The article discusses the study on the role of fragmented forest habitat in generating ecosystem services in a human-dominated agricultural landscape and the loss of forest habitats on the ecosystem services in southern Madagascar. The authors addressed two ecosystem services dependent on the forest habitats such as the crop pollination services by wild and semi-domesticated bees and the seed dispersal services based on the presence of ring-tailed lemurs. The results of the study showed that, the fraction of the landscape presently the taboo system contributes to supporting the generation of these services by protecting the forest patches.
