A recent study conducted at the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine, has found that the Nrf2 activator astaxanthin and the mTORC1 inhibitor meclizine can extend the lifespan of male mice by 12% and 8% respectively. However, these effects were not significant in females. The study also tested five other agents, including fisetin and dimethyl fumarate, but found no significant lifespan effects. The researchers suggest that these findings may provide insights into sex-specific aspects of aging.
