This article presents a bibliometric analysis of therapeutic advances research in Peyronie's Disease over the past 62 years. Peyronie's Disease is an acquired penile malformation caused by the deposition of fibrotic plaques in the tunica albuginea. The study found that there is a scarcity of reports on this pathology, which hinders the comparison of research in different parts of the world. The United States leads in the number of publications on the topic, while there is little research in Latin America. It is concluded that it is important to increase scientific production in Colombia and stimulate research on the surgical treatment of this disease. [Extracted from the article]

[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BIBLIOMETRICS , *LEGAL psychology , *LAW periodicals , *COOPERATIVE research , *FORENSIC psychology , *AUTHORSHIP collaboration , *LEGAL testimony - Abstract
The present study carries out a bibliometric analysis of Annual Review of Legal Psychology from 1991 to 2019. Data were collected from a database that allows for the analysis of authors, institutions, countries, gender, topics, and impact. The results enable us to observe gender discrepancies among authors, with a a higher frequency of women (50.2%), and the number of signatures (53.7% men). Over the years there is an increase in the number of authors and signatures, of co-authorship, a higher presence of international signatures, representing 23.5% between 2011 and 2019. Three collaboration groups were identified, two from Spain and one from Colombia. Categories of Legal and Forensic Psychology and Psychological Evaluation and Testimony are the most represented in the published studies. It is possible to conclude that Annual Review of Legal Psychology is a referent in its field, especially for authors and practitioners from Latin-American countries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SCIENTIFIC knowledge , *INTERDISCIPLINARY research , *SCIENCE periodicals , *LOTKA'S law (Bibliometrics) , *COOPERATIVE research , *BIBLIOGRAPHIC databases , *BIBLIOMETRICS - Abstract
Scientific journals constitute the main channels of the dissemination of scientific knowledge. For this reason, in recent years, the amount of bibliometric studies aiming to elucidate the main features of published articles has increased. This allows for the understanding of investigated topics, contribution and collaboration among authors, institutions and countries involved, as well as the identification of new trends of research. In the field of psychology, the journals with the greatest impact are edited and managed in Anglo-American and Western European countries. Within the Latin American context however, there are also significant editorial efforts to publish relevant articles as in the case of Interdisciplinaria: Revista de Psicología y Ciencias Afines, considered a mainstream scientific journal that is indexed in important bibliographic databases (Scopus, WoS- Scielo Citation Index, Scielo) which have maintained the journal’s validity for more than 35 years. The importance of Interdisciplinaria motivates novel research into the characteristics of the scientific articles it publishes. Therefore, this study carries out a bibliometric analysis of Interdisciplinaria, considering the publications indexed in the bibliographic database Scopus (2009-2017). First the history, current status of the journal, and the importance of the bibliometric studies are presented. Then, the process of identification, selection and registration of scientific articles published and indexed in Scopus is formally addressed. From a final sample of 173 articles, the documents were broken down according to the authors’ gender and the language of the publication. Moreover, the compliance with Lotka’s Law on the scientific production of the authors was evaluated. Also, the collaboration rates (Lawani, 1981, 1986; Subramanyam, 1983) were estimated and the collaborative relationships among countries of the authors’ affiliations were displayed. Hence, the sampled works were categorized according to thematic areas and research methodologies. The results reveal a greater presence of women than men, both in the first authorship and in the total authors. Thus the author distribution complies with Lotka’s Law. In particular, it is noted that few authors have the highest number of contributions, while many authors have the least number of contributions. With regard to collaborative work, a substantial increase appeared in the last two triennia (2012-2014 and 2015-2017). This is evident by computing the values of the Lawani and Subramanyam rates. Furthermore, the works are concentrated in areas such as educational psychology, methodology, and psychometry among others (e.g. neuropsychology, comparative psychology, environmental psychology). Finally, it was noted that contributions on quantitative methodology predominated, followed by theoretical studies. The analysis and discussion of the results allow Inter disciplinaria to be used as a reference in the communication of scientific knowledge in Latin America countries, concluding that its denomination as a journal of psychology and related sciences is fairly attributed, since it publishes studies from different fields, a number of which show the connection between psychology and other disciplines. AUTHORSHIP collaboration , *PETROLEUM technology , *UNIVERSITIES & colleges - Abstract
