The article discusses challenges presented by East-West intercultural marriage. It is stated that all marriages are intercultural as every family has its own unique culture, own pattern of beliefs, values and behaviours and every couple has to negotiate differing attitudes to gender roles, child rearing, money and other matters. It also discusses key differences between Japanese and Western approaches to intercultural marriage
