The article presents the text of the speech by François Robert in accepting his Silver Medal for 2011 from the Society of Economic Geologists delivered on September 24, 2012 at Westin Lima Hotel and Convention Center in Lima, Peru. He claims that he has still a long way to go in accomplishing his goal as an economic geologist and that the award is an indication that he is in the right direction to becoming an accomplished economic geologist.
