Inclusive education of students with disabilities in general education contexts has been a global movement for at least 30 years. We completed a systematic review of articles published in English- and Spanish-language peer-reviewed journals to obtain an international perspective on the status of inclusive education research and practice regarding students with disabilities, as reflected in the literature from 2002 through 2016. Our literature search, which involved two parallel searches to compare and contrast articles published in the English and Spanish professional literature, yielded 2380 articles which were categorised into seven categories: theory, descriptive, attitudinal, literature review, intervention, and non-inclusive. For both the English and Spanish literature, the most two common article types were theory and descriptive. The number of intervention articles, with findings on the efficacy of interventions to promote inclusive practices, was drastically lower in the Spanish literature. Implications for advancing future research and practice are discussed.

Applying probit in Mexican micro data we conclude that sporting event attendance is determined mostly by education, income, gender, employment, marital status, ethnic origin, urbanization, and age. Showing that education is so central in the decision to attend a sporting event in developing countries is perhaps the most distinctive feature of the study; highly educated people are seven times more likely to buy tickets to sporting events than those with little formal education. The data fit information criteria confirms the importance of education. These results reveal yet another mechanism through which education increases the wellbeing of society--by enabling individuals to spend their leisure time attending sporting events rather than exhibiting negative behaviors such as abusive drinking or illegal drug consumption. Household income presents a dichotomy: it is largely irrelevant for 75% of the households and very relevant for the richer ones. Abstract: The bees of the Peponapis genus (Eucerini, Apidae) have a Neotropical distribution with the center of species diversity located in Mexico and are specialized in Cucurbita plants, which have many species of economic importance, such as squashes and pumpkins. Peponapis fervens is the only species of the genus known from southern South America. The Cucurbita species occurring in the same area as P. fervens include four domesticated species (C. ficifolia, C. maxima maxima, C. moschata and C. pepo) and one non-domesticated species (Cucurbita maxima andreana). It was suggested that C. m. andreana was the original pollen source to P. fervens, and this bee expanded its geographical range due to the domestication of Cucurbita. The potential geographical areas of these species were determined and compared using ecological niche modeling that was performed with the computational system openModeller and GARP with best subsets algorithm. The climatic variables obtained through modeling were compared using Cluster Analysis. Results show that the potential areas of domesticated species practically spread all over South America. The potential area of P. fervens includes the areas of C. m. andreana but reaches a larger area, where the domesticated species of Cucurbita also occur. The Cluster Analysis shows a high climatic similarity between P. fervens and C. m. andreana. Nevertheless, P. fervens presents the ability to occupy areas with wider ranges of climatic variables and to exploit resources provided by domesticated species. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Xochimilco is an area of Mexico City fulfilling important ecological functions. However, the water of the canal network in the lacustrine zone of Xochimilco is supplied by the water treatment plants of the city, implying a risk of accumulated contaminants in the sediments. This study reports the effect of lixiviates obtained from sediments collected in the canals of Xochimilco on the growth of the alga Selenastrum capricornutum and the angiosperm Origanum vulgare. Three factors were tested: (a) water source in terms of the effluent from the two water treatment plants (urban waste-water, located at Cerro de la Estrella (CE) and urban-rural waters at San Luis Tlaxialtemalco (SLT); (b) sampling season (January, dry season; May and September, rainy season; and (c) distances from the water discharge point in the Xochimilco's main canal (5200 and 1000 m for CE, and 0, 200 m for SLT). The chemical water properties analyzed were: pH, electrical conductivity, N-NO3, N-NH3, NTotal, P-PO4 and PTotal. The alga was more sensitive to the contaminants than O. vulgare, showing growth inhibition of 93-100%. The effect of sampling season on the inhibition of algal growth was ordered as follows: September > May > January. Lixiviates obtained from sediment samples 200 and 1000 m from the main point of water discharge caused a higher algal growth inhibition than the samples obtained at the source point. The article discusses a viable and economical alternative to the typical box-girder cross sections for light-rail bridges. It cites the aesthetic deficiencies of the existing Metro of Monterrey in Mexico viaduct structure, which include the wavy segment joints, rust in the columns, and uneven color of the segments. It describes the new linea 2 extension viaduct, which includes precast concrete segmental light-rail bridges.

