The article presents a study that explores the life history of Lusitanian cownose ray or Rhinoptera marginata (R. marginata) from the eastern Mediterranean Sea. It shows that the presence of near-term embryos of R. marginata in December 2011 and a neonate specimen in the same location fours months later, suggests that parturition occurs in late March or April 2012. It suggests that the Yumurtalik Bight in Iskenderun Bay may be one of the nursery areas for this species.
