Macrofungal explorations conducted in several Sal (Shorea robusta)-dominated tropical forests in West Bengal and Jharkhand, India, unveiled a noteworthy and previously unknown member of Amanita sect. Vaginatae, here proposed as Amanita indovaginata. This newly discovered species is substantiated by both morphological characteristics and sequence data from three genes (ITS, LSU, and tef 1-α).