Background: Protected agriculture (PA) is an alternative allowing the control of environmental variables to produce healthy vegetables. Biofertilizers and biofungicides can reduce the chemical load of pesticides. There is abundant literature documenting individual aspects, such as control of environmental variables, irrigation, biological control, and cost assessments. However, there are no reports documenting integral approaches in which variables are considered altogether in a successful case study of mid-tech technology, suitable in middle-income countries like México. We tested if mid-tech greenhouses using biocontrol and biofertilization can increase profits, using tomato as a model system. This work provides considerations about middle-income countries' agriculture and the need for a multidisciplinary approach to offer cost-effective, sustainable alternatives to producers. Results: This technology yielded up to 254 tons/ha·year of tomato, achieving reductions of 44-60% in water consumption, 25% in chemical nitrogen-fertilization, and 28% in the cost unit of production, increasing the profits by -45% in relation to Mexican conventional greenhouses management. Conclusions: This case study has shown that it is possible to significantly increase profits in mid-tech greenhouse tomato production by increasing productivity and crop quality and decreasing the use of water and agrochemicals through greenhouse automatization, crop management, and beneficial bacteria applied to crops. Abstract: Grain size analysis of volcaniclastic deposits is mainly used to study flow transport and depositional processes, in most cases by comparing some statistical parameters and how they change with distance from the source. In this work the geospatial and multivariate analyses are presented as a strong adaptable geostatistical tool applied to volcaniclastic deposits in order to provide an effective and relatively simple methodology for texture description, deposit discrimination and interpretation of depositional processes. We choose the case of Nevado de Toluca volcano (Mexico) due to existing knowledge of its geological evolution, stratigraphic succession and spatial distribution of volcaniclastic units. Grain size analyses and frequency distribution curves have been carried out to characterize and compare the 28-ka block-and-ash flow deposit associated to a dome destruction episode, and the El Morral debris avalanche deposit originated from the collapse of the south-eastern sector of the volcano. The geostatistical interpolation of sedimentological data allows to realize bidimensional maps draped over the volcano topography, showing the granulometric distribution, sorting and fine material concentration into the whole deposit with respect to topographic changes. In this way, it is possible to analyze a continuous surface of the grain size distribution of volcaniclastic deposits and better understand flow transport processes. The application of multivariate statistic analysis (discriminant function) indicates that this methodology could be useful in discriminating deposits with different origin or different depositional lithofacies within the same deposit. The proposed methodology could be an interesting approach to sustain more classical analysis of volcaniclastic deposits, especially where a clear field classification appears problematic because of a homogeneous texture of the deposits or their scarce and discontinuous outcrops. Our study is an example of the strong versatility of geospatial analysis to provide an effective and relatively clear methodology for the characterization of volcaniclastic deposits. Oocyte maturation defect is a challenging situation in the management of infertility, the etiology may be related to endocrine causes, protocols used in ovarian stimulation, oocyte intrinsic defects or procedures in embryology laboratory. We report three Mexican females in treatment for primary infertility with non-mature oocytes after ovary stimulation and oocyte capture in whom a genetic diagnosis of TUBB8 -oocyte maturation defect was revealed by exome sequencing. Two couples achieved pregnancies though oocyte donation after establishing the genetic etiology. Our results expand the role of TUBB8 -disorders in patients of non-Asian ethnicity. Oocyte maturation defects of monogenic origin are a growing group of disorders that endocrinologists and reproductive medicine specialists should be aware in order to provide referral to genetics for establish a correct and opportune diagnosis.