The main objective of this work is to determine the collaboration level of Latin American universities with companies in terms of scientific co-authorship, and to identify the main institutions involved in these collaborations. To do this, all publications from 2009 to 2018 with at least one co-author belonging to each of 20 Latin American countries, and another co-author affiliated to a company, were extracted from Elsevier’s Scival (powered by Scopus data), obtaining a set of 22,469 records, from which 1,531 companies (both of public and private nature) and 428 Latin American universities were identified. Despite publications co-authored by universities and companies are highly-cited, results evidence low percentages of academic collaboration between Latin American universities and companies over the period. Just few firms (mainly from Pharmacy, Technology and Petroleum markets) have established strong connections with few universities, mainly from Brazil, whose performance masks the remaining minor linkages established in other countries. Otherwise, the presence of publicly-traded companies (e.g., Petrobras, Agrosavia, Embrapa, YPF or Petróleos Mexicanos) is also remarkable. The establishment of stable public policies aimed at promoting and strengthening University-Industry relations in the region, and based on the integration and regulation of these actions in the researcher's activities, is recommended. BIBLIOMETRICS , *CHILD abuse , *CHILD sexual abuse , *CONCEPTUAL structures , *MEDICAL research , *THEMATIC analysis - Abstract
Introduction: Child sexual abuse (CSA) is an endemic threat to health. Although research on the subject has advanced considerably, there are few studies that have considered the perspectives of the region. Objective: This study sought to analyze the research trends of CSA in Latin America and the Caribbean, emphasizing on its productivity as well as the evolution of the conceptual structure. Method: For this study, a longitudinal bibliometric mapping of co-words in articles indexed in the Web of Science was conducted utilizing SciMAT. Results: Findings revealed an increase in the volume and impact of the articles published on this topic. The core corresponds to 35 articles, mostly quantitative, and published as part of international collaborations. The conceptual structure of the field addresses 19 topics with Maltreatment and Child Sexual Abuse; Risk Factors; and Family and Experiences considered as key themes; whereas Street Children and Emotional Abuse could be considered an emerging topic. Conclusions: Findings suggest that although research focusing on CSA has been continuous and steady, a process of diversification on the topics of study within this field is emerging. Lastly, the scientific community could use the research findings to identify thematic areas of interest. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

INTIMATE partner violence , *EMOTIONAL competence , *TEENAGERS , *QUANTITATIVE research , *BEHAVIOR - Abstract
Indexed publications (2016-2018) about Latin-American adolescents' aggressive behaviour via Internet were examined. It was a retrospective, bibliometric and descriptive analysis. The search was carried out in September 2018 on the Scopus, Redalyc, Scielo and Lilacs databases. Out of 8856 abstracts, 17 articles which met the inclusion criteria were analysed: published in Spanish, Portuguese and English, whose authors were Latin American or empirically analyzed samples of adolescents residing in Latin America. A growing production in the period analysed, particularly in instrumental and quantitative studies, was observed. The co-authorship was with inter-institutional collaboration. The greatest number of studies was found in Mexico, Colombia and Brazil. No validated tests to measure cyberbullying in the north of Argentina were found. Associated psychopathological variables, such as suicidal behaviour, maladaptive schemas and intimate partner violence, were identified. Salutogenic variables, such as coping strategies and emotional competence, were linked. The scientific evidence showed the lack of studies on the subject. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The documents published in the electronic records of KM Brasil, corresponding to the thirteen editions of the event, from 2002 to 2016, are analyzed with a focus on sustainability. The objective is to identify the breadth of the sustainability theme, the authorship profile and the thematic diversity, within the framework of the discussions related to knowledge management, from the historical basis of KM Brazil, the biggest event of the theme in Latin America. The theoretical foundation presents a brief characterization about knowledge management and sustainability. The descriptive study is characterized by a quantitative-qualitative approach, using bibliometric techniques, mainly through descriptive statistics, complemented by a content analysis. The quantitative analysis initially covered 605 documents, focusing later on the 18 articles that presented the theme sustainability in the title and / or keywords, and the qualitative analysis is restricted to these 18 articles. Among the results, we highlight the occurrence of 54 authors who published on the subject of sustainability, with prevalence of authorship of the masculine gender, collective, with academic link and performance in the public sector; in addition to 42 subjects and 18 foci related to sustainability and knowledge management. It is concluded that, despite the large number of participants in the business market, there is a considerable predominance of the academy in the studies on sustainability, and that the number of 18 documents on sustainability is not very representative in relation to the total of the 605 publications that make part of the historical basis of KM Brazil. This article seeks to bring together in a single document the set of issues surrounding the definition and implementation of mechanisms and criteria relating to the evaluation of scientific research. It revisits and orders the basic agreements regarding their defects and the proposals for countering them based on a bibliographical review revolving around three questions: who participates in the assessment; how the assessment is carried out; and what is to be evaluated. Finally, it briefly presents some notes referring to the specific literature generated from Latin America, highlighting the limited space dedicated to this topic until now. