In an era marked by increasing environmental concerns, this study investigates the impact of corporate social responsibility (CSR), transformational leadership (TL), and green organizational culture (GOC) on the environmental performance of the Malaysian manufacturing sector. Utilizing the resource-based view and ability-motivation-opportunity theory, this study explores GOC's mediating role between CSR, TL, and environmental outcomes, offering insights into enhancing sustainability in manufacturing. Through a survey of 375 Malaysian manufacturing professionals from October 2022 to January 2023 and using Structural Equation Modeling for analysis, the research confirms that CSR, TL, and GOC significantly enhance environmental performance. It highlights the critical role of transformational leadership in driving sustainability efforts and the positive influence of a green culture. This study contributes practical strategies for managers and policymakers to merge leadership, culture, and social responsibility in promoting environmental sustainability. Emphasizing the benefits for the Malaysian economy, it advocates for manufacturing firms to incorporate these findings into their CSR strategies, fostering a culture and leadership conducive to superior environmental results. This article explores relationships between media power and older people in Western and non-Western settings, utilising the examples of Australia and Malaysia. Drawing on Fairclough's three-dimensional critical discourse analysis and a dataset of articles from Australian and Malaysian newspapers, it reveals that despite differences in journalistic practices in the two countries there is a common thread of disparate representation of voices of older people and elites in news about older people. This demonstrates the exercise of power by journalists – and the influence of broader media and socio-political environments – in sustaining and reproducing social inequalities, including opportunities for people to have their stories and issues portrayed fairly and accurately. While the lack of critical engagement by Malaysian journalists can be linked to social norms and ideas of Asian-based development journalism, the absence of critical engagement from the Australian news media can be seen as conflicting with their Fourth Estate watchdog role. Malaysia reported its first COVID-19 case on January 25, 2020, and the cases have continued to grow, necessitating the implementation of additional measures. Hence, determining the factors responsible for the significant increase in COVID-19 cases is the top priority issue for the government to take necessary action and ultimately restrain this virus before the vaccine availability. Researchers had predicted that air pollution had an indirect relationship with COVID-19 in terms of virus infections. As a result, this study focuses on the link between the Air Pollutant Index (API) and COVID-19 infections. The initial data set consists of daily confirmed COVID-19 cases in Malaysia and API readings obtained from the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Department of the Environment (DOE). The results show that Klang (S22) recorded the highest mean of API which at 62.70 while the lowest is at Limbang (S37) (25.37). Next, due to the implementation of Movement Control Order (MCO) in Malaysia and reducing social movement, 27 stations recorded a good level of API compare to the stations that recorded moderate and unhealthy levels. There is positive relationship between API and COVID-19 at each of the region which are North 0.4% (R²=0.004), Central 2.1% (R²=0.021), South 0.04% (R²=0.0004), East 1.6% (R2=0.016), Sarawak 0.2% (R²=0.002), meanwhile Sabah recorded negative correlation at 4.3% (R2=0.043). This article builds on a research project examining news values, journalistic practices, and media power in Australia and Malaysia. These two countries differ from each other in socio-cultural, religious, regional, political perspectives, and journalistic practices but share the presence of indigenous people, appreciation for multiculturalism, and increasing numbers of older people. The comparison of journalistic practices -- Asian-based development journalism and Western journalism practices -- along with other differences, especially socio-cultural values, provides the rationale for the selection of these two countries. The study draws on Fairclough's three-dimensional critical discourse analysis and Caple and Bednarek's discursive news values analysis to explore the discursive practices of journalists in providing voices and prioritising different actors in news stories. 99 news articles from 8 mainstream Australian newspapers -- The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian, The Advertiser, The Daily Telegraph, The Courier-Mail, The Herald Sun, and The Canberra Times -- and 5 English-language Malaysian newspapers -- New Straits Times, The Malay Mail, The Star, The Borneo Tost, and The Sun -- published between January 2011 and December 2013 are selected as the dataset in this study. The study finds that reference to elite persons remains a uniform news value in both Australian and Malaysian newspapers, indicating the role of journalists in reflecting and reinforcing the status quo, and the imbalance of power in society. This dominant news value amongst journalists tends to silence those who are not conceived as newsworthy or seen as less newsworthy, such as older people. While the dominance of elites can be linked to social norms in Malaysia that prevent challenges to the social hierarchy and the maintenance of a high regard for people in authority such as political leaders, the discursive practices of Australian journalists do not align with their role to provide a uniform forum for the exchange of ideas, as elderly Australians are given limited opportunities to be active participants. The study investigates the impact of insurance activities on economic growth in Malaysia over the period 1990–2015. Combined cointegration in the presence of identified structural breaks was used to confirm the existence of long‐run relationships among economic growth, insurance activities, human capital, physical capital, and industrial production. The findings indicate feedback effects between insurance activities and economic growth in the long run.
