Researchers at Kaohsiung Medical University in Taiwan have developed a novel method using magnetic isolation and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) to detect the methylation levels of tumor suppressor gene promoters. This method shows promise for early cancer diagnosis through noninvasive liquid biopsies. The research, supported by various institutions, concluded that the technique accurately measures methylation levels in DNA mixtures, with a detection limit of 0.05 µm.
