Women's situation in Portugal, Lithuania, Belgium, and the Netherlands is examined. We focus on women's possibilities to enter and succeed in the labour market together with their established locations in the private space, when phenomena such as job scarcity, among others, put at risk significant parts of the world population, mostly women. We build on discussion with a group of women of these nationalities about female situation in different fields of social life in their countries. Countries' similarities and differences are emphasised, which interrelate to their locations in the European Union. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
