In this article the author describes his experiences in Kathmandu, Nepal, during the 2006 unrest directed at the authoritarian rule of King Gyanendra. The King oversaw some years of misrule, which culminated is mass demonstrations that resulted in beatings and shootings on the part of the police and army. The author describes the streets of Kathmandu, deserted because of a government ordered daylight curfew, a ban broken by the British ambassador.