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article presents the results of a bibliometric study of internal and external consumption and co-authorship of articles written by Colombians between 1969 and 2008, in order to provide empirical evidence of the role played by the Revista Latinoamericana de Psicología in the development of the psychological science community in Colombia. Results suggest that despite the publication's scientific and editorial excellence, it had little involvement in the development of local psychological science communities. The article expresses some concerns regarding the agenda for the internationalization of science promoted by the Colombian National System of Science and Technology, in which publications such as the Revista Latinoamericana de Psicología are taken as models. In January 2007, the Chilean Journal of Agricultural Research was indexed by the Institute of Scientific Information (ISI). This paper reviews the research that has been published since 2007 by using records extracted from the Web of Science database. The papers published were mostly affiliated to researchers from Chile, and six out of the ten most-contributing countries were from Latin America. The analysis by institutions showed Universidad de Concepcion as the most prolific, although this result is not valid. A lack of standardization in the manner the Instituto de Investigaciones Agropecuarias (INIA) subscribed its address on each paper caused a disaggregation of the information. This was proven by the manual duration of each record that was affiliated to any of the centers belonging to INIA. The journal has a serf-citation rate of 19.3%, value that is relatively high if compared to other journals from the same subject category listed on The Journal Citation Reports 2010. Finally, this work should be considered a bibliometric snapshot of the current situation of the journal that will serve as a benchmark when new evaluations are made in a few-years time. Objective: Characterize the output of scientific literature in Latin America between 2000 and 2007 with respect to physical therapy/kinesiology. Method: The authors conducted a retrospective study of 1,700 articles on physical therapy/kinesiology published in the SciELO and LILLACS databases. The variables studied were: document frequency, number of documents found, scientific output per country, scientific output for each describer with respect to physical therapy/kinesiology, number of authors, institutional affiliation, type of publication, language, type of study, and number of works listed in the bibliography. Results: The trend in scientific output per country shows Brazil leads in Latin America, with 70.1% of the scientific output on physical therapy/kinesiology, followed by Chile with 13.4 %, Colombia and Venezuela with 6 %, Argentina with 3.4 %, and Cuba and Peru with less than 1% of the output. Conclusions: Although bibliometric studies in only one field of knowledge do not resolve the need to measure scientific activity, they provide clarity and guide research work. Knowing what studies on physical therapy/kinesiology have been done in the region will enable academics to generate a Latin American research policy that is of benefit to the profession, the community and the context. The Latin American Journal of Psychology (RLP) was founded in 1969. In this article we present the historical context of psychology in Latin America when RLP was founded. An analysis of the main editorial characteristics is presented, including editorial board, peer review, financial aspects and distribution, structure, special volumes, types of articles published, authors' origin, and areas of psychology. The influence of RLP on the development of other journals in Latin America and Spain is examined. The role of RLP on the development of psychology in these regions is also discussed. It is argued that RLP has been one of the main editorial enterprises dedicated to the presentation of research production in psychology in Latin America, and has introduced several areas of psychology, unknown to the academic communities in the region. The evaluation of scientific production in Latin America has had several eras being the numerical impact factor (FIN) the one that became the most popular one in recent years; unfortunately, the FIN measures journal popularity more than journal prestige. Thus, a lot of idiomatic, mathematical and scientific biases prevent the use of the FIN as a Latin American bibliometric measurement. New scienciometric methods such as webometrics and the like developed in more scientific way that than obtained by the Institute of Scientific Information must be considered from now on. It includes the Page Rank and the Y Factor both of which seem to give more consistent results than those obtained with the FIN. Due to this, it is mandatory to continue the analysis and, hopefully, to get a re-evaluation of the FIN as an universal scienciometric measure, mostly in Spanish-speaking countries as it has already been advanced in some academic and scientific circles of the so-called first world.
