where audiovisual production trascends the film industry boundaries, expanding and reshaping itself in multiple amateur configurations, the authorial role undergoes profound trasformations due to the theoretical focus shift from medial products to the audiovisual practices and processes. Within such framework, in parallel with mainstream and star authorships, the amateur author interacts with a dynamic and intermedia environment that allows the proliferation of narrative possibilities, along the path from vernacular and home modes up to Instagram stories and reels. The amateur authorship therefore becomes a privileged setting to develop and evolve the long tradition of the selfportrait into participatory and user-generated audiovisual forms, whose resemantization contributes to reformulate the methodological and operative connection between amateur and author. Based on these premises, the essay aims to investigate and describe the amateur audiovisual authorship, to specifically dwell on peculiar self-representative manifestations. According to such purpose, two Italian case studies will be analyzed, Italy in a Day and Fuori era primavera —Viaggio nell'Italia del Lockdown, both particularly emblematic as productive outcomes of the interaction between the director as author (at the service of the mise-en-scène?) and prosumers' participatory and performative creativity, with the purpose of questioning the role and function (even the existence?) of an amateur authorship in the contemporary audiovisual scenario. Facebook identity management implies a selective front and backstage: users perform multiple social roles for a multiple spectator audience (boyd 2008). But as friend lists increase and the discussion about sensitive topics becomes more critical, people tend to protect their image by dealing only with content that may be interesting to all their contacts (Hogan, 2010). Starting from field research on Italian users (40 in-depth interviews with Facebook users aged 14-55), this paper discusses the idea of Facebook as a place where people are engaged in building their social relations and their self-representation by managing their online presence in a way that can be both intriguing and acceptable for most of their contacts. The paper will highlight the strategies of content homogenization and the online behavior adopted by users according to their perceptions of their «imagined audience» (Litt, 2012). The article aims at underlining that Facebook use is surprisingly consistent with mass-media and generalist-media cultural models: users seem to apply models of television spectatoriality, not only in terms of passivity (lurking), but also in terms of consumption (skipping uninteresting content) and content production performed for a generalist audience (developing a distinctive and acceptable style of interaction). This article explores the potential of mobile learning in adult education with a particular focus on identity formation and self-representation. It draws on the mobile learning experiences implemented within MyMobile-Education on the move, a European project (2010-2012) whose main purpose was to develop guidelines for mobile learning in adult education. This was achieved through a series of national workshops aimed at testing the use of mobile devices as cultural and learning resources for identity (trans)formation by and social empowerment of adults. In this context, the article addresses two particular cases: workshops conducted in Italy and Britain. It begins with a discussion of the concepts of adult education in relation to mobile learning and identity formation, and then moves to an analytical description of the workshops, exploring participants' self-perceptions and productions. Based on this exploration, it concludes with a reflection on the extent to which adult learners' participation in the mobile learning experiences that the project designed for them supported the formation and development of their identities; it also offers some recommendations for future research in the field.
